personal gear vs strongholds boons upgrade

lemonchilllemonchill Member Posts: 523 Arc User
got a mail from guild leader encouraging us to invest more into strongholds boons so we all can benefit from it.
this made me wonder what is more rewarding now? trying to upgrade your own personal gear that means less gems, ad etc going to your guild coffer or donating it all to guild coffer so when you do get an upgrade its far more rewarding (imo) then any other ench.

for example: buy or investing in rank 10 ench will give you around 430 stat point but getting new guild boon will give you 800 stat point.

hmm big dilema.

Max your gear first, then help for the guild boons. You can get kicked out of a guild pretty easily and you lose everything, as it was the case a few weeks ago reported on the forums when a large guild leader allegedly sold his account and started to boot people that invested time and actual money in their stronghold.

Yep, I was the one who made that post on that whole fiasco.

Invest in stuff that stays with your character, and be willing to lose whatever you donate to the guild.

At the beginning of SH we merged 5 guilds, joining under the roof of the biggest guild of the 5 merging. They thought, that it was not a merger, but a takeover (they must have been a little bit dense, bc many ppl talked to them before, me included, and said, that anything but an equal term merging would not happen...), they thought, that they can boss us around, 4 guilds left. I lost guild R 3 or 4 and 2-5 million ADs spent on the SH.

The 4 remaining guilds begun to build SH with ca. 50 active players, we have now SH R 6 and 5 active players, again I did spent a few million ADs, to top of the last needed resources. If there are no changes with the next Mod, I (and 3 of the 4 other active players) will leave, again.

Ignoring hours of grinding influence etc, it looks, like I wasted 5-10 million ADs on SHs in guilds I wont be a part of anymore.

IMO, go for your own progress and give what you wont miss and do enough, that you dont have to feel like leeching of other ppls efforts. If you dont have enough ADs, farm influence etc, to contribute.

I dont know, if I will ignore SH from now on and return all of my chars to my personal guild with 8 guild bank vaults or jon a big guild, keeping up the grind and maybe loosing all again.
Chars: CW, DC, GF, GWF, HR and TR.

The Stronghold boons are helping all the guild members to achieve better personal goals in gear etc whilst sharing with others via donations.

You don't have to donate actual gems and gear etc. You can do quests and Heroic Encounters for Vouchers. It's all good.

AD and gear donations will be easier with next mod.

After playin with the Boons on Preview, there's really no need to race to upgrade them after level 5, cept maybe Power and Lifesteal. With the top gear and average enchants, everything that's currently live will be a cakewalk. The boons will eventually give players the option to change out their enchants to focus on weaker stats.

If ya work on your personal gear, you really don't need the boons. They're just a bonus. ;)

    Apart from the "getting kicked"-scenario...

...having better gear also means getting stuff faster - running dungeons/skirms/campaign token runs faster, more reliable, pulling guildmates through them, ...

...so, until you're geared up to a certain level, upgrading yourself is the smarter way, IMHO. Same BTW regarding outfitting Alts...

    Got a source for that?

Where do you see and gear donations will be easier? how? Frankly since I will have to do things that cost my time , instead of farming for AD.. it will be harder.

The new skirmishes and HEs offer more AD and gear sources. In just a few skirmishes I capp'd my daily 24k AD. The rings that come with those skirmishes, you can either salvage or donate, they come in all colors and flavors. Of course, most likely, we'll probably find out later today that they will get much harder. :|

The new HEs in every area give out Seals of Elements for more ring, neck, or waist salvaging plus bigger parties have a shot at something nicer.

Granted, these will get boring really quick but the opportunities are there. ;)
