Black Ice upgrade worth it..?

armadeonxarmadeonx Member Posts: 4,952 Arc User
I have the full Burning set and was thinking about upgrading it to Elemental but I just looked up the stat increases it gives - (less than) a measly 0.25% to each stat :o:o:o:o

Why would a person go through all that bother and expense for such a pathetic return!?!?

Am I missing something...?

Isn't the standard answer to this question is "because they have no life"?
All upgrades in the MMORPG/F2P world follow the rule of diminishing returns to avoid creating in-balance while allowing infinite progression.

The difference is that the 2,000 stat points going into tenacity would instead be going into a PvE stat.

Majik can you explain that pls as I don't understand what you mean. You still get 2k tenacity plus about another 80 (woo..!).

It basically comes down to competition and how competitive in nature you are; are you willing to apply that amount of time and effort into upgrading your gear knowing that the returns are going to be minimal at best? However, I personally believe that if you already have your full Burning set for PVP then I would upgrade if able because of the competitive nature of PVP in general. Every little increment in performance counts, and this is even more relevant with the high number of close 1V1 encounters. Come Strongholds, acquiring the BIS gear is still going to take 2-3 months or so. Besides, not alot of people actually have Elemental Burning gear so you would be unique statistically speaking.

I might be tempted if the tools weren't so expensive - have you seen the prices on the AH? :o

I personally wouldn't ever spend that much in AD/resources on a PvE set. However, I upgrade my pvp set as I can to get every edge possible. I already make the unified elements via alchemy, have black ice forge rank 5, and plenty of the other materials so why not

Statistically it's not much but I prefer to have whatever adv I can over another player.

I would never suggest being in a rush for these types of upgrades unless you have a fat wallet. Just upgrade as you can and as you acquire the materials imo.

The other option I would throw out would be to collect enough for upgrading the SH pvp set, and sit on those for however long it takes for you to get the new set. Upgrade your current set with whats left after that
