Paladin tanky build question - Justice or bulwark?

ideathlyomenideathlyomen Member Posts: 20 Arc User
I heard justice is good for tanking because fill AP faster though bulwark seems like path a tank would want take as it has tank feats. I just got my paladin to level 70 and bought respec with some extra AD I had laying around, which path is better for a tank?
Also, if you have have any good pve build links could you put link here :)
GWF - Morthos Lvl 70 (Main)
OP - Hodor Lvl 70

Ill do you a favour and link you to this:

Bear in mind that myself and the guide author play on the PC version of the game, so there might be some discrepancies between whats ideal for us and what is ideal for you, however, as there doesn't seem to be anything posted here, its at least a base line to start working from.

You will want to ask @kolatmaster for any advice about the tank though, as my field of play is more the devotion (healer) paladin then the protection one.

i am in the justice tree myself. even in that guide that thefabricant posted, it says that his latest build is relevant more now on PC because other players now have better gear etc. on XB1 we are still struggling to finish t1 dungeons, LOL. but anyway, my build is very similar to kolat's and i'm not worried because it's not my main. i don't want to respec later, so as the community gets strong, my pali will become more viable.

came across a bulwark pally on GG, decided to send him a tell and he mention to me about it, base on my experience going with him, he is literally unkillable and it was 3 of us against him contesting a nod and u guys should have elven battle for ur armor, it will help a lot against the irritating infinite HR roots

You don't need defense or deflection or high life. Just the bubble for groups. And just templar's wrath for solo play for temp HP. Bulwark has attractive things, but I'm full justice and I never even come close to dying pulling everything in solo play.

Go justice - It helps your team the most and give you the most damage. Nice for when you're soloing/dailies.

The final feat of bulwark caps at 20 stacks. The shield it provides is gone in one hit from any mob in a dungeon or any enemy in pvp.

Good info here, I was on the fence as to which path to take. It looks like justice is the way to go. As a new lvl 70 is there a lot of trouble tanking until I get my hands on some good gear?

Yes. HP is the best defense for dungeons as there is a bug with enemy mobs where they will at times completely ignore all of your damage resist.

CC will be your best friend and make your role much easier.

Remember the basics of tanking as well. Use your shield (not your face), do not let mobs get combat advantage on you, cluster mobs if possible, maintain aggro, etc.

As a protection paladin people will generally just want you to keep up divine protector. 2 prot pallies and a haste cleric more or less make any party immortal. It is your choice how you play though.
