Players will earn “Faerzress” and “Demonic Ichor” when they complete these Heroic Encounters. In addition, there will be quests in Dread Ring, Caer-Konig, and Well of Dragons that will require players to complete these encounters. These quests will reward currency used in the zone’s campaigns, allowing players to progress through the campaigns faster than before.
Hopefully this means those quests reward the time gated currencies (e.g. caer-konig reputation, Thayan Scrolls/cyphers, Feywild Sparks etc.). Although kind of confused as to how this will matter if underdark campaign zones aren't at a lower difficulty level than say WoD/IWD.
Previously at Cryptic HQ...." A new module, great! New areas to explore, new things to see....wait.... no I've had a better idea, let's reuse the areas, people have already run 1000s of times, they must LOVE them...they did them all again for Strongholds..."
Scalable encounters sounds intriguing, I just hope there are rigorously tested before official release. However, even the possibility of more regurgitated old scenery makes me very concerned
Definitely not an Arc User.

At first I was like...oh no...no more Heroic Encounters....but they will scale, so I am ok with that. I hope that's not Well Of Dragon map in Underdark.
I do not mind the fact that they are adding HE's with demons all over the known places. It makes sense if you think about it. How else are you going to know the fact that in the underdark, the demons have risen and are starting to make a mess of things. I am however, worried that there will be no new map. You have this new idea of demons and the underdark, got a great storyteller to create quests and if they will just copy over some place, then that is deff. going to be a bummer.
Maybe we get a mod 7b, as they have managed to do so in the past. I wouldnt mind getting a late mod 7 final, in the shape of an amazing new map and/or new dungeon for the scary demons. The HE's should be the flavor portion of the module, the salt for just a little umpf. The main course should be a map, the desert a dungeon.
I wonder if the encounters can scale back down, or if drive-by griefers will be able to scale your encounter up then ride off laughing at you.
This is a very valid point; A player should have to remain in the HE for a set period of time before it scales up, and if those players cease to remain, then said HE should also reduce in difficulty as well.

I don't mind going back to CK/IWP/DV or DR or WoD ..
As long as you curate the NPCs/Rewards/Campaign
I have no problem w it. I'm there once a week for campaign weeklies to build the stronghold anyway

Wow, i can't believe how pathetic this is. Lack of imagination and creativity this development team has. In the first blogs, we could read that in the new expansion there will be a new campaign, new zones "that we haven't explored before"; now you are going to dispatch us to old zones again?. Wasn't it enough for you to rehash same zones into elemental evil expansion?, it was not when you did it again with stronghold expansion. How hard is it to understand that WE DON'T LIKE TO RUN SAME ZONES AGAIN AND AGAIN... it is boring and mind numbing.
Someone asked for our thoughts about underdark in zone channels. What i first came to think was: After 1 year knowing how cryptic runs, i couldn't be more excited for their expansion news, 'cause they will disappoint again; it is what they usually do, to disappoint their community. Reading some paragraphs i thought "oh, they will probably re-use rothey valley and whispering caverns zones, how original", but now i read this article, and there we go with campaign zones again.
Finally, i will remain skeptical and not excited about any new u pop here. After all it will end up with same thing: broken content, bugs, and taking years to fix; more complains, many threads with disappointments and after 1 month you will answer: " we read your feedback (as if you really do) and we thought we had to fix this and that cause it was causing this and that, we will be looking at how things go". So typical of you that i already know your "libretto".

"Rifts to the Abyssal plane have appeared in Dread Ring, Icewind Pass, Dwarven Valley, and Well of Dragons. The Harpers have sent wizards to try to close the rifts, but they’ll need the help of powerful adventurers to stop the demons."
Well, on the good side, it gives more to do in those zones. Lets hope this is just a small part of Underdark.
How is adding more options to existing content so bad?
The information we have says "more new areas" and it now also says "and new stuff in existing areas". These are not mutually exclusive things. In fact they are both additive to the game experience.
Obsidian Moonlight - Paladin Obsidian Oath - Warlock A whole lot of other Obsidian toons as well.

/\ what he said. Not only read what they want to read, but read what some troll said and believe it, then spread it themselves ad nauseum... Personally, I'm looking forward to whatever new content they bring. I can HOPE they don't simply rehash prior areas, pretty much what we all can do really. Just hope it's scaled appropriately, with appropriate rewards that don't favor pvp above all else (which they seem to have done too much).

k well when they once again half HAMSTER it, i'll be looking at you for more excuses
One of the most important thing to change before you launch the Underdark, I beg you, limit number of players in one instance, please (25-30 max). Zerging things destroy all the fun and your hard work.

Now I must return to crafting many, many pairs of pants.

If we're just getting salt then... yea....

In areas we already know? *2x yawn*
And there I thought a new campaign means we'll get a new zone. Guess not.
