Technical Issue - Unable to play the Tyranny of Dragons Campaign Quest Path

danaswansondanaswanson Member Posts: 87 Arc User
Hello Fellow Adventurers,

I think I’ve run into a bug in Neverwinter that’s preventing me from running the Tyranny of Dragons Campaign quest path.

Somehow before being able to handle myself in the Well of Dragons I accepted a few repeatable quests from WoD. I wasn’t able to complete them BUT I could not abandon these quests for some reason, the abandon button was grayed out on them.

I’m a bit fuzzy, but this is what I think happened. Neverwinter was upgraded from Module 5 to Module 6. Having these WoD quests in my quest list was annoying me. I was still unable to handle myself at WoD but went there and asked for help with the quests I could not handle alone. I completed them with and everything seemed good.

Here’s the odd part. Somewhere during all this I ended up with the Portal to Tuern quest (the last quest in the quest path). I had not even started the Tyranny of Dragons Campaign Quest Path yet. For the longest time I just ignored it on my quest list. Once I was able to handle myself in the Well of Dragons I finished the Portal to Tuern quest. Now I’m thinking I should have abandoned it rather than complete it.

Another odd thing I’ve noticed is that the Tyranny of Dragons Campaign Progress Tree has been shown as 100% complete for the longest time now, even though I have not yet unlocked all of the progress boxes. It was shown as 100% complete before I finished the Portal to Tuern quest.

I’ve tried going to Sergeant Knox in Protector’s Enclave to start the Tyranny of Dragons quest path but there’s no option to start the “Cult on the Rise” mission. I’ve also spoke with Harper Boward and the only quest related to Tyranny of Dragons is Protecting the Portal, nothing on the Tyranny of Dragons quest path.

Would anyone have some ideas as far as anything I could do or check in the Neverwinter game before I ask for technical support type help?

I would greatly appreciate any help with this.

Thanks!

Did you talk to everyone in the area you meet Harper in PE? Try talk to everyone in that area. You probably will not see the "?" above them because your character is over level that. Just talk to them regardless.

I had this same problem, even including moving from Mod 5 to Mod 6. You have to complete the intro missions to continue. I could not kill the Prison Warden in Mod 5, and of course he was much worse in Mod 6. But no one would give me additional quests. Since Mod 7 my former main finally was powerful enough to kill the Warden, and other quests became available for me.

You could request someone help you complete the quests you have. Take a party to do it. Or wait until you are a wee bit yet more powerful, and finish them. I have not yet met the Alchemist (I've switched characters and am now again unable to kill the Warden), but the Warden was easily the worst one that I met there.

You unlock the campaign by completing the modules listed, including paying the necessary currencies and waiting the hourse before repeat, 5 times per item, I think. Many people do not complete the last 2 boons because they do not want to grind the additional ~80 Linus.

I think he said he got passed that with help. i.e. I don't think he has Cult prison gate problem.

    Thanks plasticbat,

Your correct. I'm now able to handle all the repeatable quests like the Cult Prison with no issues. I just can't get assigned the "Cult on the Rise" quest to start the quest path.

    Thanks,

I'll give that a try. I'll try talking to everyone that could possibly give me the first quest I need to start (At PE).

I'm going to check the quests I've completed again and double check to make sure I haven't done these already. (Shrug)

Sorry, I clearly wasn't reading closely.

    I'm sorry everyone. My bad.

I went through the completed quests and did find some completed quests that are from the Tyranny of Dragons Campaign.

I did complete this quest path. I feel much better now knowing it's not a bug.

    Thanks!
