Strongholds Small Guild suggestion 2

darwinsradiodarwinsradio Member Posts: 61 Arc User
Create "Mercenary" Strongholds that a player can flag a character to.

Each character you want to join the "Mercenary" stronghold can be flagged to be part of that stronghold independent of your guild.

Mercenary strongholds would have the same cap for members as a Guild.

This allows solo players and small guild players to participate without creating a scaling system that could be exploited.

There are always going to be players that don't want to join a guild or want to stay in the small guilds they have created with family or friends. Not everyone out there wants to be part of an Uber guild.

I want to explore Strongholds and take part in a Dragon Flight attack, but I don't see that as being possible for me in my current guild, and I will not abandon my guild just for Strongholds.

My guild consists of 1.5 people and their alts and we've already concluded that there is not much in strongholds for us. We can beat the smaller HE's and do the dailies and we've built the lumber yard. The logical next thing is the farm but it will take us over 12 months to accumulate the stuff required. And the requirements get even steeper after that.

We don't really want to join another guild so those boons will always be out of reach for us. From our perspective it's a mod that does not really offer much. Shame really, because I love the concept of building and upgrading buildings. <shrug>

The requirements are tough for small guilds.

    Thats fair.
At least lower the cost of lvl 1 buildings.

    Why?
I know some of my friends's guilds still stuck with millabout.

True. Take some time. Why not?

My small guild will never get to build the millabout. Not this year, at least. We had to stop at the lumber mill, which makes this mod a total waste for us.

The biggest quality of life improvement would to allow me to log back into the stronghold when I log out.

Why not. it wil take 5 players a while yes but it is do able maybe 2 months for very small guild
There are more than BIS players in this game
RIP Real Tiamat, RIP Real Demogorgon RIP real Temple of the spider. Why remove non bis content to give to bis players ????
FORCING the majority of your player base to play 4 mod old dungeons and trial will have a bad result on player base
Changes are getting so bad i would rather prefer no new changes (RIP ICE FISHING in winter fest)

I would have to pour every AD I have into the stronghold. I'd have to give up all salvaging. I'd have to give up half of my RP (enchants and shards) in order to get past level 1 lumberyard/guild hall, and it would still probably take close to a year. Even if I did that, I would still see no advantage to this module. Not even my own zone to camp out in. My head would explode before I could figure out how long it would take to buy gear there.

I joined a guild yesterday, put some resource stuff in then i was thinking *what if* there is an argument, or i just get kicked for not being online a few days, these things can happen.
I would for example have put weeks or months of my time in some one else's stronghold.. so made my own guild, having fun now (since i was only farming DR and SHR) its good farming and i feel like the Overlord lol.
Will never construct anything solo thats fine, to lazy to recruit atm.. and there are so many recruiting these days.
Still, can make use of stuff and resources , me like -)

BTW recruiting all lvl minions  mail me ingame, i promise im a good Overlord  .

One of the smart things STO did was to make the initial level improvements attainable even for a solo person in a reasonable time. The higher levels would require larger groups. That way everyone gets to participate. Here the orcs at the beginning are groups of four or five level 70 units. Even though a level 25 guy is pushed to 70, his armor and hp are not up to these engagements. There needs to be a few locations to go for lower level and lone wolves.
While initially a good idea its so far been a failure as far as full implementation. They narrowed the scope too much. Yes, feed the resident participants, however, this flat makes anyone either new or casual just flat left out of what could be the best aspect of the game. I was getting back into the game until it turned out this

In real life, Rome wasn't built by a small tribe of hunter-gatherers. If you don't want to be in a large guild, that is a perfectly reasonable choice. However, you should not gain the same benefits as people that choose to work together in a larger collective, toward a larger goal. Fortunately you have never needed to be anywhere close to maxed-out to play all of the PVE content*. You will do just fine in all of the PVE content without a single stronghold boon.

If you feel you need the boons at times, make friends with the leaders of a larger guild. Ask if you can transfer one of your characters in from time-to-time. While there, contribute to what they are doing and enjoy the benefits. When you go back to your own guild, the boons will go away but you will still have the guild marks you earned there.

True, but making it impossible for small guilds and solo players to get BIS gear is not right. I guess for this reason they will have new BIS gear in underdark that will make all the work bigger guilds did useless.

Or they can add other guild stuff in the next modules, like a stronghold pvp artifact shown on the preview, but not yet in the live.

The stuff on the preview now will be released before underdark. That is the sad part the are just baiting players to waste resources on equipment that will be out of date in 60-75 days.
