Why does the game crash so often when changing characters?

Is this ever going to be fixed? It happens when you change character and try to enter the game on the new character. The orange bar at the bottom fills up as the game is loading but stops at half way, it just freezes. I am forced to alt-tab to desktop, right click the Cryptic taskbar icon and close it. Windows tells me the gameclient is not responding.

This needs to fixed, it's very frustrating.

That has never happened to me, though I am fairly often logged out when trying to change characters and have to log back in again.

I never get a crash, but I have been getting constant "account server timed-out" messages for a few months and I have to keep re-entering my password to login. It started getting better but now it's back. Just as well, the uber-nerf to Leadership leaves no reason to change characters every morning now.

So it's become a moot point.

It started happening to me also after the patch that was supposed to fix the low frame rate. IF I wait for 3 minutes it will finally go ahead and load. If I die in tiamat it is reloaded right after the win or loss so I get no reward LOL...The game still has a memory leak somewhere. If I have the performance monitor running from the task manager it shows the game eating about 2kb a second until it either crashes or finally starts responding again. The log files in the game are showing java errors and a loss in the ability to find the dns server LMAO

Same here since Strongholds, and the last patch didn't help solving this issue either.

And another thing, not sure if that is related somehow to this, but the graphic settings are back to "min." every time i start the game.
It doesn't matter where i set them, after restarting the game, they're back to "min." and i have to adjust them again...
