"The goddess Waukeen, known as the Merchant's Friend, is sharing her blessings with the heroes of Neverwinter. By fighting foes of Neverwinter you may gain a Waukeen's Coin Purse. You must be level 10 or greater, and fighting monsters within 7 levels of you.
You can open it right away for an immediate reward or you can bring several of them to me in the Moonstone Mask where I'll exchange them for a Waukeen's Strongbox or even a Waukeen's Treasure Chest, each of which will have a better chance for a greater reward.
Nothing is guaranteed, of course, but as Waukeen tells us, 'Gold comes to the bold.' "This comes from the Truetrader of Waukeen.....
"Waukeen, the goddess of coins and wealth, has smiled upon the adventurers of the Sword Coast."I did the first Waukeen Event a few years back. That being said this years event was a big let down. Lets start with some numbers:
I farmed 320coin purses during the event.
Converted to Strongboxes that 40 strongboxes.
Strongbox contains:
Waukeen's Strongbox
Contains a boon from the goddess Waukeen herself.
This box contains one of the following:
Golden Pantaloons fashion item
8 Coins of Waukeen
10 Blessed Gold Dye pack
8 Teleport Scroll - Moonstone Mask
Up to 64,000 Rough Astral Diamonds
Profession Resources: Rare or EpicSo up to 64000 in rough AD amongst other possible rewards. I opened all 40 last night. i got:
- 5500 Rough AD x 4
- 2750 Rough AD x1
- 4 Pairs of Golden Pants
- Lots of Dyes
- Some Mining Claims
- Some Marks of Gratitude
- Some Waukeen Coins
So i'll focus on the Rough AD part, it says up to 64000. i got 5500 four times, does that sound like RNGesus had a bad day at the office or what?
i got 2750 Rough AD once...... Sounds like the proverbial flaming bag of
HAMSTER at my doorstep.
So without battling the mass undercutters on the auction house, i spent the weekend getting 24750 Rough AD. 24750 out of 300 waukeen purses, 24750 out of 40 strongboxes...... thats just sad. If there is a Waukeen she must think i dropped a steaming load on one of her alters for her to curse me with this sort of "wealth and prosperity"
The first Waukeen event i must have made well over 300000 Rough AD and thats by just running around mount hotenow farming for embershards.
And from prior topics posted here it seems that the bags are on a 1 min cooldown(unconfirmed). During my farming, my theory not only includes the cooldown, but diminishing returns on droprate. So farming just one area is a very bad idea.
I just posted on another topic concerning leadership and AD generation. I'll echo my thoughts here. With cryptic putting in counter measures against actual serious and active players, ie:
- Boons that require AD to acquire
- Stronghold upgrading!! also requires AD....
- Armor Reinforcement, thats 100000 per top tier consumable. If you upgrade to another armor since your current one is no longer BiS to you, guess what? Thats another 100k you gotta spend.
- Item Appearance- 50k AD, thats 50k AD per piece so you don't look ridiculous while trying to be epic. This does not include dyes, which also are not free. There are free ones, but they are free for a reason.
- Artifact Powers, thats a huge AD sink if i ever saw one!!
The list goes on.
I'll end with this:
Nothing is guaranteed, of course, but as Waukeen tells us, 'Gold comes to the bold.' "Cryptic, and by association Waukeen herself are Ferengi.
For those not familiar:
The Ferengi /fəˈrɛŋɡi/ are a fictional extraterrestrial race from the Star Trek universe.
They and their culture are characterized by a mercantile obsession with profit and trade, and their constant efforts to swindle unwary customers into unfair deals. Now rub your ear lobes to that thought.......

I opened ten coin purses and immediately came to the conclusion that I was better off just selling them on the AH. For the first day they were going for 2k a piece. Then they dropped to 1k. Then 600, then 400. Still made ~200k dumping them on the AH.
I wasn't expecting to pull huge amounts of valuable items or AD out of the event, but I did get enough purses for 3 strongboxes, I got my Pantaloons first box, some coins second and the cape from the third, I was very happy with what I got, I just saw it as a nice bonus on top of my normal activities. And the most important thing? GOLDEN PANTALOONS! YES!!! I love the nod to Baldur's Gate.
Nerfing Waukeen event, not as much of huge impact

kill the lowest of the loot table items.. AROSS The board in every thing in the game (oh boy another white pearl incoming) these are not needed and shouldnt be in the game.
so, i wasnt lucky enough to get a pants, since was so busy getting the seals i need with my guildmates and killing dragons for fangs.
that is bad combination of events, too conflictings for same weekend.
725 Rough AD! top i think is 8k... wow 725.....
a single mining claim
coins
mark of gratitude (i found this ironic most of all)
I think they way they worked it so the lower end of the rng table has a much higher chance to drop than the higher end. As if the odds aren't skewed enough with a 1 in 6 chance to get diamonds, and within that chance its say... 1/3 maybe 1/5 to get the maximum amount of Rough AD. That it self makes sense, if you were trying to minimize the chances of people being satisfied with their experience. And by satisfied, i mean getting something worthwhile.
I found it odd that some peoples expectations for this event are a golden pair of pants
At least if they were going to lower the chances of getting the AD drop, they could have left it at the proper reward. Both lowering the drop rate on the ad burst, and lowering the amount the ad gives was overkill...
