Power Points for fresh 70s?

defiantone99defiantone99 Member, NW M9 Playtest Posts: 6,634 Arc User
So with the new requirements for Overflow XP it is nearly impossible for new players and fresh 70s, especially Paladins to get power points. It is as if we are to be forever sub-par. There needs to be a change ASAP. My GWF got all power points before Mod 6, so has some Rank 4 powers, but the rest of my classes are stuck with 1-3 Rank 4 powers. With there being a minimum of 7 powers that every class uses, it is completely unfair that only one or two are Rank 4 and there is no way to get more in a reasonable amount of time. Please lower the amount of XP required and guarantee power points for every overflow. Thank you.

Im 100% agreement with this, it should be lowered or it should have a 100% chance at a power point, at least to make it fair.

Overflow exp is ok. Fresh lvl 70 now should be like fresh lvl 60 before overflow power points were introduced - 10 additional skill points. Perhaps after 60 give the toon 2 power points per level, so it can have lvl 4 power points from level 65?

I hit 70 three months ago and I've gotten three power points out of six overflow rewards :|

Every other time it's one sapphire or aquamarine. That's 10.7 million exp. Or 4.6 million more exp than it takes to get to 70. If you count just PvE encounters I've got ~ 5 more I need to get. If you count PvP encounters it's 11.

Or 17.85 million exp just for PvE encounters. 39.27 million for all of them. That means a total of 50 million exp. And this assumes that I don't get aquamarines for three overflows in a row or some such.

So what you're implying is that it should take 7 times as much exp to get your powerpoints as it does to get from 1-70.

    That's ridiculous.

You misunderstood me - Fresh lvl 70 should have 10 additional skill points compared to what he has now, before he even needs to get overflow level - thats why levels above 60 should get 2 power points per level, not 1

Then you're just eliminating the need to grind overflow exp...

Yeah, that was the point of overflow rewards, when they were 1st introduced - they werent meant to be grinded, they were meant to be additional reward for doing other activities - people complained that after hitting 60 you still got exp, but nothing happened with it.

The power points is a problem for the paladin (or new players) because it's the last class, the problem will be worse for the next class and eventually for a lot of people with a up to level 80.

I mean that would be great but it would be pretty unrealistic to expect cryptic to do it.

Don't totally get the reasoning on the Paladin. It's a problem for all newish characters now. I have an older GF, but have switched to a new main, and he is going to be short-ended, Pally or no.

agreed. its not fair for new characters, it should be 100% for a point.

It's not exactly overpowered, or gamebreaking if it was changed to this. RnG is just a terrible idea for acquiring these.

While I don't believe power points should be 100% as this will certainly max out the older players pretty fast, the probability should be inversely proportional to the number of points you have. If you have fewer points, you should be more likely to get a point. This way newer players will eventually catch up with older players.

IMHO lower XP requirement, and make the chances for getting a PP dynamic, depending on the number the char already has - e.g. 100% chance at 70 PP, slowly ramping down to e.g. 25% at >100 PP.

How about fresh level 70s get a power point for their first 5 overflow levels?

    I can't believe it's still like THIS.

My OP is my main but my GWF was my main prior to Mod6 and has 80pts.

This really is a poor implementation as it stands.

Any NEW player coming to NW is so at a disadvantage, don't kid yourself (9pts are really needed to cover all your active hotbar abilities) all those stat bonuses seriously add up over a Dungeon run.

People will debate and flame each other over a single +x% here or a +x% statistic.... BUT these 4th pts ability bonuses summed up add WAY more than that combined across your char.

A 70pt player (gear aside) is not going to pump the same numbers as an 80pt player... *PERIOD*

    Suggestion:
If you are going to RNG the PPs at least make it something like 250-500K or something per chance!

250 - 500K + RNG for powerpoint is tolerable, but...

...grind week for 1.785.000 exp and get GREAT peridot, ooooh, >:) .
