Raid System of Grouping

Helloz, with the strongholds here the guilds are finally getting to band together and do something that was much wanted since the game began. Groups are made and people go do Heroic Encounters and tackle the Dragonflight event.

A suggestion that was squiggling (yes wiggle wiggle) in my mind was a system of raid groups. Basically a person can connect the groups together in the strongholds. What the system should so is one group leader of a group say an officer or the guild leader become the 'raid lead' and 'raids' other group leaders by right clicking them and selecting a raid option from drop down menu. All the groups are displayed on the left side of the map. In addition a separate chat becomes active solely for the raid groups and their members.

Including this the raid leader can also get the power to move people around in different groups say put 2 dps with tanks and a cleric where he is needed. Also the raid leader gets auto assigned a different color for chat purposes and a small icon like a crown or something for identification.

What this system should do is offer a great level of organization for the dragonflight event where a raid leader can fast make groups assign them function and observe them all on the map so that everyone is where they are wanted also balancing the groups will become easier. In addition a separate chat will enforce a level of discipline so that the guild chat stays separate and the members actively participating can concentrate on one chat. This system also helps in the 2-3 groups running of Heroic encounters where some people might feel left out if they aren't in the same group as the 'main' one the raid leader can quick grab any member and shift them into a group.

This system can also be massively helpful in the upcoming siege event where pvp groups can be organized, talk in a same chat and their location be confirmed by other people in the PVP. Battle plans can also be discussed in the raid making the event more fun.

Its a bit long >_< but i hope there will be some positive feedback on the suggestion (i think this discussion goes here sorry if it doesn't >_<)

I know another thread was made in the same discussion forum like this but i thought laying it out like this might explain it a bit better.

Helloz magenubbie thnx for the the feedback on the post! Lets analyze:

1.Guild Chat to coordinate thing: As i said in my post guild chat is a general channel 1. not everyone in a big guild wants to do dragons 21 if a new is playing with a guild/low level new invite, he would have no idea what the chat is about, moreover I personally as a guild leader use my guild channel for talking, communicating and having general fun rather then giving instruction on how to tackle a raid event or a siege raid channel will help with this.

2.Can and should make groups: I am sure the guilds attempting this make groups beforehand as the time window is much too less for organization of that scale. The raid gives the exact numbers of people participating. Moreover its not about making groups its about balancing them too, for example 1 group has 3 tanks 1 dc and 1 dps while the other group has no dc the lead or whoever is leading the raid asks for the tank to leave and join the other group but whattt the tank is afk till dragons arrive! well bummer there too bad the raid lead cant move people. THE RAID CAN SHOW what numbers are there and how to better tackle the dragons as well: ranged more on green, tanks more on black etc.

    3. Voice chat: There are a number of reasons people don't use voice chat i wont go into that. Are u implying the people who don't use voice chat are not good pvpers? i don't find this statement true the siege event is more about just base pvp and capture points like IWD PVP, its a coordinated strike a proper raid attempting it will minimize the miscommunication, also the raid can always be assigned a ingame chat channel!

I hope i made you see what the raid system will bring us. Please please people if you want this system kindly a single sentence comment will do the community needs to come together to get the good stuff rolling the devs rely heavily on our feedback after all.

Thnx for the positive note Killer!

    Cheerz!

Our guild uses both voice (TS) and chat channel. The information of voice and chat channel is in the guild info section. All new recruit are told about that. Using voice chat does not mean you have to talk. You can listen. You can wait for the "stop" signal and "kill" signal.

We do set up party groups before the dragon runs. That is more for VIP HP boosting than communication. Communication is both voice and guild chat channel to direct people where to go. To red or to green, when to split to jump to black, when to add more DPS to which dragon, etc.

There is one (or few voices) to lead the whole guild in the process. i.e. the guild leader(s) to give instruction to the whole guild. Party leader does not need to do anything. They can just concentrate on the fight. One person talks and may be another person type.

I don't know what raid system will bring in and I am not against it as long as it does not create lag.

    Thanks for the feedback plasticbat!

As i replied to killer thats what the raid system brings. Now lets see about the chat as i said not everyone feels comfortable about using chat clients even ingame chat and as a leader of a diverse guild i respect that i am sure other guilds have some people like that too however putting a restriction like no voice chat no raid is a little bit harsh the raid system frees us of these restriction its focused also while talking many people might talk at once or if priority speaker is set other members might feel left out or imp info cannot be shared. Voice chat has its positives immensely but its drawbacks as well also an integrated voice chat in raid is much nicer too rather then whole guild chat channel or separate client.

I like the raid system on more of its organizing and group facilities rather then communication too the communication is an added bonus:)

    Cheers!

I prefer the talk to typing. My fingers are busy killing HAMSTER and my eyes looking for HAMSTER to kill not reading. Talk is just a better way of communiccating to me and for me.
