I have been playing since open beta. I spent some real money then, both to support the game and to get a bit of a head start. I built up a nice crafting army, setup a nice AD generating machine, and have not needed to spend real money since around Mod 2. I decided not to spend real money because of a long string of questionable decisions growing the game around the same time.
Bad decisions are still being made (leadership in the gateway, I'm looking at you). But many, many good things are being done too. I'm encouraged by the new dev leadership, and by the current direction. Even though I have the Zen I need, and the AD to get more Zen, I pulled out my wallet again this morning for the first time in a very long time to show support and appreciation for the improved direction of the game.
Thank you Neverwinter team for paying much better attention to your player base.

Nice post.
I did the same thing. I have plenty of AD saved up I could convert to zen, and probably 1000 zen sitting in the exchange right now, but I bought zen with cash to buy my first VIP pack as a sign of support.
I was going to spend money on the game today, for the first time since probably mod 4, also was a beta tester of Neverwinter. But have been extremely angry (To say the least) with the poor performance of the game developers. Seeing that the server was up and running for little over a minute, after taking a extra hour for maintenance, I think I will continue not to pay those that are running things till the people in charge wise up and fire them.

Right...because it's just that easy to fire everyone, hire new people and be back up to speed in the blink of an eye...
Not spending another cent on this game. Not when they change it all again in 3 months and make you start all over again. They can't even keep Neverwinter and Star trek form sigs and picuters seperate. Not worth it.

i have been playing MMO's for over 10 years and NWO developers are absolutely the worst team i have ever seen. They are just 21-22 years unexperienced school boys. They propably shouldn't even be allowed to work as interns in any decent online gaming company. Look at what they have done in mod6!!! İnstead of releasing new content they cut the half we already had!!!

No, you don't fire everyone you fire selectively. Those that perform get to keep their jobs. Those that excel get incentives to continue to excel (it's called a raise).
What does this accomplish?
A.Get's the unproductive deadwood out, leaving room for fresh talent to come in.
B. Gives incentive to slackers to not be lousy and be the next "selected" for "involuntary-manditory free time" i.e. unemployed.
This is how capitalism actually works. You don't keep employees or managers that keep on HAMSTER up. you don't carry employees that keep putting out shoddy work product. Sometimes the word." YOU'RE FIRED!" works miracles.
The current state of affairs with the last decade or so of workers, they have been told by mommy and daddy and their schools that it's bad to be a "winner". That it's good that everyone gets a blue ribbon just for showing up. Employers are bad if they expect workers to, you know work for a paycheck. That they deserve a check just for showing up. Weed those sorts out, you don't have to "fire the lot of them now!" And have the trama to getting a whole new crew up to speed.
Give the remaining crew an incentive, fire a couple and get compitent replacements, the remainers will either get compitent real fast or be next to get chopped.
Just out of curiosity, have you ever had to look someone in the eye that you've worked closely with, maybe even considered a friend, and tell them they no longer have a job? I have, several times, and it's sucks. It's not nearly as simple as you seem to think it is.
Yes I have. And yes, it blows. And yes, for a while they hated me and wouldn't talk to me. But eventually we became friends again, and they understood why I had to fire them and because we were friends again they eventually got an even better jobs. (Well with one exception..he never actually fit in, and after getting booted still hates me, and never amounted to much afterwards, I think that's due to HIS outlook on life though.)
I've also had to lay off people, not for anything they did, but because business dictated it. It was lay off the lowest totem pole employees and help them get unemployment benefits etc, or fire several more senior employees (and impact their families that needed the pay even more.)
I've also been on the other end, and the manager firing me was in tears, they knew that I didn't actually deserve the firing and I was innocent of why I got the boot, but by their own words, "they couldn't prove me innocent (as they cried and said they knew it wasn't me), and upper managements policy forced them to can me.
I've been on both sides of the thing, salaried and hourly, managerial and not. I can say, I far prefer hourly, I don't get more and more HAMSTER shuffled to my shoulders without being compensated for it. I do what I can in the hours that I work and if there is some left over, it's the managers problem, they managed poorly if they put to much on one employee.
I hated management, that having to fire thing sucked, so did the punishment thing, and most especially I resented that ever more workload dumped on me for no more money thing bothered me. Salary, to me is a suckers game. Yes, you get good money if you get to work reasonable hours but more often than not, you got to work HAMSTER hours, more and more work, pick up everyone elses slack, and then still deal with those over you and those under you's crud.
Currently spending my entertainment dollars elsewhere as I feel the direction the game has gone in is not one I want to support. Plus there is absolutely nothing for me in Mod 7 so I won't be logging in again for a while.

That's practically standard performance for a mod release
