Ok, so if what we're hearing about the new Strongholds PvE and PvP gear, Dragonsflight and Lionsmane sets, is to be believed...
We're expected to just toss our (still almost new) level 70 purples, the Elemental and Elven sets, throw them in the trash, in the same way we were expected to just dump the old level 60 epics? So we can just run out and grind all over again for IL 140-142 endgame BiS?
Really?
I'm hoping I heard that wrong, Cryptic, because if it is true, then I have to ask....did you learn absolutely nothing from the outrage over mod 6? At all...?

We *never* have that many online at once. I don't think, in all the time that I've been a member of the guild, that we've had that many on, even before the founders all left. Nowadays, seeing just five online is rare in the extreme. Sure, on paper, we have over 100 accounts, but in reality, 90% of them have left the game entirely.
It pains me to say it, but I don't believe that the devs have learned anything about their playerbase since mod 6 launched. Sure, there will be more seals dropping in dungeons, but with bosses able to do 500k of damage per hit (and minions able to do 100k!) it doesn't matter. They could put a gazillion seals in the chest and it wouldn't matter since only 0.05% of the playerbase would ever get to open it.
Sometimes I just want to scream.

Its not that mmo shouldn't have new grind, its the time frame between them, 3 months IS really short, extremely short in MMO timeframe for new gear to be released.
135 vs 140 or 2.. isnt all that much different though, do what you want. 1200 more stats is only a total 3% total difference in all likely-hood in terms of dps or defense.
The problem with mod 6 release making previous armour worthless, was due to the stat curves increase, Most other mmos you could use your old BiS armour up to the new end cap , then you would need to get new ones.
Some classes or old heavy gear score classes, didnt have issues, but if you had a alt, say with AD gear on and a slotted r7s, the sw was eaten alive! I was forced to get new blues with massive hp upgrades to play.
However, I dont really care, I do care about needless grind though, no need to have new armours, new weapons was good enough, strongholds were there for boons , everyone wouldve played them for new weapon and new boons. No need for new armours yet.
Except that you're not handed the new gear on August 11th. There's a lot of work that's going to have to go into getting the new sets. But with new content you HAVE to release new gear to chase after, otherwise what's the point of doing the new stuff (except for fun) for people who've already collected the Elven gear?
I'm always happy to see new gear come out with new content.
Or don't and keep the gear you got by sweating, bleeding and almost dying during these long and hard working hours.
Hahaha, yeah, very true, work 2 months to get the new sets and get to use it a few weeks just in time for mod 8 to pop up and give a new set or artifact equipment and armor sets to farm. The fun is overwhelming.
If they just allowed for RP to drop like rain in strongholds area and the access to powerful boons, everyone would play it, no need for anything else.
But whatever.
As Karakla1 noted, the increase in stats between Elven and Dragonflight is only incremental. You won't be replacing your Elven gear with new green equipment from quests—like with a player level cap raise. In fact, you'll be in a much better position to take on the Dragonflight if you're sporting Elven equipment.
It was mentioned on the preview forums but it bears mentioning here as well: there is no plan to increase the maximum item level on equipment with Module 8. Obviously there will be new equipment and rewards to earn, but the Dragonflight and Lionsmane sets are intended as long term goals over the course of Module 7 and Module 8.
As always, having the best in slot set will make it easier to tackle the new content that comes down the pipe.
Additionally, others have mentioned the increase to dungeon seals with Module 7, this change was planned from the launch of Module 6's dungeons. We will continue to curate old content and rewards to make them more accessible as new content is released.

I envy you, because mod 5 was actually fun. While mod 6 is mega boring and a lot more grindy.
