Returning Player Questions

Yes, sadly another one of these posts.

Basically I got lifetime version of the game at launch, and I did keep up with the expansions. I left when level 60 was the cap and I have a Half-Orc Control Wizard. Which felt strong all the time. I just didn't really have much to do since the grinding was time cap like those facebook games, and keeping up with that just did not appeal to me.

Well Strongholds looks appealing to me, so I want to give the game another big effort. Which means I need to relearn the game, and the best way to do that.... start over.

But I want to start over with a new class, I already have 2 Control Wizards (Before Warlock and Ranger).

On with the questions...

I know Rogue is and probably always will be strong in PvP, but what class is or can be strong in PvP (barring skill of course) and PvE.... Which have group wanted buffs, or combat style suited for raids and what not.

Thanks in advance.

well the new trend is opening a paladin. they are sought for PVE, giving wonderful buffs to group and ok in PVP ( sometimes a whole party can't kill one)

OP will be getting fine-tuned soon. They are sought in PvE because they have a lot of bugs that make completion easier than without them. In PvP... they are not worth fighting. Even though they take a lot of abuse, due to a bug, they cannot kill solo.

The DPS and control leader is the GWF hands down.

TRs are broken but due to some awesome out of the box experimentation there seems to be more choices than previously thought.
Scoundrel: Great control, survivability and really good dps... lowest single-target damage.
Saboteur: Great DPS, good survivability and meh control.
Executioner: Presumably best PvE Dps, Really good survivability and meh control.

I appreciate the information. I have read that Control Wizard is still great for PvE/PvP also... but just looking to play something a bit different. And wow, didn't realize I had 600+ posts on these forums either... it has been a long while.

What about the Ranger and Warlock? Not good enough or too buggy to worry about taking?

No SW... they were seriously nerfed in M6. HRs have one path Trapper... that is decent for both PvE and PvP.
