Which we argue is superbly shortsighted, considering those who level alts up, usually spend more in games.
Will they change it? nope, you know they wont. Why? because a hundred or two hundred (or the top 1% of the gaming crowd) will spend money to level.
There simply was no valid reason to change it, other then for them to make money off leveling, which again.. I point to player-base arguments, if we dont feel like we can level alts, forget about us buying companions, bags, or other specialty items for our alts.
The best we can do is keep blasting away at this change and putting our opinions on review sites, most of them show this game as a nosedive with scores that started in the 70's range, down to the 30's range on user reviews. A lot of that has to do with just how poor and broken mod 6 was.
If we can warn 1-2 people to not join, we are at least doing our part for the mmo world.
+ XP boosters
+ Inscribed Garments
+ Rank 10+ Azure Enchantments
to play.
There is too much gating atm.
AD gating for gmops and rp.
RP gating in terms of not getting from playing the game.
EXP gating in terms of lvl 60-70.. and overflow exp.
ALL of this sums up our frustrating experience with the game = no alts are playable.
If that's truly the case, then there is no hope for them.
Being blinkered in their perception is stopping them from seeing the near overwhelming opinion from the player base
that the XP changes are damaging the games population. Not the population that is leaving, but those who would come in to replace them.
New players are reaching the low 60's and just saying "no tnx!"
-Children of men-
No one is asking for level 60 to 70 on a silver plater. Players are just asking to not flagellate their way to the games end content.
Punishing players that could be spending money later on is not a good business model.
I'm pretty sure that Stockholm syndrome doesn't translate well to MMOs
Must....punish.... myself....(logs in to the Drowned Shore) ....Whip, whip, whip
"Planar Attunement"
system. They should take a look at it, and then come up with something similar enjoyable here...
'tis usually the case. in spite of the flame going against Dev's, it's usually mgmnt that makes the decisions. And not immediate mgmnt...usually someone 3-4 tiers above the Dev's that don't even play the game...they sit in shareholders meetings and look at graphs and "metrics" that were put together by mgmnt that got the data from the tier of mgmnt under them...who got the info for the data from the Devs, who heard about it secondhand from the customer service reps.
Not that all companies do this, but the model is common enough that it's a rare company that doesn't do this. and the changes I've seen here make me think that this company isn't far off that.
It's funny...in many of the MMO's I play, when people say things feel like a "grind", usually it's a combination of 2 things: 1), it simply takes too long, and 2) it's not interesting enough.
Like right now...the level curve for pre-60 is too fast (this is outside of the double exp week we currently have....I'm not even leveling my toons atm cause I'm outsripping interesting content too fast). but early on in the game, it was a pretty nice balance actually. if you did all the quests in the region, and a few dailies, you could keep up with the level curve. it wasn't too fast, it wasn't too slow, it never felt like a grind.
That's due to those 2 things being in place: decent curve, and interesting content. they did neither with Elemental Mistakes. This is why people are leaving in droves. And it's not just the 60-70 curve, it's the post grind. it would be one thing TOTALLY if you simply got a point each time you leveled. or every 2 levels as an example. people would most likely tolerate that. sure its 2 long levels...but you know it's going to happen.
The RNG kills it...literally. people who have bad luck with rolls in general (I am one of those...I simply get bad rolls, I never go to casinos for this reason), I dread the grind post 70...I would rather get a guaranteed skill point every 2-3 levels then what it is now. ESPECIALLY if they base harder content on players having those 4th points...that goes right back to bad design, and lack of efficient cohesiveness in the game.
-BUT change the Elemental Evil zones up; reduce the number of Vigilance Quests you have to take, make it so water is level 61, earth 62, fire 63, and air 64. Sharandar would be changed to level 65 zone, dread ring level 66, IWD level 67. Tyranny of Dragons level 68+
It's okay to have things take a decent amount of time, but only if there's content for it. And for a lot of people, IWD and up is just a brutal place that will smash you dead.
+1. This would have worked.
