With multiple threads with people on both sides of the coin I thought it would be interesting to get a real feel for community thoughts on the matter

I looked through the terms of service on the forums to make sure this wasn't a violation of any rules prior to posting. Also the answers were politically correct and were not biased I don't think. I did provide examples from common thoughts in threads. Thank you for reading.

Honestly the ways that I make AD right now, it doesn't affect me either way. Or I suppose I'm seeing a little more profit because prices of certain mats have dropped lately. I can see the arguments from both sides, but here's the thing. Eventually Tiamat will slow down and the market will likely stabilize as all the T2 have been bought up and either bound or binned. Eventually new players or alts will cycle in and need T2 gear.

However it does seem like it may have been a great idea as far as the sequence went on PC - the game had already been out for over a year, here's a mod to get everyone else caught up with a little time to spare before we raise the level cap. Here we're likely looking at months and months so it was like putting the game on easy mode for those who hadn't already put the work in. I guarantee however their is a study somewhere at PWE that shows that high level players spend more on zen on average, so $$$. Can't really blame them, it might be advertised as a FTP but anyone who believes the Devs are doing this work for free are being naive.

I guess the only thing that bothers me about this whole mess is the "me first" and instant gratification attitudes that seem to stand out amongst the player base. No one wants to work for anything, everyone wanted the Tiamat Orb, their offhand, and the templar pieces Day 1 that Tiamat was out. Anything less lead to rage. I guess maybe just the differences in the generations :( Couple that with the population that was exploiting/shaping the market to their own ends now seeing their profit models take a nose dive and you have a grumpy player base.

I dislike the trade house functionality in this game. The economy is working as it should, as frustrating as it might be to make less ad off item drops. Personally, I am grateful to have a solid group of players who can tackle any dungeon and who are fine taking on a random player and helping them. The mod where we will get greater marks will drop the prices on those, but also help people progress with upgrades.

The game is just WoD and Tiamat now. Dungeons are dead. All I do now is switch on for Tiamat and then do and encounter after in WoD, I can even que for a dungeon and get though a 10-14 min encounter without getting into a dungeon.

I couldn't careless that everybody is getting gear for cheep but It's only coming from one place, that to me has made the game less dynamic and less fun.

Agreed, this about sums the game up at the moment.

    I enjoy it regardless.
The only people I see complaining are mainly the people who made money out of boot/looting, and this has always been the model of PW. Selling gear becomes pointless, so to gain anything of value; Zen is needed to convert to AD.

Can anyone tell me how much on average the Swashbuckling Captain's TR T2 set goes for now (4 pieces) AD wise? Looking at purchasing and don't want to pay over the odds, i'm aware everything has dropped since Tiamat.

    Cheers.

Things swing around back and forth depending on events and who has what gear and how much they're playing alts and what they're working towards. Some are temporary and non-economic (per se) such as when you couldn't sort the TTH and were looking for Lesser Marks of Power (and only got the 400 bid items that were "overpriced" compared to buyouts you couldn't see) and the LMoPower cost more than MoPower. Or during events with professions involved (Wonders of Gond and the huge crafting burdens for making your own, what 50 vitriol for a chance at a green gear thing). Or before RoT, dragon eggs at 30KAD/30G and failed gemmed epic shirt/pants/gambeson/trousers that might only get 12-18KAD back, etc.

Right now, GMofPower at 250K-300K is way out of wack it would seem to me, and there's items for RP that cost .4 AD per (when you need 100,000 rp for a single level, even with 15% discount and 2X rp getting .89 rp per ad) and a few other things. Maybe like Mithral professions items that cover more than one profession (Hammers) or more than one class (Mailsmithing) Or even trying to get 15 Linu's Favor to get one offhand or one armor item; if DHC are 1G or 1KAD to buy, that would make those 1500 gold or 1.5 million ad. Or like the people trying to sell 12,375 AD worth of scrolls (99x greater) for 40G.....

It's almost like the real world figuring out the trends. Which also vary as people play or don't.
