Stuck around 13k GS

soonergmsoonergm Member Posts: 503 Arc User
So I'm kind of stuck around 13100 GS. I don't see how people have 16k+... what do I need to do?

I will outline my equipment a bit. I have split my armor between 2 different t2 sets because it grants more stats in crit and arm pen and is better than the full set bonus. Artifact weapon and belt are upgraded to rare so far and I have 1 artifact that is also rare. Rings and neck are from t2 dungeons. My enchantments are mostly lvl 5 and 6 with. I also have an epic shirt and rare pants... nothing gemmed yet. Now I know I can keep upgrading my artifacts and enchantments but I don't see this getting me to 16k.

I also have Draconic armor from eLoL but when I equip it my GS actually drops below 13k because I lose my set bonuses. That's even if I just do 2 pieces so I can still keep 1 partial set bonus.

So what's the next best step? Should I keep running elol for better rings and neck items? Does castle never drop better equipment than eLoL? I have read that shores accessories provide better GS but I don't like the stats they give. I want to save up AD for a better Vorpal, but should I invest in gemmed shirts and pants instead?

If you just upgraded to rank 7 & 8 enchantments, got yourself a set of gemmed pants and shirt and upgrade to ancient or higher jewelry, you should be able to hit 16k.

For rings, you ultimately want to get the level 20 Jewelcrafting personalized rings as they give great stats and have two enchant slots but the eLoL rings are great rings to have until you get there. even if you don't get the eLoL rings you'll still want to upgrade your t2 rings to ancient ones.

Getting the gemmed shirts and pants and throwing a couple of rank 7's in them will get you up another 600 or so GS on their own. Upgrading your gear will net you a couple hundred points as well.

All in all, if you upgrade your gear to epic, upgraded to rank 7 & 8 enchants, upgraded to gemmed pants and shirt and upgraded your jewelry to ancient or eLoL rings you should easily hit 16k.

Also remember that when you get your artifact off hand you will get a set bonus from your artifact weapons as well.

I'd say you're doing everything right, you just need to upgrade what you've got and you'll get there in no time.

Though they're somewhat expensive, you should purchase the greater armor kits. Each one will add +100 to each piece of armor, for a total of +400 to your GS. I'm not completely sure which different ones you can buy, but for example, I have 4 Deflect Armor Kits on my HR. You can buy them under the 'Consumable' section on the AH, and they are approximately 120K ad each

Just make the armor kits yourself and save the AD. Same with the jewelry unless you're rich. The Wiki is a good place to see what kits you can make with which professions.

Get three artifacts to purple and you should be around 16 k. Rank 7 enchantments are easy to farm and make on your own. They're pretty cheap in the AH as well. Rank 8s take a little time but 100K Refinement isn't too hard. It's getting to 10 that's tough also expensive.

Just one caveat, don't get too hung up on GS. Imo GS is secondary to getting your build right, ie. right stats stacked etc. for your class/build. GS is after all only an indication of character effectiveness.

It's also easier for some classes/builds to gain GS than others. Eg. My SW main t2 armour set bonus contributes significant DPS but adds no GS (not sure if any t2 four piece set bonuses do tbh). I could gain a lot of GS running full draconic, but I'd lose a chunk of DPS as a consequence.

But otherwise, agree with the above. I'd say currently, your biggest return on investment will be rank 7 enchants and gemmed shirt and pants. A third artifact would also be a big boost, but if you're not fortunate with rng (lockboxes or chests etc.) they can be a daunting investment.

It's worth considering the rare (blue) gemmed shirt and pants too, if you're on a budget. Depending on class, they can be significantly cheaper than the epic ones and there's not a huge stat difference between rare and epic, after all it's the two extra enchantments that are really going to bump your GS.

I run into this a lot actually. There are so many ways to increase your stats (which is what your gs is a function of) that it really does take a while to learn them. the most obvious is your 2 missing artifacts...expensive to get but worth it. reinforcement kits help a lot too. An Ioun stone is a major must have. The stats from it don't show on GS I don't think but they are effectively something like 2k worth of stats that are highly customizable to fit where you need them. Then there is the artifact gear its self. Upgrading those will eventually raise their stats tremendously. From What I have seen on the 60s I have, by 13k GS with an Ioun stone you should be at or near the DR caps on crit, ArPen, and recovery and ready to start stacking power so make sure that as you gain those stats beyond their caps, you pull the appropriate enhancements out and put radiant ones in. Another thing that helps a lot is the boons...that's 800 GS right there (200 power , arpen, crit and LS).

As some people have pointed out I believe, there are some things you DO NOT want to do just to raise your stats, like droping 4ps high viz set as a CW...from what I read it is BiS till something like mod 7. I think clerics have a similar deal on one of their sets. Other classes, like a trapper HR, don't need any of their 4pc bonuses and can get 2x t2 2pc bonuses or full Draconic Templar armor for massive stat gains. (couldn't believe my HRs GS went up almost 1k going from 2x t2 2pc to full draconic temp lol). Point being: always be looking to increase your stats but try and make sure they are REAL improvements and not just number padding.

Just an update here. I upgraded a few of my enchantments to level 7. Got 2 rings from eLoL and got a lucky drop from Tiamet yesterday... the orb. Refined that up a bit and that pushed me over 14k.

Spyd3r85 did you have to rework your stats after equipping your full set of draconic templar? It seems like I would lose too much crit and arpen if I went with the full set. Not even an option for me atm, but I have been eyeing it.

there is a very very little difference between rank 8's and 10 so try to get rank 8's for all enchants I have a max gs and my damage is only 3% beter having 11k power over having 9k power a lot of ppl use 2 2sets for 900 gear score and now u can get a 2 set for ur artifact mh/oh and gain 500 from that so u should be easy at 15k + just with rank 7 enchants and epic artifacts with the set bonuses
