it kicks in when you get it to level 20 and 25, destroy enemy camp 1600 ad + battle elemental cultist 2000 ad *3 =10k *a lot of characters* precise rotation of tasks = plenty of ad
I produce around 10k RAD per day.
The task are "Fight off Spellplagued" "Battle Undead" and "Collect Taxes". The necessary maps for Collect Taxes are in the green barrel you get from the task Fight of Spellplagued.
I log in three times a day. At the morning, afternoon and in the evening. No problem.
Platypus wielding a giant hammer, your argument is invalild!
With 10 alts now at lvl 25 leadership and 9 open slots (another 8 on the way there), I make between 861,000 and 1,092,000 AD (all of it instantly refineable, so no RAD backlog) per week by doing nothing more than logging in, praying and resetting professions once per day in the morning. You can make more if you can be bothered to walk your alts more often, but I can't be. Takes me about 30 minutes a day.
I personally like the profession system via the gateway. I can easily set the professions on my 8 characters on the fly while i am at my smartphone and only need around 15 minuteS each rotation. Reminds me of the good old browsergame times.
I wished it would be more immersive. So i really had the feeling to send my troops and craftsmen out to the wilderness.

True. A nice minigame but sometimes i wish i could do more. Like earn every know and then one companion upgrade token or have the ability to upgrade my passice companion instead of logging in and slot them in an active slot.
Edit: Sorry, Sometimes i am only a nagging idiot.
Platypus wielding a giant hammer, your argument is invalild!
Eeeh... i am not a math wiz but 8 character (1 main + 7 Twinks) are 24,000 + ~10,000 x 7 = ~94,000 AD per day. That are around 2,8 Million per Month and this pile of AD is like 50 Bucks worth for like 45 minutes each day. And my characters have around level 18 leadership so you can earn a lot more later on.
Platypus wielding a giant hammer, your argument is invalild!
forever is right - easily months. I once calculated it out based on the assumption I could reset the professions each day. Don't remember the exact figure, but it was several months to go from a new level 4 toon to lvl 60 with 9-slots open and lvl 25 leadership. For me, I've been playing this game since well before closed beta started - I've always liked it, even considering the major missteps in mods 4-6, and even in the leadup to m7 (specifically, the guild account limit). So for me, the long-term time investment is fine. It's positioned me to well now to have an adequate income without having to pay money, which is good since as of m6, I don't feel paying money into NW is a good value - that might change in m7, who knows.
But, yes, it's an enormous time investment to get an alt army engaged in leadership farming. Frankly, given the potential returns, it SHOULD require an enormous time investment.
That is true it takes a while but i am fine with the time investment.
Personaly i would recommend everyone get 6 additional character slots for 1,500 Zen and create 8 character each for one of the class. You can earn with leadership a decent amount of AD and get later the class artifact for free at level 60 which is nice and you can use the spare space to storage some unbound stuff easily.
And if you are clever you buy the additional character slots if a new class is announced where it is most likely on sale and the price is between 750 to 1,200 which means around 10 bucks.

okay, i only thought it would be painful boring and tedious for you that you would despice to do it.
I figured this is the ONLY way for me to finance the adventure couple weeks after I made the first character and that is almost 2 years. Now, I have 8 characters doing that every day since then. No, I do not pay a cent.

My Paladin is 89 days old (Ardent coins tell me) and she'll hit Lvl 25 Leadership this WE or early next week. Three to four reassignment rounds per day.
I did earn quite a lot AD during the prcess, but focused on Leadership XP "Training" tasks when no really lucrative stuff was there up to Lvl 20. I also used several Blue and three Purple Leadership soldiers all the time, but also pulled Jewelcrafting to Level 25 (with only blue and green crafters) and Platesmithing to 20 (Purple + blue).
So, as a rough guesstimate, if you focus on advancing it, three to four months without special assets with three logins seem realistic. And the greatest PitA dearth comes between reachig Lvl 18 and finally unlocking Lvl 21...
Yup, that sounds about right. Once you hit 20, make sure you have 9 level 3 guys (footman or better). Once you hit 25, if you're like me, you'll want 4 or 5 extra mercs as optionals to make sure you can actually reset that 2000AD project around the same time every day. If you don't, it will creep later and later since it's at 24h timer. Adding even a merc makes it just under 23h. (3 for the main project, and some extras for the odd rare that comes up that's also a 24h project)

Leadership pays off in the long-term. You spend a few minutes setting up tasks, and you'll basically never have to worry about buying potions or skill kits, and the AD income will slowly build up. But, hey, the nice thing is that if you don't like it, you don't have to do it...

You cann't get all 9 slots by doing leadership alone.
If you want to make the 9th slot, it means you will need to have 2 extra level 20 profession.
That will cost you may be 3 extra weeks.
For extra merc for the option slot, I always fill it regardless how short the task is.
So, 9 slots, 9 merc.
In level 25, potentially, you can have 6 24 hours tasks. So, saving an hour is good.
Even for 16 hours tasks, it helps me too. I usually set up my leadership just before 8am.
For 16 hours task, without the optional merc, the task will be finished around midnight.
Saving half an hour means I don't need to wait for midnight.
*** The game can read your mind. If you want it, you won't get it. If you don't expect to get it, you will. ***
Getting 9 slots is hard tbh and quite expensive. It will pay off after few months, but it's hella boring to proffessions on more than 10 characters.
I usually skip the "get 3 professions to level 20" slot - even with the better XP/hour ratio of the non-leadership professions, it still takes too much time, IMO.

Yes, I skipped that for the pure farmers too. However, for the play characters that could have a future, I do want him/her to have jewelcrafting. After jewelcrafting, I also give him/her to have Alchemy which does not take too long.

Ignore all Exp tasks they are a waste. The exp per hour is only slightly higher than the ones that give AD(around 10xp per hour more). Gain AD and get EXP.
The only tasks that are good for exp are at 21 and 23 when the exp per hour jumps to 62.5xp/hr from 20-30xp/hr
The "fastest exp" before 21 is from doing Chart The region and Explore Local Area(to get maps for Chart).
Patrol the Mines and Wargames are only 30xp/hr but you dont need materials/reagents.
Feed the needy is also 30xp/hr but you need to be able to refresh it every 10minutes lol GL with that.
If you focus only one exp per hour you will waste MILLIONS of AD.

Oh you don't, you'll delay the higher gain by not going that way. I did an estimation in Mod 3 and found the break even point to be somewhere after 6 weeks. This is when the loss now - by not making AD - is compensated by the very much accelerated access to higher reward high-level tasks, and the resulting higher income...
Example: You can make 100 AD now and get half the XP. The ten days it would then take you to reach the next AD-generating task that nets you 200 AD are prolonged to twenty. So you gain 100 x 10 = 1000 AD now, but you lose the same amount again by making 100 AD instead of 200 AD for the ten days after. That would be the balanced case.
The story continues throughout the diverse tiers of income increase, though, and this then nets you a loss: The upgrade to 400 AD per day will also be delayed by these ten days - losing you 10 x 200 AD - etc., so the net loss will hit you sooner or later...
Of course, the opportunity cost of not having these AD now (and often also associated char XP!) might also factor in etc., this can be dicussed in many levels of complexity, but basically it's a matter of balancing your AD need NOW versus the greater AD profit later.
As a rule of thumb: When I get highly profitable (often rare) tasks I have the ressources for now, I'll do them (example: Protect Diamond Shipment), same for tasks I'll anyway run as optimum in the end, too (e.g. not running "Destroy Enemy Camp" after hitting Lvl 20 doesn't make sense). But the hosekeeping "Fight off Spellplagued" + "Destroy Undead" + "Protect market" gives you a lowly income now, but massively extends your time in relative poverty...

I'd also add that you should plan tasks around your life, and not the other way around. For instance, even though 'Patrol the Mines' can give you as much XP in the same amount of time as 'War Games Training', (240 Leadership XP in 8 hrs), it is a 4 hr task - so unless you're going to be around the moment said task completes, to start it again, (and assuming you want the best leadership XP/hr), then you might as well do 'War Games Training' instead. Of course, 'Patrol the Mines' gives you the mining claim for Protect Diamond Shipment, as well as some XP and gold - so if those are what you're after, then go right ahead.

Buy or Borrow 3 Epic Philosopher stones and an Epic Crucible, 2 Epic Grand Alchemists.
Use the 2 Grand Alchemists on your first level up in Alchemy. Rank 1 experiment.
Then get Alchemy to level 3 on each character wait for the rare to show up and get a rank 3 potion reward using the 3 philosopher stones at a 60% chance(RNG is a cruel mistress so you may want to just use AD to finish the task).
By the time you reach level 60 you will have 7 of 9 slots from leadership then when you hit rank 20 leadership you will have 8. Its not worth going for the 9th slot from leveling 2 other professions to 20 except on your main since you should be capping it without leadership.

I wish you did not use cash value because that makes it sounds like a very lousy deal. It is a $2.22 hourly rate.
That is why I suggest not to associate that with cash value because that is a "depressing" number.
i.e.
That are around 2,8 Million per Month worth for like 45 minutes each day.
