Do Pinatas drop anything worth the time taken to beat them up ?

qexoticqexotic Member, NW M9 Playtest Posts: 841 Arc User
This might sound like a silly question but after just taking down my first Pinata from the Summer Festival, I received a handful of Rank 1 enchantments, some petals and a few coppers. If this is all they contain, then this may well be the last one I bother with. Are there some interesting items courtesy of NW RNG as there were in the Winter Festival equivalent or are Rank 1 enchants the main highlight ?

You get plenty of event food of all sorts too and rarely a curio token (used to get that Xvim belt from that PE npc). Other than that its mostly junks like u said.

They used to drop the Ancient curio that you could swap for the Slayer belt of xvim which can be useful if you are leveling an alt but for a level 70 it isn't much use , apart from that it is just food buffs and low level enchantments and healing pots , could probably use a loot table pass whenever the devs get round to it , look here for a full list - http://neverwinter.gamepedia.com/Piñata

So, basically a waste of time as I'm a Lvl 70. Shame it isn't like the Winter Festival where you could get fun stuff like Lliira's Bell, Doohickey and some useful Companions from the Starlight Parcels and Bags. Roll on Winter :)

Do remember that the Xvim belt (and rings) are a recycling bind-to-account; even after wearing it and leveling on one toon you can unequip and still transfer it to another toon for leveling or whatever in perpetuity (Unless you transmute it - then it becomes bound to character). Just thought I'd mention as an FYI for those people unaware of this.

I like them. They are a nice gimmick to share. I plan to get a ton of pinatas this year again :D

Now, I like to know if it has 1 million HP and 55% damage resistance. ;)

it cost 50 petals, full stack of 99 will cost almost 5k petals, go to seed zones (water/earth or fire/air seed), so no one else take or camp you to steal items, took me few hours, and need 18-20 empty slots, you get back about 3k petals ( that i used about 60 pinatas), plus vendor merchant give almost 2-3 golds for unwanted foods and potions, and lot of runes and enchants fodders (rank 1-4's).
buy Pinatas before end of festival and save for next year as when you need petals back for newer items.

The only purpose of the pinata is to drop it on rpers in the moonstone mask and giggle as some level 4 spends 10 minutes beating it up as the rpers one handed rage whisper you. Its worth so much more than what they are selling it for.

I still have 60 left from last year on my guardian fighter. Just never bothered to open them.

They are also a way to "transfer" petals to another account, be it your second account, a guildie or, in my case, a lazy wife.

How? Mine is character bound.

If you're asking that question, then a good chance it won't drop anything worth your time.

These events are a fun bonus.. A distraction or break from the grind.

break from the grind.
It is? Have you tried to save up pedals? I'd say it's more of a distraction by giving you a different place to grind rather than a break from it...

Sure, it's "just another grind", but "that's what all the other MMOs are doing". Gods forbid that there's a game that actually makes you *think* and *work* for something. The masses wouldn't like that. They want everything handed to them on silver platters, then whine because they have everything and the game is boring.

Yeah.. I make the rounds every day.. sometimes it's nice to pick flowers and chase pigs, or engage with guildies for a water balloon fight. Best. PvP. Ever. right there.

But, on the other hand, there aren't any rewards there that I want or need. So I goof off at the Summer Festival for awhile and have fun with it. And yeah, give my partner whatever I can, because she wants a pig. Why? Because it's cute.

Seriously.. I think myself and most of our guildies are having way more fun in this game than most others are.. sure, I've made some "b*tch about it" threads, but whatever. It is what it is, and Mythbusters proved that you can polish even a HAMSTER.

Not a criticism but rather a suggestion - if you're going to rehash events, at least increase the items' perceived value. The Xvim stuff is so mod 4 ;)

agreed. the food buffs are mod1, not worth the time it takes to use them at level 70. oh boy 1600 hp, I WILL NOW LIVE FOREVERRRRR

How many Pinatas do I have to go through before I get a curio for the madman?
• mattsacremattsacre Member Posts: 330 Arc User
total random
• mattsacremattsacre Member Posts: 330 Arc User
could be 1 could be 1001.
Didn't last yr the pinata also (rarely) drop non BoP pets? I seem to remember that non BoP piggies were all the rage last yr. and there was a minirage fest that the vendor was BoP but there were piggies on the AH and folks accused others of exploits until Cryptic confirmed that there was piggy drops from pinata.

Could be misremembering...but there was some BoP and BoE issues last yr for sure.

I know I got the BoE piggy from the summer event somehow..thats why i figure pinata, i created a alt account just after the summer event last yr and gave the piggy to one and the other got a christmas pig from a random drop.

So if the pinata drop tables haven't been ALTERED from last yr :) They should drop the curio for the xvrim item and a companion BoE as well as food, petals and coin.
