Give the devs a break!

First off, yes this game has issues, so be it... its free to play. However it does give you a chance to dump real cash into it. That's your choice. In all honesty, if no one at all put any money into the game then it would dissappear from xbox... no profit for devs means they are not able to pay their expenses. I've personally put close to $100 into it. Why? Because a normal game cost $60 and I enjoy the game so I've put in extra to give me a boost.
the major thing people seem to fail to realize is that the devs have to unfortunately go through Microsoft for every bit of changes made, which takes time..on top of that MS may sometimes not approve the change.
Another thing this game sorta has a mini stock market in it. If they do something wrong it could cause the market to fail, resulting in loss of players, and loss of cash for them. However you look at it, the devs can't keep the game going without any cash flow, no company can.
As for the current, past, and future bugs, IT HAPPENS.... I'm not a developer, but even I know that there is massive amount of codes in the game. Finding them takes time, adding new could easily break old, fixing one old problem could add new code breaks...
sorry for the book but I like coming to these fourms for help and information, not to read about people knocking the game and devs (if you don't like the game stop playing). "I've put X amount of cash in this game and they better fix it"...... reality, they could shut the server down for good right now and there is nothing anyone could do. Just read the terms of use..

Look at your very last sentence concerning the server, and think about what you posted. You are not thinking ahead, just on the present. You also don't seem to notice the 2 year history either. People are not upset at the game, they never have been. It's a good concept. People are upset at the fact there is a brick wall set up between the player, and the developer. One hand has no clue what the other is doing. The moderators honestly cannot even keep the two sides communicating. For example vote kicking at the boss ... " We do not condone it in any way, we will fix is ASAP... There was a thousand post thread just on that for example when this hit the XBOX. That has been discussed for 2 years along with a statement they don't ensorse it.... you cannot keep giving them the benefit of the doubt when they refuse to address the obvious. Another point, is that this thread will stay up, until a civil debate comes up, then it may very well disappear .

" So, in reality, they could shut the server down for good right now......" that's pure logical thought. just saying.

Outside of thread kicking issue, which I had fun annoying a group jumping back into their game only to get kicked at least five times, (I needed the laugh) the game has been running really well, and i have not ran into lag issues out of of Protectors and to me that was the biggest issue I wanted to see resolved.

Issues we get fixed, may not be in the order people would like but eventually it will. On top of the fact the population still wants them to provide new content modules, which can add new issues. There is only so much time in the day and so many people to do the work, not an excuse but fact. Again, issues will be addressed in the manner of importance all the while preping for the next module release.

Twiggle berry. Why don't you head over to WoW's twitter right now, and have a look at how this 15yr old ( or whatever) MMO is getting abuse just like Neverwinter is. That game has had years of experience, and still has issues, which angry gamers POUNCE on with rage. MMOs constantly evolve, sometimes it's 1 step forward 2 steps back, sometimes it's 5 steps forward 1 step back.

WoW wants £9 a month to annoy you with issues. Neverwinter offers you the chance to support them. Your never forced, just maybe tempted

Bottom line is if you like the game, like myself, the issues won't phase you one bit.

Since launch iv seen many issues, never once felt mad. The only issue that actually prevented my progression was speaking to Felon on Tiamat release. Yeah, annoying, but I logged off, came back 10 hours later. It was fixed.

I say they are doing a fine job. Especially considering they are new to the console platform.

    Keep it up Cryptic

I don't need to deal with another game thats old and tired.. The topic is this game. You have just reinforced the fact even further by bringing another game up to try to compare it with. just saying. there is a night & day difference in how they communicate though. A console has no bearing on how to design a game's mechanics.

A console has no bearing on the design of game mechanics.... That comment right there just showed me you are not worth entertaining.

You haven't a clue what your talking about. Have fun moaning

I love how people use the excuse along the lines of "It's a FREE to play game, what do you expect?" to defend the developers, when in fact.. free to play games amass more revenue for developers, so they are making much much more then you think.

Do you fail to realize that Cryptic is basically copy and pasting bits and pieces of the PC version straight to console (Even the bugs that THEY KNOW ABOUT?) It's blatently obvious. How about those renown bags from 2 events ago?? Yeah those are STILL broken on the PC version.. That's just one of many many examples to prove my point.

There needs to be more release/go-live maturity by the software development and product mgmt team. I really think they need to create a test sandbox environment for xbox one players similar to pc where these patches and changes can be tested before production go-live

They could do this by creating a dupe app on the xb1 (call it "NW Test" to distinguish between the two) that can be downloaded seperately so it's a unique instance. Would be great for arc/cryptic to include some minor reward to encourage people to login to the test server and give it a go, but I think many of the problems with these code drops could be flushed out via volunteer testing since it wouldn't take more than 15 people to catch many of these issues. Messaging along the lines of "the new patch is planned to drop on day x @ time y; plz be sure to play some quests/dungeons/events to help us with performance" followed by a list of updates would be welcomed by the community

Totally get they probably don't have the funds for a robust test team, so leveraging the community really does make the most sense and is currently a wasted opportunity....

The problem with that would be to get Microsoft to actually sign off on it. Microsoft is extremely picky with what it allowed to touch their servers (anything on Xbox touches their servers).
My opinions are my own. I do not work for PWE or Cryptic. - Forum Rules - Protector's Enclave Discord - I play on Xbox
