Gear Based PvP

It's simple, Set a max Gear score/ Total "Item level" for the level 70's who want to enjoy the game. Simple brackets
for level 70's
like....
1600-max
or
1800-max
then another queue for:
1900-max
or
2000- max
and so on.

then for the leet players they can fight each other and complain about something else...
3k-4k Queue's

It's very discouraging as a PvP player to join up with this game, even donated a few times and get set in a queue with either a bunch of newbs vs HIGH ger scored players. or guild a pre-made.. I play the game based on PvP and I will not play the game if I can't even PvP because the odd miss matching of PvP queue's. it's a head ache.
Maybe if the epic dungeons weren't so Beefed, people wouldn't have to manipulate the game to beat bosses. :/ just sayin

This suggestion is almost as old as Neverwinter, so far nothing has been done

Because it lengthens queue times and they repeatedly stated they don't want to go that route. Plus, it's only a workaround for imbalanced matches. People voting for ilvl brackets (or similar) want a more strict implementation of the matchmaking, it would serve the same purpose.

its too divisional and 100 i level points is meaningless.. however 1000 isnt.

Just make a simple division under 3k and above 3k.

Or whatever # you want around that range.

Its better then what they have.

Matchmaking isn't so much the problem as it is team layout.

Party queue PVP should not necessitate that you are on the same team, it should only necessitate you are in the same match.

Teams should then have team builds ala Dota 2 Captain Draft. RNG 1st team gets DC, 2nd Team next DC (Or if has no DC gets GF/OP and then gets first pick for round 2 so on & so forth. This will NOT solve the IL issue, but it will spread out the better geared players instead of leaving them stacked.

Splitting at arbitrary numbers of ilvl doesn't seem very meaningful, it could be exploited.

Refining this suggestion to match to only those whose ilvl is within a certain percentage that increases as ilvl increases and when possible.

Related - kills weighted against the ilvl of the dead would be nice

    I disagree

I think it should be luck of the draw

Mainly cause my GF needs the gear to be completive

This has been suggested before and I did the math before. You can join PvP with full PvP set, full legendary artefact gear, full mystic artefacts, transendend weapon and armor enchants, some R 12s and stay UNDER 2.5k, if you skip two ring/s and/or garment, armor/ jewelery enhancements and some R 12s.

Their stats will still be near twice as high, as an average 2.5k IL player. The numbers assingned to items do not match their real value. For example a mystic artefact has half the CD of a legendary one, twice the stats and somrthing like 20 more IL.

all you need is 2 queues

one for teams/premades and one for singles

    Start with that

Ahh, but here is the thing about scores! If I wanted to queue to pugstomp, all I would have to do is take off a few pieces of armor... Started at 3.3K... Ah, 1.7K, this will do nicely. Waiting in queue... I'm in! =s

They could do a formula like matches won to matches loss along with item level, every PvP match making is messed up and if you really want to be technical about it, take out certain classes you know will fail in PvP such as SW (cannon fodder/easy kill of the game).

The developers have done a HAMSTER poor job in maintain some type of balance in PvP with classes in this game, more so than any other I have played (WOW Paladins were bad but not this bad.).
I may not be considered by most the BEST PVP Warlock on the server but, I am the most HATED amongst them.

K so if someone wanted to exploit and take some gear off then put it back on while in the Match, there should be something like an auto boot from Match when putting it back on... simple.

If they implement anything my prefered options would be:

    1. Premade and PUG que.
    2. We did not find players in your bracked. If you dont want to be matched with/ against players significant above/below your IL decline and que again.

Most annoying, PUG team against BIS premade.

Second to that and sometimes more frustrating. ~1.6k IL teammates (and me, depending on char, 2,4-3.5k IL) against ~2.5k IL enemies. I could kill 80% of them 1v1, but you get zerged 1v3, bc your team is either on the home node or in respawn.

Bunch of newbies - support and talk them through strategy, and basics. No yelling, or name calling.

VS high IL people - Enjoy the defeat best you can. If you feel you simply don't want a loss on the scoreboard leave party, and accept the leaver penalty plus irate tells.

Everyone needs remember it's not about the kills - it's about fighting on the towers. Sure the PvP campaign records kills, but if you're worried on leaderboard then forget your PvP campaign progress meanwhiles. Just focus on wins.

Black Ice Gear - It has your IL vary according to how much it is or isn't charged. In theory one could que with it less charged, charge it whilst the countdown is going on, and then have a slightly higher IL in the match than when you qued - or so the theory goes.

I've been yelled at for using my Tiamat's Orb of Majesty instead of a Banner. I have been called "idiot" for having around 28K HP, but still making more kills than a GWF.

Quite honestly the only way to win PvP is a good attitude rather than points.

I like this idea a lot. Simple.

Not saying the technology of it is simple, just the concept. ;)

Premade vs. pug queue is intriguing, but it ignores the fact that there are really 2 variations of a 'premade' group, and they're completely different. In PVP forums, it always means '7337 pvp guild with voice chat and ultra supreme artifacts and dripping in BiS enchantments', but what happens to a bunch of casual players who want to log in, form a group and go do something together? Half the time, these groups of casual players are worse than a randomly assigned pug, where at least a few of the players might be competitive, and you're not going to get a lot of support from people if you tell them that their options are to not play together, or to get ROFLStomped by a hard core team.

Even with this type of system there will be people that will game it. You will have BIS players will full boons gear down in ways you wouldn't expect to compete. Like taking off utility enchants or not using jewelry reinforcement kits to get within the required gear score to compete. You would also need to make so you couldn't change gear once you have queued.

Its a good idea. In most cases this pvp is 1 sided if there is at least 1 guy with 3k gear you can simply afk after caping 600 pts to loose match no fun at all. And gear score should work this way: 1. Check max score you had on character 2. Record gear score 3. make gear score ranged quees 1500-1700/1700-1900/ etc. (other way it would be abuse take off items than equip or smth like that and fight low people)

yea..this is a good start...solo queue and group queue(need 5 ppl to enter)
but 3,5-4kIL player enter solo will kill you (low IL)all or OP/DC 3,5k-4k IL will be immortal ..same situation...

well IMHO..i think..lets remove Tenacity at all....so fresh lvl 70 player (currently wear PVE armor) can participate well in PvP. ...so players have 2 choices..can farm armor for PvE or choose to farm PvP armor..

for what happen right now...lets say..i dinged 70..but i have good PVE armors from dungeon etc..i cant do well in pvp..because of tenacity..yes..i can buy tenacity gear.. blue one from AH..not good stat gear ofc..i will get roflstomped by players who got BiS/3k-4k IL gears or i cant kill high lvl IL camping the node...same situation again..low IL meet high/uber IL ...

but if tenacity gone...it will different story for all of us..thats my 2 cents....

    Seriously,
They try to do it, that way how the devs wanted and it doesn't work,
as you see, it's absolutely Broken the matchmaking is Unbalanced, like always.

So it's time to try it that way NOW:

    * Gear Base / Item Level
    * or tenacity %

A Fixed % Percent of Tenacity to join a Match or Per Item Level.
    one of those Requirement.

(the important thing is to have a Requirement on it.)

    I Would say:

    1) they should add second-Queue for 5v5DOM with Requirement,
just with Better Rewards and Higher Glory etc, it could call Advanced Domination.

    2) The OLD, the First-Queue 5v5, Will stay how is it with No Requirement, no change
just with lower Rewards, Less Glory etc.

(this is just for 5v5 DOM, Grym-Domination will stay how is it.
Because 5v5 is more intense and it's the main Domination PvP)

So Simply is it! Devs try this way now.
