The person who placed second and got the only silver donated his amount in the first few seconds of the event and never actually gathered anything in PE.
I placed first and got bronze. I only deposited what I picked up in the event time and participated through the whole thing.
Yeah some seriously strange stuff is going on with that event. I gathered 90-ish in loot drops and 30-ish in PE and got first place. Only to get Bronze. Second place getting Silver and third getting Bronze. Something tells me that there's a bug somewhere not allowing for Gold bracket.

And where does the cooperation come in to play that @sturmslinger mentioned?
I could be mistaken but it could be that the Professional Fireworks aren't bound, so you can ask your friends for theirs if they aren't using them to participate in the event.

True, they are not bound, but that means some people have to choose not to participate in getting the rewards to benefit others. Bad solution for trying to promote cooperative play.
At least with attaining Copper, you get a [Llira's Token], whereas if you get Bronze, you get nothing but the fireworks, and twice (unfortunately I do not have any evidence like yours to prove it) I ranked second, but received the Copper reward as there was no Silver given - it went straight from Gold to Bronze.

You must use at least 200 Fireworks to guarantee a token. 500 or more guarantees 2 tokens. Anything less than 200 and you only have a small chance to get a token. This is where the cooperation comes in, I think.

Perhaps, but anytime I've got Copper, I've got a token. Any time I've got Bronze, I got nothing but the fireworks. Just seems a little strange to me.

That does seem a bit odd.

I just posted a bug where even if you do the event, make the effort, you don't even get anything. Never mind the favor but to not even get one firework?
