The Leader Board, as is, puts too much emphasis on the individual, and takes away from what I feel D&D is all about. YES, we all want to know how well we performed, BUT, but it should be how well YOU performed, not how you did "this" compared to the rest in your squad. By "this" I mean things like damage dealt, mobs killed, etc... the healer, for example, shouldn't be expected to deal the most damage or (unless others on the squad are failing hard) take the most damage) but those are the "stats" the Leader Board stresses.
I think a more "personal" Leader Board would put a better emphasis on team play. It would be more like a lot of co-op shooters I play where at the end of the "level" it says "YOU (both) WIN!!! And here is how you did with what you were supposed to do."

The leaderboard in Tiamat, however, is another discussion for another day.
If one chooses to look at the board, generally, the healer should mostly pay attention to the Most healed, the Tank -Damage taken, Crowd control -Most enemies killed, general DPS -Most damage and everyone to the most times fallen. Hybrid characters (DPS cleric/TempLock, for example) may wish to watch 2 areas.
I will admit that I don't always follow my own advice and my lunatic cleric takes a perverse pleasure rotating her Executioner, Paingiver and Living Dead titles and not as much from the Field Medic one. But, it was fun making the attempts and completing the dungeon/skirmish title achievements. And I guess I like the individual recognition on the leaderboard.
The point of your post about the D&D feel and cooperation are part of the reasons given for no leaderboards for HEs. Heroic Encounters are what they wanted to be recognized for team/group effort.
