Hypnotic and Volcanic

I'm seeing a consistent inconsistency with Volcanic and Hypnotic abilities triggering early? Larger hit box? I'm not sure which issue is going on, but I'll be fighting these types of bosses, and won't be in its radius box and I'll just die from the damage. As or just after I'm dying is when the hit box will either disappear for volcanic giving its visual, or Hypnotic will usually move to me quickly before expiring. sometimes it appears to just disappear where it was.
