mind mage movement bug

I have been playing as mind mage and noticed that there are times that movement is temporarily disabled. this happens often for me. my actions prior to this are casting some spells in quick succession while using the left analog stick on an xbox one controller to look in the direction I want to use them in. I think this bugs my movement. the last game I played, it became Permanente even after death. I was only able to move around using abilities like icy river which usually lets me move around again. anyone else experience this or is it just me?
