  • What's odd to me is to listen to/read all of the old players so dismissive about the potential theft of someone else's property. Consensus from a lot of folk is that it's OK the code was stolen/used without permission simply because they hate NCSoft - not to mention any security breach issues with personal account data. I…
  • I'm guessing that NCSoft will be issuing a cease and desist notice any time now. I certainly hope that there is no personal account information included with this.
  • So you're moving to a new system before you've had a chance to really see what's under the hood? Something isn't right there....
  • Simple answer - this game doesn't involve any of the characters, places or events from the stuff that people are going crazy for.
  • The anniversary event was launched recently for STO which caused quite a lot of lag and rubberbanding. Supposedly this was to have resolved itself over the course of a few days as we were told by the Devs.
  • Which, more often than not, are even more crappy and more stupid than the auto-generated missions.
  • Not specifically, however the right to keep and bear arms is one of the many reasons why early Americans fought for independence. America didn't win the war for independence by farting on the British.
  • Either that or they're using CO to develop something they want to use in another forthcoming title.
  • Positive thinking is not going to accomplish anywhere near as much as spending money on the game. If you truly want to support Champions Online, start spending money on it. Start spending a lot of money, and start getting your friends to spend a lot of money on it. That's going to get Cryptic/PWE to start investing in…
  • I agree with you completely. If CO is not performing well, neglecting development even more is certainly not going to help it grow. With that said, we aren't Cryptic/PWE so all we can do is express our thoughts to them and vote with our wallets.
  • I can understand it, especially after reading Dan Stahl's latest posts/interviews about STO. The gist of it is, at least how I understood it, Cryptic's level of development is commensurate with how well the game is doing. If the game isn't generating a ton of income for them, they aren't going to spend a ton of…
  • A lot has happened since the time of that interview and article. Cryptic was still owned by Atari. Now they're owned by PWE. Things change. That is not a defense of the lack of support for CO on Cryptic's part, however. It's fairly evident that STO has a much larger playerbase and a much larger fanbase, especially…
  • Ignoring the fact that you're guessing how many people see the CO launcher in a week, this ad is also showing on the launcher for STO, which according to the latest posts from Cryptic there are "over 2 million Captains". That's good exposure no matter how you slice it. It's also obviously a part of an overall advertising…
  • So? What's the difference? If my telling a friend about it leads to a sale for them, what do they care? Word of mouth can go a long way.
  • It might. I see the ad and refer a friend to it. I buy a sub to their new game and try it out and if I like it, refer more people to it. I may post about it on a social media site to my connections. Those are just a few.
  • I understand that the post I quoted was not from a Cryptic employee. I included it for reference as I said there is a similar discussion on the STO forums. As I said, if you want to believe that then more power to you. I'd personally prefer to have the facts from someone who is qualified to answer. Thanks tho :)
  • Not quite sure it is wrong, but if you'd like to continue believing it isn't more power to you.
  • I'm fairly positive Cryptic/PWE cannot have customers adding art and other assets to the game for free. This would more than likely be illegal as it would violate any number of labor laws. There is a similar discussion on the STO Forums about this.
  • I'd like to second this. Please, enough with the lockboxes already. It doesn't seem like STO is going to get much better. There looks to be even MORE rep farming/grinds and lockboxes in store for STO. :(
  • The flip side being, if Cryptic doesn't add anything to the game, there is no growth and thereby no new players/money coming in.
  • Neither do I, yet I can see how someone might interpret this response Dan Stahl provided. So Cryptic ramping up the development staff and going to a 6 day work week is a response to the success of STO. There seems to have been very little development activity here. Does that mean CO is not doing so well?
  • I did mean it to be a serious question. I'm genuinely curious if the 6 day work week is applied to all Cryptic titles.
  • Where might one get the code to try?
  • My apologies, my post wasn't meant to be insulting in any way. I am genuinely curious if the increased work week applied to all of Cryptic's titles, not just STO. Please accept my apologies if my post was taken as insulting. That wasn't the intent at all.
  • There is a lot of repetition in User Generated content as well. All depends on the author.
  • I agree. The Lockboxes are nothing more than a sleezy cash grab IMO. This is a downside of PWE buying Cryptic. These are never going to to away and they'll only get worse from here on out. Lockboxes ruined STO for me. It's sad to see them here in CO too.
  • No leap of faith required actually. Star Trek is a multi-billion dollar, internationally cherished IP that's been around for 46 years and counting. The Champions IP doesn't even come close to comparing in terms of size of fan base. I don't disagree. I'm right behind you and everyone else who would love for CO to get more…
  • Yes, and the reason more money was put into the Star Trek IP is, as I originally stated, due to a much larger international audience. It's a no brainer why STO is chosen to get more development love than CO. That's not to say CO will never get any updates, but IMO they are going to be very few until NWN is released.
  • The Star Trek IP has a much larger international audience than CO does. That shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone as to why more resources are being thrown at STO and NWN. With that said, never adding anything to CO isn't going to help it grow. The question is whether or not Cryptic/PWE feel the ROI for any new…
  • And there is a CRAP TON more of them in STO. Honestly, I still get decent drops and the lockboxes are few and far between here in CO as opposed to STO.
  • I had 23 level 50s in CoH before the lights went out. I leveled all of them from 1 to 50 solo unless running TFs or SFs. I teamed in CoH because I wanted to, not because I had to. CO is no different. I still team with friends and SG mates because it's fun to do so. If I'm forced to team up, then I'll find another game…
  • +1 for sheer hilarity!
  • STO is not getting a whole hell of a lot either. They are relying on the Foundry to provide all the story content so they can spend their time developing more lockboxes.
  • +1 for pure awesomeness!
  • Thank you for the advice and for sharing your builds. I appreciate the help. Are there any "must have" advantages for unarmed builds? Also, where can one find information on stat caps for CO? CoX had a great tool (Mids Hero Designer) that helped with builds and gave all the stats. Is there something similar for…
