Hey, it took about 5 years to get WCOC station open to players.
We still have chance to get the academy open.

I don't think they'll spend too much time on this one. It isn't the main campus.

Though I would like to see them lift from the Trismegistus Council area from VB or the New Shadows area. Looks like a proper school.

They should just copy and paste the insides of those buildings. Add a few NPCs and be done, BAM, social instance.

Last time when Cryptic Los Gatos was working on a costume, they did broke a slew of other costume parts and a character model.

You sure you want them setting up any building interiors?

Given their record it might end with game instances being randomly broken, lol.

Sorry, not with this kind of "dream team".

Better they stick to reusing the simplest game assets. For now at least.

Yes, because this team had put together many great missions in the past. They are the ones that gave us the Comic Series and Adventure pack (I believe.) I am fine with there mission work, costumes...well they do not need to make any custom costumes in the social instance so it should be fine.

I don't believe it's exactly the same team. At best they're working under the same manager.

Probably, but right now I am just refusing to be negative about at least one thing going on with this game.

I am not sure why should be getting excited for three measly buildings.

I'm not sure why I should be excited for a new tutorial.

There is excited, then there is what I am feeling now, which is the opposite of excited.

I think I might even feel a little bitter.

I put a lot of time and money into this game, it's one of my favorites because of genre.

I see this and I all it's telling me is.

"No, we're going to fix the stuff that's broken, much less even create new content. Here's a bunch of crap we just sort of threw together."

Why does everything need to look the same?

Renaissance Center looks nothing like Downtown! The Champions Building looks nothing like Downtown! Downtown looks nothing like City Center! The Argent Building looks nothing like City Center! The PSI building looks nothing like City Center! City Center looks nothing like Westside! The prison looks nothing like Westside! Little China looks nothing like Westside!

Where's the outrage for all these sore thumbs?!

Are you actually comparing three buildings to entire districts? Hm... it seems you are.

I understand that cities have a lot of varied buildings, but that's missing the forest for the trees. None of the areas you've listed look so... abrupt. They were designed with the rest of the map in mind. It's like these three Gothic houses were ripped straight out of Vibora Bay (because, texture wise, they essentially were) and just dropped randomly in the RenCen park without any planning or forethought. Shewolf was right about the uncanny valley being visible and their lighting which matches Vibora's eternal night but not Millennium City's full day cycle is a big contributor. It clashes not just in architecture, but in general rendering.

And buildings within the districts. Can you show me any triangular green buildings in City Center other than Argent? Can you show me any buildings in City Center that have large glowing purple shafts shooting out of them? Can you show me anywhere in West Side where there's any sort of Asian-inspired architecture other than those two arches leading into little China? What about that Asian garden in Downtown? All sore thumbs! Or not, nobody complains about them.

What about the fact that the City Hall and Museum look nothing like any of the other buildings? And what about the fact that they used the same buildings and architecture for the Museum in Vibora Bay? Why didn't anyone call foul on that?

Is it because you'd expect these kind of institutions to have a different look?

Then why not an educational institution?

I wouldn't say without any planning or forethought, but this is the most-accurate part you said. Without planning would mean they wouldn't have walkways leading to the doors, a small fence around the thing, NPCs, etc.

Could it use a bit more love and look nicer? Yes. But is it so far out of place that it's intolerable? Not hardly.

I agree the inner lighting of the buildings should be "shut off", but that's really the only issue that makes it stand out for me. Not a big dealbreaker, though. So they don't care about wasting some electricity now and then. Maybe they have an electricity-powered janitor or something.

You missed the general point that it was all of these features put together that make them stand out so terribly. Alone, they might be just on random, varied feature, but it's rather ugly to have these three buildings right off of RenCen with this darker Vibora texture combined with the old, Gothic architecture, and the bright yellow lights inside. It frankly shows that the map editor didn't care enough to alter the buildings a little so that they more easily matched the lighting of Millennium City. It's sloppy and lazy and that makes it all the more awful.

I think they are quite bad. They stick out worse than a sore thumb, and they do look like they were just slapped down without much care. This is one of the things that disappoints me now with Champions, a lot of the building of new content is done haphazardly without actual care or loving design they use to put into such things. Even if the structure was unusual they would alter it some or add things to help it fit in the past. Now, they just plop down any old thing and call it done.

Those buildings are in no way connected to their environment.

The entire park layout is unchanged, so anyone flying high can see old sidewalks underneath.

Also, usually when buildings like these are placed anywhere, they have their own base. There should be a concrete or brick elevation underneath the buildings.

As for the fence, usually when this kind of iron fence is placed around buildings like schools or institutions, it's placed on its own concrete or brick base.

Add VB textures to it and they look completely out of place.

Plus, VB buildings are made to look old and worn. It's expected, given their age. But this one is a new campus and those buildings look simply too old. Even if someone was raising a completely new building in this style, it would still look new. The concrete would be creamy gray, the brick would be crisp and clean brown or orange.

It's still a cheap craftsmanship and does not speak too highly about the attitude.

Or about available resources... Maybe there's no environmental artist to work on it.

In-universe? The board of trustees has one building style of which they approve. Just because those upstarts in Detr- pardon me, Millennium City want to use some silly ultramodern art deco style, does not mean that Ravenswood Academy will bow to the whims of mere fashion! This institution stands for something, ladies and gentlemen!

...Sorry, just started to put myself in the place of one of the trustees.

Man, you guys are so lucky. I've try many times to get out there and never could. I've been stuck under the city, out side the back of the city and even stuck a few times on top of the bubble over the city, but I could never find the crack that would let my hero land on that water logged bugship. :s

Hopefully. I can't imagine why a school would willingly paint its walls with grit.

    I have doubts about that.

The biggest problem I have with the new forums, is that I have to go to the individual cats to see if there is anything new. And I think none is really going to do that on the less used ones, so those will probably die out completely now.
