... So it's a pony rave? That might actually be amazing. I'd secretly assumed that 3/4ths of the unironic bronies were plur kids, it definitely explains a few things.

It's easy to make fun of due to the subject of the show, but the reality is the con is a lot of fun and filled with wonderful people. I've attended bronycon the past three years as a vendor and I'm always amazed at the amount of talent and creativity I see in the artist halls. I've learned quite a lot about marketing and gotten many pointers, tips and tricks to improve my product lines. I've never met an unkind soul and my neighboring vendors have been insanely generous and helpful. Don't knock it unless you've tried it.
There's also a ton of singing. I like singing.
(Also there are far better cosplayers than the above posted images).
Hey, don't make fun of Bronies. If you don't like it, then....
Hahaha. Cute. I love hearing this about Bronies and Furries and anything else. Because, sorry- you don't get a free pass. Trekkies, Star Wars Geeks, comic nerds, fantasy nerds, and for a long time- even gamer nerds all took our licks. Take yours, wear the scars with pride, and in a few years you'll be as normal as grown men in Superhero tights.
I'd argue that, Cyber. I'd hope we're getting to a point, with geekdom being mainstream, that people don't have to be bullied for having harmless interests that aren't considered mainstream. Ain't nothing wrong with enjoying a cartoon, "for girls" or not. Isn't that why we took those licks in the first place? Sure, dressing up like a giant dog is a bit abnormal. One of the upcoming mainstream movies started out as someone writing their own fiction about the main characters of Twilight having freaky bondage sex, so I guess it's all relative.

As long as people who consider themselves part of the fandom don't impose their interests upon others outside of that fandom, then I don't see an issue with being a Brony, Anime fan, Trekkie, etc. Godspeed and enjoy what you do.
I'm not into the Brony culture (though I wouldn't mind visiting a BronyCon at least once in my lifetime) but MLP is still a quality show.

I think you misunderstand. The replies in this thread were focusing on the negative aspects of the fandom, and I simply pointed out some of the positives. You're talking to the wrong person about taking licks as 'nerd' culture has been my entire life. Started playing console games at the age of four, played the Pokemon TCG competitively throughout my teenage years, then I moved onto attending Gencon/Origins as a fantasy artist vendor, and now I've moved onto being a Brony vendor.
I am unconcerned with what people think of me for my interests, I will however not let people try and only see the negative aspects of it.
Antiquated notions about some franchises being gender-exclusive should finally die in fires.
Though I never understood what is appealing in small, squishy, equine organics.
And if some toxic part of the MLP fandom are a problem, well... You'd be surprised what kind of creepyness both GIJoe and TF fandoms can spawn. And let's not get started about the general comic book fandom not being that innocent either.

im lucky, as a star wars/anime/gaming/d&d nerd, never took any licks, nobody really cared, maybe its regional but i tend to hear more about it than ever actually see it.

In a safer world, where things could be 'un-seen' and eye bleach would be a real thing, I could show you things.
Mind you, Dragon-Con might lack some of the artwork and such- but you've never stayed in the hotels nearby and... well, this site's PG-13 but I can legitimately say it was FAR from innocent and I wouldn't trade it for the world.
Every fandom has its perverts. But my personal theory is that a couple of said fandoms have tried to paint themselves as 'immune' to any sort of criticism, comparing it to persecution of an ethnic group or sexual orientation. By virtue of this, certain elements of the fandom were more 'open', but maybe not more prominent- and this led to the 'negative' perceptions. Plus, all it takes is an episode of CSI and a few documentaries, and there you have it.

I feel sorry for Lauren Faust... This is not what she wanted...
I watched one episode of de ponies! It was "Party of one", which was actually enjoyable, but then again it was kinda typical kid show with a typical message, and I heard this episode was one of the best so I dunno, never got into the show.

Bronies aren't all that bad, unless you get those creepy ones that -Redacted-. Older brother's a brony, so are a couple of my co-workers and friends.
Anyway, they're got their own MMO in the works, and it is making some headway considering the difference between the few Open Beta Weekends I've played. It's developing faster than CO is anyway. Did you check out the Legends of Equestria group while you were at the convention?

I'd post more stuff but I'm at work and I don't want some person to suddenly show up behind me and see a wall of Mojave Mares Meandering the Mutilated Mesas. There exists fanart of MLP crossed over with: Legend of Zelda, The Elder Scrolls, Warhammer 40k, Binding of Isaac, Silent Hill, Avatar/Korra, Super Smash Bros, Fist of the North Star, Bioshock, Devil May Cry, Deadly Premonition, Sonic the Hedgehog, The Iron Giant, Back to the Future, Ghostbusters, Half Life, Lord of the Rings, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Auschwitz, The Beatles, Peewee's Playhouse, Robocop, Terminator, Captain Kirk, Darth Vader, Lopan, Superman, Every single power ranger, Bill S. Preston and Theodore Logan, Spock, The Rock, Doc Ock, and Hulk Hogan.
For all I know, I'm hyperbolizing, but I bet you could google any of those names, combine it with 'pony', 'mlp' or 'my little pony' and get a relevant image or result. I'm going to google "Ghostbusters MLP" right now and see what it results in:
well there you go.
Having once lived it myself, it's done sort of as a coping mechanism for being interested in ponies.
Make no mistake. Bronies will try to find a way to shoe-horn their show and interest into every other possible existing franchise or subject.

Yes. It's called "Ponification" and it is awesome o3o (and possibly a secret plot by the Ponilluminati to turn Earth into Equestria via the concept of "life imitates art")

Or that Hasbro made no crossover toys (considering they did strange things like Capt America transforming into Humvee...).

For everything I would approves with, but the ponies and bronies... Ugh. I have none against them.
I work on that game as a 2D artist.
The fact that you would take a Furry before a Brony forces me to look upon you with disgust.
