I am getting a chuckle. I am sure most programmers would love to wave a magic wand and all bugs would instantly disappear. Also bug reports are never going to stop going down numerically because they are bug reports. Just because a bug is resolved doesn't mean it's file number goes away, not how the system works.

Some of these issues have been known and present for a very long time. Meanwhile, we've received several new lockboxes and cash shop items. The number of bug fixes we get is very low in comparison.

Yes, because game development runs on love and wishes not to mention trying to fix bugs in the current build when we know a much bigger build is on the way that may result in all those fixes getting broken again instead of just fixing them for that build. It sucks waiting but things like power balance and such are not bugs, they are personal concerns. I doubt power balancing is going to be a major theme for this year, in fact, since new content has been demanded, and whether you like it or not, those new costumes and lockboxes are what is making Champions and income for them to at least work on a new update for this game.

Do you know that for certain? Are we really going to receive a massive update of bug fixes? Because I doubt it.
What about all the people paying for a subscription like I am? I'm not buying cash shop items, and the current game content that I am paying for is buggy and neglected.
Having a very buggy game turns away many new and potential paying customers. For example, I've heard of several accounts of people wishing to try out a pet or minion build, with fond memories of Mastermind from City of Heroes, only to find out how bugged the minions are in Champions Online and drop the game out of disappointment after a few weeks.

First off you are putting words in my mouth since I never said the update would be all bug fixes (I never said I even knew what the update would entail just that we've been told there is one coming), second off, CoH was far from bug free. I know rose tinted glasses and all, because mastermind bugs were prevalent until the game closed down, because I had several that were still not fixed about MMs that annoyed me, and many other bugs in the game that were outstanding.
What I was trying tell you is that since they are working on an update that putting out fixes that changes to the engine the new update might require would probably break said fixes and instead they would probably save any fixes they have for that update so that it's not wasted time and effort. Even paragon did this and only emergency fixes go out for critical game breaking bugs.
Things like pets not responding properly aren't critical or game breaking, unfortunately, and probably also related to the fact that even though you can't see them, there are many objects layered in that circle in the Ren Center so the pets are probably identifying said invisible objects as collision and thus consider targets invisible. I doubt that would be a simple fix on its own, and things like the queue system probably require a lot of core changes that they may already be working on. I can't say I don't know. The fix just isn't going to magically appear because you throw a temper tantrum.

I actually laughed when you accused me of putting words in your mouth, then put words in my mouth immediately after.
I never said or implied that CoX was bug free. Masterminds did have their own bugs, but none as significant as minions ignoring enemies on world maps. A bug such as that is inexcusable. No one would have played masterminds in CoX if that were the case, and it's why you see so few pet builds in CO. In fact, this is the only MMO I've played with minions bugged to the point of near uselessness.
I have 2 pet heroes, and the only reliable way to level them up is by grinding alerts, which can get very boring very fast.
I also don't recall ANY finished mmos that come close to CO's levels of bugs, memory leaks, and pvp imbalance. This game still plays like a beta test.

I never actually put words in your mouth, but you implied, quite well in fact, that CoX was perfectly bug free. And if you don't see many pet builds it's because people go for what's strongest, which isn't really the pet builds. There are still quite a few people who use pets but it's not efficient or useful to use pets in encounters, especially the end game encounters. Pet's aren't designed to be a dominating force here like they were in CoX, it's about the character.

You're doing it again. And please don't try to convince me that the pets and minions are this buggy by intentional design.
Masterminds weren't a dominating force in CoX either, but they were still useful and beneficial, especially for drawing aggro in pve. Most importantly, they were fun and worked to an acceptable degree.

Wow, seriously. It's evident you aren't bothering to read at this point, since at no point did I even say pets and minions being buggy is intentional design.
And just wow, you really think Masterminds weren't a dominating force in CoX? Maybe not in PvP, but PvE oh yea. They stopped being dominating when the incarnate stuff came out and were made worthless thanks to overwhelming AEs. And Masterminds didn't start getting fixes until they were finally made hero classes. And even then the major outstanding bugs were still present with them such as the pet AI breaking. Oh yea, the AI in CoX broke to at times.
Pet's aren't designed to be a dominating force here like they were in CoX, it's about the character.
So you aren't supposed to be able to attack enemies on world maps with pets?
I'm sure that design choice was made for the benefit of the players, especially towards those who want to make a necromancer or demon controlling character. /sarcasm

 Wow I've seen reaching in my time, but that certainly take the taco. I told you a plausible reason since you mentioned one place, the ren center, why pets could possibly not be attacking. I never, even in your wildest stretch right there, implied that it was by design. I am stating they weren't designed to be the dominating force (aka high damage), unlike as they were in City of Heroes and saying a mastermind's pets weren't dominating through a map is silly.
Again, you're just reaching because seriously you don't want to read.

I assure you that I'm reading your posts quite thoroughly.
By the way, have you tried a pet build in CO before? They can do very very good damage in instances such as alerts, but on the world maps they refuse to attack most of the time. This is what draws many away from pets builds in CO and why they are so rare.
And yet, despite all the problems with Masterminds that you listed, people still frequently played the Mastermind class. Why is that?

If you are asking that again then you aren't reading my posts. Masterminds were quite powerful. Pets in CO are ok, like pets in any other game damage wise. But mastermind pets were more powerful than that. People played a mastermind because it was like having a team without needing a team, with lots of med to high damage without relying on players, or even having to take powers as a mastermind to aid offensively. Hell no other game have I played where the pet master can afk while the pets do all the work other than UO unlike the mastermind in CoX, even on the toughest difficulty settings. Pets in Champions is low to medium damage, and with people wanting things dead yesterday that just isn't as appealing when other attacks obliterate things faster, and more maintenance is required with CO pets like healing or just resummoning.
It's the nature of players. Players, no matter their intentions, always look for the best routes for a solution to whatever problem they have. It's why people picked the ranged Mastermind pets (like bots, mercs and thugs) well over the melee pets (ninjas and zombies) because they were just better, both because of the range and because well melee MM pets tended to break a lot. Ranged did to, but not even as frequently as melee. Hell, I could not rely on my bruiser as a thug mastermind because a lot of the time he would just stare at dust particles while the rest of my thugs would go off, and let's not even get into how crazy the AI with the arsonist was. heaven forbid if your pets were melee AND knocked like ninjas did. That really tended to break their AI.

Now imagine if every pet acted like this, 95% of the time for melee and 75% of the time for ranged, on world maps. Do you think that is acceptable?

Except they don't. I use dinos regularly, sometimes even use my summon devices, I've only had one instance of them just standing around doing nothing. I mean seriously, you are still latching onto a point I already told you, and you are not listening to, is not an intended thing. I am just offering up a solution and so far you are saying it happens in the ren center over world... ok I stated a while ago it's probably due to the invisible objects and probably doesn't have a quick easy solution to fix. But you can duel other places in that case if that is the problem and find out for sure like near the fountain in the park west of the Ren Center.

Not pet devices. For some reason they have better AI than the rest. Have you tried an actual pet summoning ability? Like Ty Familiar or March of the Dead?

Those are strictly melee and rely on waypoint guidance like ninjas and the bruiser did. And since the only way for pets to even be fighting in the ren center is through dueling and since most duels are a mobile affair, I can already guess what's going on. Same thing that happened to ninjas and bruisers the AI got confused by the way point targeting. And yes, I actually used wolves for a while to until I dropped them because there were better things to use and I got tired of resummoning them.

Not just Ren Center, but City Center, Westside, any world map. Melee pets are unusable in these areas.

I've never had that problem honestly. As I said I used wolves for quite a while but just wasn't worth the time to resummon them. Also have my mentalist who summons the mele psi pets frequently to.

I'm playing a pet build right now. The only time I've died is during alerts. That's usually from someone aggroing more than one group and/or because the party variation was bad (ie no tanks and/or healers). None of the single player content has given me problems.I'm not saying the pets don't have bugs because they do but saying the only reliable way to level a pet build up is by doing alerts is ridiculous. As for the update I'd rather them put out new costumes than vehicles or lockboxes. If you don't like the game and think its the buggiest thing you have ever played then stop playing.
1. those bug reports are from all 3 games, they jumped dramatically when NW started.Something to do with "I've put in 11 reports on this , this week"(quote from zone chat)
2. I've levelled several pet masters to 40, using missions. No problems with them not attacking people.
Captain chat ban, Leafchaser, Scruffy all are pet masters, plus I have gadgeteer builds focused on the pets.
I've taken down Mega terak with Pets, as in, I shoot once, they mob him. If you don't attack it, they won't if on Assist.
Only problem I know of is,Some require you to use your energy builder.(I have no idea why)
If they are on Offensive, they will attack anything hostile nearby.I've ended up in a lot of extra fights with that .
Thats;
shadows, zombies, wolves, primal, arctic, void horror, toys, drones, other gadgeteer one(braindead). angel, demon,
Uncontrollable pets like the shadows and scimitars attack your target only when you start attacking it. Controlled pets like Void Horror don't seem to do so unless you click "Attack" on the pet hotbar. That's not exactly my idea of an effective pet, which is why I gave up on controlled pets for the longest time.
Can you name a broken pet specifically? I would like to test it, but need to know a specific pet that doesn't work...
I've seen this issue consistently with Tyrannon's Familiar, Command Animals, Void Horror, and March of the Dead. It seems to be every melee minion summoned through abilities. It happens to ranged pets too like Munitions Bots, but much less frequently. Actually, the only pets that work fine for me on world maps are healing pets such as Support Drones.

I haven't used firesnake or scimitars.
I did not know that the bug report numbers are shared between games. I was merely pointing out that the total bug reports is well over 2 million.
Missions work fine for pets, so long as they require you to travel to a small instance such as the inside of the building. Outside on the world map, melee pets just give up and stop attacking after 2 seconds and require a resummon, only to attack for 2 more seconds. I'd rather not bother with that and just do the alerts.
I've been doing missions all day, with arctic beast(melee) no problems with attacks.
attack toys- melee - no problems.
This is Monster island, where everything is outdoors.
are you trying to get them to attack something at max range?
they attack things aggroed, If nothign near them is aggroing the mob, they may not attack it
I did not know that the bug report numbers are shared between games. I was merely pointing out that the total bug reports is well over 2 million.
Max(BugID) means nothing, because not every record in a bug database represents an actual code or design defect that requires a fix.
I once worked with a QA analyst who loved to restart arguments he lost during design spec reviews by filing bugs against the delivered code. "The app does this. I think it should do that." is almost never a bug, but there's a record in the bug database all the same. It quickly gets tagged "WONTFIX: You signed off on this in the spec review", though.
That's a 20-year-old project with bug IDs in the high 40K range, but it's an internal database. Now open that database up to the public, and multiply that times umpteen thousand kiddies (actual or mental age) filing "RAID BOSS ONE-SHOT ME NO FAIR!" bugs, and it's easy to see how the IDs stack up, even though the actual defect count is nowhere near that high.
Choose your enemies carefully, because they will define you / Make them interesting, because in some ways they will mind you
They're not there in the beginning, but when your story ends / Gonna last with you longer than your friends
@dbrii,
don't try and argue with she, no matter what you say she will always say you are wrong when it comes to this game. The reason is she thinks she is always right and people who have a compliant is alyas wrong.

Try Ren Center/City Center/Westside. That's were I see it most often.
And no, it's not at max range or anything. I can be in the enemy's face using energy builder and melee minions will just stare.
Funny story... A few days ago, another hero with a pet build challenged one of my pet builds to a duel in Ren Center. It was hilarious to watch because we couldn't kill each other. Both of our pets refused to attack. His wolves and arctic beast would just stare at me. Then my dinos (command animals), ty familiar, and munition bots would just stare at him. The only times our pets made attacks were when my ty familiar threw the occasional rock and my munition bots changed into their turret forms.
I finally won after 9 minutes when one of my Support Drones accidentally bumped him out of bounds.

and that's where you fail, I have read every remark in this thread, you mean yours?
Since you as usual think I do not read, let me guess the op is complaining about another cash shop option being put in this game, while listing the bugs in this game that needs to fix. where you come in and tell the op his is crazy and has no right to complain about a issue that he thinks is ruining this game. Do I have this right? I bet I do and this is from being on a "vendetta" against this game.

Actually, it's obvious you didn't read the thread then if you think I told the OP he was crazy. Never even made such a claim, so yes, you didn't read the thread at all. And you've made it more than clear in the past you have a vendetta, since you've even admitted to actively telling people to stay away from the game.

actually, you are wrong, I know it is a new concept for you as being always right in everything. So let me guess you think I am still on my "vendetta". Do not jump to conclusions, because you do not know what the other person is doing on their computer.

If I am wrong then let's see the first thing you say I did was jump in ant old people they were crazy. Nope didn't do that. Next thing you say is that I said you had a vendetta. Nope never said that either, but the only thing I have to go on anyways is because you've already openly admitted to actively telling people to stay away from the game to begin with. Try again. Maybe I will respond back later tonight when I get back from the lake.

and you do not see a correlation with telling me am on a vendetta? I am sure if you said that to others they would think the same. How does it affect you in anyway if I tell someone you do not even know to not to play this game? It does nothing, now that you brought up an old argument what have you done to bringin new players?
I don't want more cyber armor, I want some of these ancient issues addressed.
for one what did you expect? this game has not had a MAJOR update for 2 years, it is in maintenance mode, and has been since it went free to play.
there are COUNTLESS things that this games needs horribly that it will never see. (foundry, nem system overhaul, bug fixes, etc etc etc) there are still bugs from beta FROM BETA over 5 years ago, that are STILL in the game!!
this is what we get for going free to play and letting the leechs take over, so they have no money incoming so they have no reason to update it. = dead game left in the sun to die.
theres nothing you can do other then just abandon the sinking ship
for one what did you expect? this game has not had a MAJOR update for 2 years, it is in maintenance mode, and has been since it went free to play.
People throw maintenance mode around, but in this case;
Maintenance mode means they wouldn't even bother adding the costumes and such. IE they just go from one maintenance to the next without any updates. Maybe a bug fix, maybe. All things considered there is more going on behind the scenes.
The game isnt in maintenance mode as they are still making things for said game. The game is still getting costumes, bikes and *cough* lock boxes.
It doesnt get as much new stuff as it two sister games as it doesnt make as much. CO is up against two games that play almost the same as CO but have bigger IP's.
That being said I would bet CO will out live both STO and NW because PWE owns the Champions IP . They only rent the Star Trek and D&D from CBS and WB . The owners of the other games IPs could pull the plug on either that cant happen with CO.
Nepht and Dr Deflecto on primus
They all thought I was out of the game....But I'm holding all the lockboxes now..
I'll......FOAM FINGER YOUR BACK!
Indeed. Nothing is free, including my subscription payment. I expect more than a neglected buggy game for $15 a month.
Currently, I see no reason to renew my gold status and have cancelled my subscription for this month.
I can get the same buggy pve and imbalanced pvp experience with silver.
I call it cruise control.
And you can do that. No one will stop you.
Now, is it affirmation from us you seek? maybe you'd like to strike a little fear in their hearts?
Both are futile.
We will not affirm, and Cryptic will not bend to inferior organic emotions, such as fear. They glare upon you with their large, bright eye, red like an aging star in the cold, unforgiving reaches of space.
If they had a mouth, Cryptic would bend it into a vicious, lunatic grin, and laugh at you for for generations of your pulsating kind.
Now, is it affirmation from us you seek? maybe you'd like to strike a little fear in their hearts?
No. All I ask for is bug fixes and fun pvp.
Clearly PWE is not appealing to me with CO because they only seek quick bucks from cash shop sales instead of creating a solid game that people want to subscribe to.
I didn't cancel my sub to strike fear into anyone, but instead to prove a point that ignoring gameplay issues in a video game can have an impact on sales.

At worst it might be concluded that new costume sets are in the way of fixing glitches in old costume sets.

My super cool CC build and how to use it.

It's not bug number 2,500,000, it's bug report number 2,500,000. Just saying.
Can you name a broken pet specifically? I would like to test it, but need to know a specific pet that doesn't work...

Thats;
shadows, zombies, wolves, primal, arctic, void horror, toys, drones, other gadgeteer one(braindead). angel, demon,
I haven't used firesnake or scimitars.

I'd rather not bother with that and just do the alerts.
attack toys- melee - no problems.
This is Monster island, where everything is outdoors.
are you trying to get them to attack something at max range?
they attack things aggroed, If nothign near them is aggroing the mob, they may not attack it

My super cool CC build and how to use it.

It does nothing, now that you brought up an old argument what have you done to bringin new players?
for one what did you expect? this game has not had a MAJOR update for 2 years, it is in maintenance mode, and has been since it went free to play.
there are COUNTLESS things that this games needs horribly that it will never see.
The Nemesis system needs fixing and here's ideas:
A business that makes nothing but money is a poor business. Henry Ford
People throw maintenance mode around, but in this case;

My super cool CC build and how to use it.
