Juggling? Seriously?

crosschancrosschan Posts: 920 Arc User
Ever since the introduction of Vibora Bay to PTS there have been multiple threads and requests for, among other things, the Juggling Emote. Lo and Behold...someone is getting it.

Spoiler: It's not CO

If things are going to be taken from CO and given to STO/NW as rewards could we maybe possibly pretty please have them in CO too?

While all this would be nice, sadly Neverwinter actually gets money, has a player base and has resources to spend. While I am hopeful that this sale of LTS and such will buck up CO's actual resources, I don't know if we will see it pay off for a while.

Who knows, maybe they might surprise us with this years anniversary for Champions and something new and different like they did with the April Fool's event for Foxbat (which was completely different from the last time).

One can hope that with the increased efforts towards actually gaining funds with things to sell to the player base, that Champions will soon begin to get out of its rut. But, that's the catch-22.

I don't. I don't want Dr. Destroyer made into a one note fight like Takofanes was. He deserves more respect than that.

Well it wouldn't have to be the real Dr. Destroyer, just like how he wasn't the real deal in Destroid Factory.

Maybe. He would probably send one of his robot duplicates in his stead. It was one thing that irked me in CoH (one of many)... when safeguards came out seeing the top enchelon like Lord Recluse, Ghost Widow, Black Scorpion, Scirroco and Captain Mako.... robbing a bank, like they would even bother to stoop to that level.

yeah ikr, but why would the fight have to be about robbing banks?

it could be a battle on a falling asteroid in space like a rampage which someone (I think bluhman) suggested.

Because this is Dr. Destroyer. He is the master of the Xanatos Gambit. Hell you are talking about a man who "killed" himself just so he could give himself time to think up new ways to kill heroes more efficiently.

seriously you don't even need to be able to defeat him. just a fight to force him into a tactical retreat would be nice.

No, he wouldn't rob a bank. He owns his own country. He's the Dr. Doom of Champions, pretty much. Xanatos Gambit means even if the bad guy loses, he wins. The Battle of Detroit was the ultimate example of this, he lost that fight, he intended to, but he won with the death of his biggest rival as well as the death of many other heroes in the process, and gained what he wanted; his fake death so he could mastermind new plans with no one knowing the wiser. Fighting Dr. Destroyer should be costly, an event even if we we stop him, he still wins, practically. And it's something that will never happen thus I really never want Dr. Destroyer as a fight, but always in the shadows moving his pawns around.

Meh NW will struggle over this next year. Wildstar is currently the game pulling people away to it. ArcheAge will be released in a few months and that is going to be free to play. Everquest Next is apparently supposed to be released this year. New WoW expansion. Not to mention an entire host of other games that will pull players away from NW which is "a very similar game" in setting and also gameplay.

I just wish they could see this and put money into something like CO which has only one bit of competition from DCUO currently.

Problem with your assessment; Superhero games are very niche. The market loves their fantasy, which is why I suspect when people are done with the shiney coat of paint that is WoWStar, they will go back to what they are familiar with.

I'm sorry but, no. David Xanatos is the master of the Xanatos gambit. That's why it's called the Xanatos gambit instead of the Dr. Destroyer gambit.

Well yea, it is an attempt to make people play. Regardless of what people believe, games like MMOs require that "repetitive" grind in order to keep people interested. Players burn through the content created too fast, so the end result is artificially lengthening it through methods.

It requires about 10-15 runs through the NW anniversary event-related skirmish to earn enough event currency to get the emote on one character. Its basically a three wave street sweeping battle set in a copy of the normal main city, and feels like it runs about 10-15 minutes with most teams. So basically 2 hours or so of grinding per character, the points spent can't be put towards buying anything else cool, and characters created outside this time (the event lasts under a week though it of course may be repeated next year) don't get juggling. Close to more hassle then its worth... though of course that doesn't decrease the desire to have a way to get it on CO as well.

When we first heard about the new emote, i instantaneously had to think of you guys... Since you love to rp with emotes... much more than our average COD kiddie playing NW does...

I hope you will get the emote over here, too. You guys and girls deserve it more than us. (in my opinion)

With seemingly more income now that things are being bought, enough that lifetimes actually went on sale, I think there is a good chance we could see stuff like this. They've been developing new stuff at a decent rate, and well I have some hopes we might see something this Fall.

Obviously, Dr. Destroyer kind of sucks at it in comparison considering he had a decade head start and it was still named after David Xanatos.

I wouldn't say he wasn't good at it since many of his plans actually succeeded. Just he wasn't in a popular kids cartoon at the time in the 90s when the sass era began.

Pitting Xanatos vs Dr. Destroyer has all the hallmarks of a Nemesis plot.
Choose your enemies carefully, because they will define you / Make them interesting, because in some ways they will mind you
They're not there in the beginning, but when your story ends / Gonna last with you longer than your friends
