I don't make a habit of posting on the forums, but I figured I'd make an exception for this. It's a really nice gesture, Cryptic, and I think a lot of people here on the boards will appreciate it.
It has a little plaque talking about all the players that have passed in RL. Over the years in CO and even CoH we have seen a lot of players pass on to that Superhero base in the sky, kudos to the devs for putting this up for them.

They all thought I was out of the game....But I'm holding all the lockboxes now..
I'll......FOAM FINGER YOUR BACK!
Thanks devs, this is awesome. I hope that every single person that was against the idea of a memorial gets an uncontrollable case of hiccups for an hour.
Though I would've laughed guiltily if it were like the Angel statue in Vibora; the statue there is actually just a frozen untargetable NPC. The small flaw with that, the statue in Vibora still has blinking animation.
So! Very glad to see proper attention was taken care with this.
While I haven't been able to get onto CO recently because I got hit by the WoW bug again, I made sure after reading about this to log in, find it and salute in front of it.
There actually are some memorials scattered throughout the game in WoW.
Yes, but those are all individual things for specific people the developers knew, like friends and family, not a general "to remember our fallen" memorial for the passed-away members of playerbase as a whole the way this one is.
Nice. There are some nice people in this world. Imagine that.
Very cool indeed.
The nice ones outnumber the bad ones. The bad ones are just louder.
"Science teaches us to expect -- demand -- more than just eerie mysteries. What use is a puzzle that can't be solved? Patience is fine, but I'm not going to stop asking the universe to make sense!"

Funny you should say that.
I was just singled out for wishing devices were no more in pvp. (Not nerfed)By a bad self righteous individual. But after coming here, and seeing this gesture by the CO staff/devs...
It doesn't matter.
This was truly a good deed, that they didn't have to do. And they didn't ask for any recognition either. The nice ones, do truly outnumber the bad.
Thanks for the reminder about what really matters.
Not only players but in the last year Cryptic have lost one of their own as well.
Yeah, I was thinking about demo_record earlier today and moaning that H20Rat isn't with us to work on it. And that got me thinking about his NWO Foundry scenarios, and his CO cutscene work.... He is much missed.
It's a very cleverly dedicated monument. The use of this costume, however, is even smarter move. This way the monument may be taken as being adresses at every lost player or developer, but people who were closer with AoC will recognise the costume.

A really clever and tasteful idea.
This. I recognized it immediately but because it is unnamed, it is suitable to all the people we have lost. A simple and elegant tribute.
Has anyone sent a nice lcear pictu7re of the monument to angelofcaines wife?
Maybe with your character next to it
Well, I did try to prod earlier in the hopes that a group of AoCs friends would organized to gathered in front of it for a cap to post here, but that's an even better idea.
I gotta say, I saw the memorial and I misted up. I had to spend about an hour in front of it today.
Turtle? Whoever is responsible for that needs a raise. This is how you deal with a gaming community. I brought a few of his friends that didn't know it was put in, and we all got teary when we saw it. This is MMO gaming done right.
In game, I am @EvilTaco. Happily killing purple gang members since May 2008.

This was needed. Well done, cryptic.
