Over a year and at least 10 updates adding a "new" lockbox, but they still can't be bothered to fix their damn game.
Why are people still bothering to play this game? Even worse, why are people still dumping their MONEY into this game?

And if you dislike this game so very, very much - why are you here? There are plenty of other online games to play, and many of them are F2P. Why sit in a game you hate?

because unfortunately I made the mistake of paying 300$ for lifetime just before all this crap happened, and they won't refund my money. If you want to give me back my 300$ I'll gladly leave you to your broken crappy game.
Since I paid for lifetime I come back every once in a while too see what's changed, and some how I'm never surprised that absolutely nothing at all has changed except the addition of yet another lockbox or three.
Bug fixes underway? Are you crazy? I've put in bug reports for this very issue and others months ago! Yet they ALL still very much exist. I work in the video game testing industry. There's absolutely no excuse why this bug should still exist.
And I wasn't "defending" the game - it stands, defense unnecessary, as other games have fallen - I was simply asking why someone chooses to play a game they no longer care for. I think it's quite reasonable, when you're tired of something, to move along. Yet there seems to be this - culture is the only word that comes to mind - this culture of people who hate CO, loathe its very existence, find its play mindless and us mindless for enjoying it, but who seem somehow compelled to stay, even to log into the game, apparently in the (vain) hope that they will one day convince us of the rightness of their cause. I find this mindset incomprehensible, although I keep hoping that one day someone can explain it to me...

Fixed that for you. If you want to refund my lifetime membership, I'll gladly uninstall the game and never look back. Until then I'll continue to push that Cryptic actually FIX the many many many existing issues found in the game before adding yet another lockbox to scam even more money from fools who continue paying for those stupid keys.
You're the equivalent of one of those Justin Bieber fans. No matter how many janitor's buckets Cryptic pees in, grandma's they assault with their naked body or fans they spit on, they can do no wrong. You'll stand there screaming your undying love, wishing they'd spit on you too, and THAT is what's truly sad and incomprehensible.
I play because I quite frankly, can't stand the fantasy MMO's. It's a nice chnage not to be surrounded by identical elves, dwarves, trolls(visual variety)etc(and some of the races certainly come under etc.)
They all appear the same to me.
I don't like end game gear grind, none here.
I like all the costumes and mix and match powers. Lots here.
I like being able to have pikles of alts to try things on. Got that here
Bugs, lets see ;thats repeating Bunker Buster 6 times in a row to get it to complete. Done that. been hit with the PM bug on one. Team ID, yep had that one, repeatedly. My favourite has got to be, going into an alert and finding that you are a team of 1 despite 4 other people being there.
It's all a matter of tolerance. And in that regard, I have a LTS and a gold acct, just add me to your idiots list.

Team ID issue? No problem. Switch to local chat, then start the next message with /team.

That bug has been there for three years, that's longer than the developers currently working on the game.
You know its caused by chatting to team, in tab that you didnt' actually select the team channel from the list.
It holds the last team ID you used in that tab.
Triggers an error message when logging in "Not in team, something something"
That doesn't mean you have to keep playing it. Lord knows, I probably spent more than that on the monthly fees in That Other Game before I realized I was thoroughly sick of it. So I chalked it up to a learning experience, uninstalled the game, and left it. I certainly don't spend all my time hanging around their forums, telling them they're all stupid for enjoying something I found boring.
It's part of becoming an adult, you know - accepting your mistakes, learning from them, and moving on. Oh, and understanding the truth behind "de gustibus non disputatem est."

I've found that ever since i started using /p by default, as it then also automatically sets your team chat to the default 'enter' chat, that i never get this issue...
just another example of players finding work arounds for a game without getting paid for doing something that the devs never seem to.

I'm fairly certain that there haven't been 10+ lockboxes/grab bags in the time the OP has been around, which is their claim.

Yeah it's been around for three years, and what causes is is known. Even more reason why it should have been fixed 3 years ago.
three years ago people were still paying 15 bucks a month to play (if they hadn't bought lifetime). There are a ton of other issues that were introduced with the alerts system, but they haven't even attempted to fix those either.
Creating new lockboxes is much more important than fixing issues.
My claim is there are way too many grabbags/lockboxes/RNG crap and absolutely no bug fixes. The number was actually besides the point.
So you WANT to be part of the problem? You WANT to be pissed on and told it's raining?
Essencially, you're one of those "they can do no wrong" fans. You'll let them use and abuse you, and hope that one day maybe they'll love you.

I have not regretted that decision, I also pay monthly, not lifetime, so that when I feel something strongly, I can UN subscribe.
Which if you can see my record: I HAVE, right before On Alert and for several months thereafter.
Point is, I agree with jonsills, Like it? Play it. don't like it? don't play it.

You really don't know me at all, considering that for the past four years I've always criticized Cryptic for their poor management of the game.
But that doesn't mean that I entirely ignore the good things about the game that still give me enjoyment from time to time.
And good grief, people are still using Stockholm's to label us players who continue to play and invest in the game? Equating us to abused wives who continue to remain in an abused relationship sure isn't insulting at all.
I mean, they've gone from a solid F to a D- and ... we're celebrating?
Mind you, I understand some of it comes from trying to tease the shy devs out from the deep hole they've been hibernating in.

Cryptic isn't holding any players hostage nor blackmailing them into staying to play their game.
No player who continues to play the game is being abused physically or psychologically.
For goodness sake, stop using the term so damn irresponsibly.
A child that has been abandoned who has the house to themselves isn't remotely close to stockholm syndrome.

Its still the best MMO out there regardless of what Cryptic itself thinks of it now.
And, again, not trying to score 'points,' but have you played many other mmos? Does it come from 'I am disinterested in scifi and fantasy'?
By way of comparison, it's like someone saying 'McDonald's is the best restaurant out there.' I don't hate McDonald's, but..:

DCUO is subpar compared to CO for obvious reasons.
WoW can't keep me interested and it requires monthly investments along with having to buy every expansion with no way for me to earn them in game. Not to mention its elitism.
Aeon was decent and I would play it some times. Dragon's Nest was a blast. CoH was truly epic but didn't hold a candle to CO gameplay.

But it gives me a ton of fun, allows me to make a variety of unique characters (unlike other MMOs which feature a thousand similar looking elves, dwarves or humans running around with one of three hairstyles) and has a system that I like (and I'm not only talking about power customisation - I also really like the Alerts system).
I wish Cryptic was able to grow this MMO, giving it new zones and what-not, but, for the moment, I'm happy that we still have a dev team, that they're giving us new stuff to do every now and again, and that there's still a ton of powers I've never even touched here.

This game definitely has strengths: character customization, blocking and somewhat dynamic combat (it could be better, but it could also be way worse), freeform powers/emanations/power coloring.
If this game ever got the attention the other two Cryptic games got, I might agree. And if it ever gets Foundry (hopefully without the access flaws the others have), I'd play again and possibly not play any other mmo again...
As it is, though, it's like Disneyland Paris.

There are a lot of people in this community who have worked damned hard to turn this game around, and get it living up to the potential we know it has. If you really want to sabotage that as much as you seem to, you can follow Jaybezz out the door. Whether you walk out or get thrown out is up to you.

As is buying something because you think you will llike it, finding you don't and complaining to as many people as possible about it. Then trying to get them to not like it or get it, to make yourself feel better, by 'saving' them from the horrible thing.
At all times the choice is each persons, do you want to put up with the bugs to play the game, if yes, do so, if no, don't.
There are plenty of other games out there to choose from, there's bound to be one up to your standards that you can enjoy.
The marketing method is;
a person who likes something will tell one person, a person who is unhappy with something will tell 10.
tried playing Tera, bug report- 4 weeks to get an answer, the problem is still there, so I uninstalled. Fixed since it was to do with starting the game.
*********- too much frustration, dropped subs and left.
WOW- couldn't stand the gear grind or elitist jerk population anymore- dropped sub after handing out all my gear and wiping characters. problem solved.
Rift - gear grind dungeons or champions, couldn't afford both.
CO - started on silver, upgraded to gold, changed to LTS. converted spare silver acct to gold.
I know the bugs are there, I know little work has been done on the game. I am willing to put up with it to play the game. I consider it worth playing.
This, however, DOES NOT affect anyone else's veiw, it is up to each person to make up their own mind whether to play or leave.
If you do not like the game as is and/or choose not to play, please have the courtesy to NOT insult other people for their choice. Or try to make them leave just because you are unhappy with the game.
