With the head through the wall. (Chamber of the Queen Beyond the Pale)

Yesterday I tried to play through Demonflame, and I enjoyed it pretty much. Until I came into the Chamber of the Queen Beyond the Pale. At first I didn't even pay attention to what the Demon Key was doing. Compared to the other enemies Jack was a pretty simple opponent, didn't take a lot of arrows. When I turned around I saw that my Demon Key was flying against a corner of the wall continuously. Nothing could make him stop that and free the frakin' avatar.

I filed a request for a GM. Waited half an hour and then I decided to simply redo the tower. When I entered the final room the first thing, after wiping out the group of enemies in the entry area (Explosive Arrow, Gas Arrow, problem solved), that the Demon Key did was running in the exact same location in which it was previously stuck of the wall again. This time I lured Jack closer, and the key stopped running against the wall for a moment to engage Jack. When Jack was dead, the key went back to that location at the wall and ran into it again! In the exact same place and angle!

I am currently a bit frustrated with Demonflame. Is there a way to do this at all? How can it be that no GM comes to help after hours of waiting? I didn't leave right away, I stood around, worked on my character description, tried out emotes, opened a small browser window to surf the Internet while the game client window was visible in background, but no one answered my call.

Sorry to disappoint, but we don't actually have any GM's. Sadly Demonflame has been broken for a while, and only rarely can you complete it normally.

So...Replay and recycle kids. Might work by the thirtieth time.

Last time I ran into this bug (and, yes, it's been around for quite some time), the trick was to get Jack to fight the key and NOT KILL JACK until the Demon Key had died; once the Key dies, it takes a little while, but he will respawn inside the main chamber. Basically, kill off the portal and the imps, then don't attack Jack- he will come out and aggro all over the Demon Key and kill him. Then feel free to murder the sill court jester and everything should be copacetic.

That's pretty much what my guild mate suggested - let Jack kill him. That happens when you don't listen to your more experienced guildies, I suppose. I just thought I had won when the Key left his bloody favourite wall spot. I had no idea that he would go there right away again.

Well, I just prefer to fight against the enemies in the game, rather than the game itself.

I can't blame you. I have a similar feeling. Incidentally, there's another bug with Demonflame which is, potentially, even more crippling than the Demon Key getting jammed in the wall, and it happens at the very end- sometimes, Luther Black goes nuts and just continually summons or enhances his mutilated scythehands, making the last encounter essentially unwinnable. Don't know if that's been addressed yet or not (I have a stealth-based character that I'm going to try that last chapter on pretty soon- probably right after lunch...)

Well, I think that Demon Key had a mental problem! I think I know a good psychologists for NPCs that can handle the situation verry well!

That only happened to me once, but it was so frustrating that I hit respawn and went to get a snack and take a break. When I got back, the room was so full of 80 foot tall seizure-inducinge strobe-scythehands that I was getting about 2 FPS, and lag so bad I couldn't activate any powers before I was murdered. I'm glad it seems to be a pretty rare bug.

Just completed this, I started the adventure over 100 days ago and got as far as the Queen Beyond Pale bug and ducked out. Only just returned to the character/game and carried on where I left off. It worked just fine on the Queen section, cept getting aggro from multiple mobs that couldn't even see me when I did the Manipulator guy in the book corridor. And dying on the Portal too far bit but that's always a bit iffy esp on squishy builds.

I did encounter the gigantic Scythehand bug but after I'd failed once and re did it thnx to Mr Time stop/reset it went OK the second time. This maybe only a feeling but I got the feel that I killed the Scythehands a bit too quick and kept attacking em whilst they were growing. Possibly if I left em alone whilst they were growing it woulda been fine. Like I said maybe just a feeling.

So I saved the world from Luther Black (whaddya mean again it's the first time I've done it on this toon at level 40) and still had 1 and a half stars left when I finished. I like this AP coz it does provide at least a bit of challenge even for an experienced freeformer.

Character was a Dex/Con/Ego Pestilence, Epidemic, Devour Essence, Defile with the usual survival assets bolted on.

Did this again with the latest toon at level 32 ish. Ran into the Queen beyond Pale bug and took a break. Came back and did mish again with no probs. Relatively speaking...
Got soooo murderised on Portal too far, bunch of imps showed up just before the cutscene and spent the cutscene slaughtering the Until troopers. Squishy build vs Nightmare Demolisher, two flocks of imps, Manipulator, Flayer and lots of other things solo... I may have respawned a teensy bit.
Did it tho!!!! Pulled the Nightmare D to the spawn point away from the rest of em and after that it's sort of down hill.
Lovely moment when I'd just finished another manipulator and turned to the Until guys as if to say "We've got em on the run now eh lads......lads?!" Ofc they'd buggered off through the teleport whilst I was otherwise engaged.

So to summarise.. Log out and in may (or may not) solve this one.

    hrmmmm.

If you haven't seen the bug... maybe they fixed it? Did anyone else see it recently?

PS: Ah, forget it. I misread your post, sorry.

Okay, so my Demon got stuck as the rest say.

I read through the posts here and this is how I did it (it can be difficult to time your blocks vs. Jack and I had died once).

I respawned at the bottom of the castle/whatever it is and went back up. The Demon was still stuck in the corner but I stayed near him (I actually purchased a henchman from the C Store to help take aggro.

The Demon DID start to fight Jack when Jack came to us and I drew back and blasted away. Then his doubles appeared (cut scene), but I continued to fight the MAIN Jack and when he came after me (I was still next to the Demon way back near the entrance) I just blocked. I turned my healing drones into fighting drones and he went after them and I blasted away at Jack again and killed him.

I guess you just have to play it by ear. It is very winnable (if I can do it, you can), you just have to block Jack well and don't bother with his doubles. Stay where the Demon is trying to go through the wall and let Jack come to you. Having a henchman helps (but I'm not plugging the C Store here, just saying it helps). My drones helped too since if I recall correctly Jack did go after them (time to blast Jack) and he also went after the Demon (and killed the Demon).

The Demon won't come back until you kill Jack but the Demon is able to free the (whatever it is he frees). Having a teammate helps as while one blocks the other attacks.

Not sure how well melees do here since they have to hit close to Jack and a badly timed block will kill them. But I guess that's doable too.

I necroed the thread because I was stumped, there was help here, and I wanted to share the way I got it to work for me.

Never had the Demon Key get stuck in the wall like people say.

But this, the super-duper-uber-buffed Scythehands of Doom... I get this EVERY TIME I run Demonflame for the past year plus. I have not been able to beat Demonflame because of it. It used to be one of my favorite Adventure Packs...
