-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We've had a pretty wild ride this last week, and before diving into the Ask Cryptic questions, I wanted to give an update on where we are at. Our Network Engineers have been working around the clock to address both the queues and the emergency downtimes. We believe that the long queue times have been addressed with recent changes, and while you still may see queues at times, the wait times have dropped dramatically. We also thank you for your patience during our emergency downtimes and apologize for it being rough. We are addressing a variety of issues (not all of them game related) rapidly and at times this has meant short notice downtimes. We did buy new hardware. We did upgrade the network. We did plan for all the new people, but sometimes bad things just happen for no good reason. We've had to replace some new hardware, rewire some networks, upgrade some firewalls, and pretty much anything else that you could think of from an infrastructure standpoint. We're sorry and we're working around the clock to whack the moles as they pop up. But in general, we've had more people in and playing the game than any previous update in STO. We're seeing record numbers of captains creating new Romulan characters. It's pretty awesome.
STO is also selling +$100 item packs for this new expansion, so at this point there's no reason to compare our level of support to theirs.

You want to know what's sad?
I was just in the STO forums a bit ago, and there's a goodbye rant from someone for whom the final straw was that he couldn't start a fleet with his new Romulan character. He went on and on for paragraphs about how poorly he felt Cryptic had treated him in STO, how disappointed he was in their communication, and how they left bugs in the code for too long.
I would have corrected his misapprehension about who gets neglected, but I thought my language might have caused me to be banned...

too late Jonsills, I posted our ask cryptic questions and answer threads on an NWO thread complaining about lack of communication from Devs.

The only other option is get hired by Cryptic and work on the inside to make the game better.
Perfect World Entertainment Inc. and Cryptic Studios today announced the formation of Cryptic North, a new division of Cryptic Studios
Currently, Williams and the Cryptic North team are working closely with Cryptic Studios on the continuing development of the highly-acclaimed super-hero MMORPG, Champions Online
I've just seen this. Would it be different for Champs in the future ?

Maybe not for Champions only. But from the news,it's their most important work to improve Champions now.

Well, I will say that this gives me reason to look into the programming-language classes at Bates College (at least, I'm pretty sure they won't need somebody who's fluent in COBOL).
Especially if when they say "Seattle", they really mean somewhere more like Federal Way or Tacoma... (Hey, a man can dream, can't he?)
Edit: Oops, just reread, and it says "downtown Seattle", which probably means somewhere in Paul Allen's new Vulcan development on South Lake Union. S'pose I could just take the Sounder up, then ride the S.L.U.T. there. (That's the South Lake Union Trolley. Really.)

Considering that one of those is specifically the community check-in, that's a strong sign to me where he's investing his time and energy.
The team is battle-tested in Champions already and they're gung-ho about the lore, so I'm excited about the story arcs to come. Some of the plans they've got for the upcoming arc have me pretty jazzed up.
Jon: yep, downtown. I spent four months living in Seattle back in the day, and I think I walked past it a couple times.

1. Does this mean we may get something apart from *shudder* lockboxes, vehicles and mini events?
2. Does this mean PWE has realized how much they screwed up NWO by making such a blatant cash grab during beta and are hedging their bets?
3. Does this mean Jack(whatever his name is) is so disgusted with Champions that he has moved it well away from the other two games Devs, who may have worked on it before,so they can't help with it?
for 1 I don't know, I hope not.
2) I think it isn't about now but more of a business move. I think pwe has seen what jack has done with co and decided to make a new office.
3) I don't think that like I said with #2 I think it is because jack dropped the ball with champions online. (I gave jack a 2nd chance despite what he did to city of.) after this game launched he left this game in the back and never looked back.
I hope this new company will give champions what it needs to get to the point I think it should have been. I have always said this game has sooo much more potential then city of ever did.

Hello
It is crucial that, when reporting players for a chat violation, you use the Report This Player feature from within the game. This will capture vital information for my team to investigate the matter.
Our servers are outfitted with a functionality that temporarily suspends chat privileges from players who have been flagged in violation of chat policies or for spamming. After reviewing your account we have gone ahead and reinstated these privileges. Please be aware that this is a one-time good faith gesture and if you receive a silence in the future you will need to wait for it to expire.
That only proves the theory that, if you'd look at the quality of a game based on forum feedback, each game would be horrible.
