The Cosmic Keys Event!

Hi Guys!

The Summerstone Sisterhood invites one and all to join in the Cosmic Keys Event! The contest is a character concept costume contest, winners will be picked based on best representation of given category!

There will also be a chance between categories to win extra Cosmic Keys by finding judges and players in the Open World.

EDIT: Due to the possible mental manipulation by a certain telepath (*cough* Mentella *cough*), PSI have been persuaded to handover an extra 50 of their Cosmic Keys of Power to The Summerstone Sisterhood, increasing the prize number for the Cosmic Keys to 120.

DATE: 22nd of June (Saturday)
TIME: 2PM Server Time (which I believe is 11pm for me)
PLACE: Powerhouse Theatre!

Judges: VitalityPrime, Kemmicals, roughbearmattach, Maleb666 and Mentella (me).

NOTE: for the prizes I wanted the maximum amount of people to gain keys and with the small 120 number I had to apportion them somehow :redface:

For what sounds like a big event, I'd say the more places you advertise for it the better. CO forums, proboards, zone chat, and whatever the latest contest channel is being called these days.

So far, after speaking to some people a few ideas on contests came up:

- Character Concept Costume Contest - An event where you bring/create/design a costume which best represents your characters concept

- PvP Battle Tournament: Team Dueling - Teams of Five go up against each other in a series of Team Duels until the best 14 teams are clear and a key is given to each winner

-Where's Mentella? - Find me in the Zone I am hiding in and I give you one key (I'd like this idea, but I am worried about multiple account people trying it on

)

- A Trivia Night - Answering questions about CO lore. (Mainly in game lore, some outside CO, CO lore too)

Other ideas are welcome. I'd like this to be a fun sort of event for everyone, instead of just a few people.

Ideally I'd like to make sure at least one key = one player, but I'm sure that would be very difficult to orchestrate.

I've decided to go for the Character Concept Costume Contest, its probably the easiest and less limiting (i.e. being a certain level to go to another zone etc) of the ideas. And with PvP being an almost P2W style it would eliminate pretty much non regular PvP builds.

I'll be thinking of categories and I'll need to enlist the help of those who can help

Hosted in PH will be the following Categories:

As for Categories:

- Classic Mage/Sorcerer (Male and Female)

- Classic Hero (Male and Female)

- Classic Anti-Hero (includes Vigilante styles) (Male and Female)

- Classic Mentalist (Best TK, Telepath, Proto-path, Empath will be selected) (Male and Female)

- Classic Elementalist (best Wind, Earth, Fire and Water/Ice will be selected) (Male and Female)

- Best representation of an Element or Nature (Male and Female)

- Magical Creature Concept (also includes "furries". Includes mythological creatures) (Male and Female)

- Homage Category (From CO/DC/Marvel etc) (Male and Female)

- Military/Agent of the Government themed Hero (Male and Female)

- Powered Armor Hero (Male and Female)

- Dark/Hell dimension Themed Look Hero (Male and Female)

- Divine/Light Themed Look (Male and Female)

- Non-Human Themed Hero (includes irradiated heroes, zombies, aliens, hybrids, robots etc) (Male and Female)

- NO CAPES! :biggrin: (this category is Evening Wear Hero / Classic Civilian looks) (Male and Female)

All will have female variations. (i.e. Classic Male Hero will also have Classic Female Hero as well in the same category)

These are now the categories for the Contest!

As for Team Category: <-- for this I am hoping SG's will show up and perhaps parade their SG costumes which unite them.

- Best looking Elite Uniform (So orderly/fits well together with each other.)
- Would entail best use of an Emblem, colour co-ordination and design in relation to concept.

Hmm--I was thinking that a game could happen as a lead-up to the contest proper, like some folks do with trivia and CCs.

A short game could be a break at the halfway point in the CCs, too.

If you do hide and seek, you're gonna want to give clues as to the nature of the person, but not the name. Too easy to keybind a target to em and just run around like an idiot. "find the purple bear dressed in a green tuxedo" however, is pretty straight forward.

I see, well, I might just do that then...would it be suggested that when I find people to help me, they hide around MC? Instead of all of open world cause of level restrictions etc?

Ideally, I'd like to give out The Cosmic Keys during the actual CC, but 10 of them would be devoted to 5 winners for the game part of the CC.

I'm planning on handing out a Legions Agility and Precision as part of the prizes too, since RNG spammed me last night with them.

Hopefully the 110 Keys (remaining after games), Exocet Fighter x2, Grav Bike Widow will be the prizes of the CC winners.

Single Player Categories for Concept Prizes up for grabs:

- 1 Key per winner (so 2 per Category for Best Male and Female)
- 1 Exocet Fighter (one from D-Store)
- Grav Bike Widow (one from D-Store)
- Grav Chariot (one from the boxes)
- 1 Exocet Fighter (one from D-Store)

Two Categories will be chosen from the aforementioned list, the winners of those categories will receive a Key and a Vehicle.

Team/SG Categories Prizes:

- 51 Cosmic Keys (given to the SG/Team, I am trusting the Leader of SG to correctly allot keys to members who attend the event, I apologise in advance if the keys aren't enough in quantity..)
- x100 of a chosen enhancement/armouring mod at rank 5 (such as Endurance Enhancement 5)
- x20 Crafting Skill Up Device thingies...:biggrin:
- x100 Lockboxes of choice (Takofanes, Hoverbike, Grav Bike and Forum Malvanum)

Legions up for grabs are Legions Agility and Legions Precision (dodge and crit strike ones).

Thanks guys, I'm thinking of asking around, but it will likely happen on a weekend. I live in the UK so time zones will be an issue, but that is why we have Caffeine @_@ :biggrin:

If you do it later in the evening UK on a weekend, that may actually be the best chance to get people from all over to participate (even without all that much coffee).

Might I suggest gunning for categories that might encourage lateral thinking in terms of how to interpret them? Like, say, Tin Man. It's really very super heroic if you try to dodge the copyright bullet...

I'm going to need some people to help me with this event, I'll probably need quite a few...

- Organisers...without Telepathy on LIVE, Mentella may have difficulty organising peoples, so helps would be appreciated

I'm hoping to have this event on the 22nd of June, its a Saturday...as for the time...I'm going to have to figure that out, a time to get the most possible people on, so if and when they hear about this they can take part. The more the merrier

I'll be online today, I reckon I wont be doing much apart from hanging around idly around the PSI building, so just PM me if you have any questions!

Late night for you is early evening for me, and afternoon for the Western US and Canada.

I could help with anything, but I am on Live often enough to help organize and publicize. I also would love to help with judging.

Also, I can contribute some prizes, like some R6 or R7 mods, and a Blood Moon item like a Nimbus or Grace. We could create "prize packages" for top winners. It would be like they opened a lockbox and actually got the good stuff inside.

Update: I've had word that there is a possibility a group is planning to mute and grief me for this event. I am not aware of who they are but I have been informed to take some form of action.

Is there a way to avoid this short of not doing this event?

I'd be extremely enraged IF this happens to me.

Damn...that's horrible. I hope everything turns out okay for this event raven.

You could always ask TT if he could spare some time to attend this great community event, perhaps his presence may deter the trolls.....at the very least, even if they do turn up, he could see how the increase in this type of behaviour is ruining our game-playing experience.

I doubt he could be there on a Saturday though.
