    Appears to be Cryptic-wide; Star Trek Online is down, too.

    Thanks everyone for posting about this -- I've verified I can't log in, the NetOps guys are getting the servers back up. Thanks for your patience!

    Hopefully, this is an isolated incident. LONG-time COH/COV player in the middle of building my FIRST Champions toon when the servers crashed.

    Do not worry, this is not common, I DC'ed many time but 1rst time I see server down without warning.

    Welcome! There are options for saving your costume like in CoH if you fear for crashes. The game has been stable enough I haven't bothered to use it lately, so this would have caught me off guard too!

    @Rejolt when you see me in game. Forum member since late 2008, beta tester and LTS.

    Still trying to make a Might/Electric toon that gets something out of Shockwave (darn you Stormbringer for not boosting Sonic damage!).

    Presumably that's linked to the outage -- my guess is the account server is still catching up. :smile:

    About two years ago when I first started playing CO server problems were common place. Frequent disconnects, characters becoming trapped in zones for hours and things like it. Eventually I just gravitated to another game. Well, I finally come back with my girlfriend after two years and....server problems still seem too frequent. "Server not responding", etc. I don't understand how this can be after 24 months.

    Before you comment, know that I have a very solid hi-speed IC and a very solid hi-speed machine. I'm not ripping Cryptic here. I'm merely stating my personal experience with the game. Edited to also mention that aside from the
    flaky servers the game is gorgeous and loads of fun. I just hope they eventually get the server silliness taken care of.

    Betcha some interns though it would be funny to overload the servers with Nyan Cat loops or something. Those darn interns. :rolleyes:

    Simply because you have a (pardon the lewd double entendre) "fat pipe", does not mean the connectivity issues are necessarily on Cryptic's end.

    YES, in THIS particular instance, pretty much ALL of Cryptic's game services crashed.

    But I've tracked numerous craptastic connections in the game back to various nodes on the path back to the server.

    Shouldn't be much longer -- QA is in the servers whitegloving to be sure it all works.

    I've been playing this game for years and this is the first time I've had this happen. Which is a pretty good track record for an MMO. While my cat-like curiosity is dying to know what happened, I'm at least sure it's being worked on and will be fixed ASAP.

    I know this has probably been a majorly stressful day with the servers down, so I'd like to let all hands at Cryptic know their hard work is appreciated.

    Still getting "The server is closed for maintenance at this time" when trying to bring up the character screen.
    This is my Risian Corvette. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

    I'm trying to quit and restart the game to see if that helps-- nope, I'm still seeing the "down for maintenance" message.

    The server-unlocking procedure apparently didn't function correctly. We're re-running that procedure, should be open momentarily.
