Nothing that I know of changed enough to make a difference with this build. You only need enough Recovery for Supernatural Power to sustain Venomous Breath. That's essentially no requirement at all. Venomous Breath always ticked off slowly enough to trigger Supernatural Power. It's supposed to work even better now since the last patch.
The main problem pre-patch was that powers like Massacre would typically not trigger the energy gain from Supernatural Power. That's not a real issue, since you would be trying to stack bleeds with your energy builder anyway. You normally use Venomous Breath on trash mobs up to most Lieutenants, and Pounce>Bestial Fury>Massacre for anything tougher. If your in melee against high health enemies you want the bleed damage from your energy builder any way, so its not worth worrying about Supernatural Power.
Hi Pulsewave, superb guide as usual I have a PVE concept toon I want to adapt. He was my original Beta toon, but he has been neglected since launch and is only LvL 32. The original concept was that he was a New Orleans Private Eye investigating a serial killer who turned out to be a werewolf. He got bitten by the wolf just before he killed it and was cursed himself. Luckily a Hoodoo practioner and an Indian Shaman managed to control his inner beast so that although he remains a werewolf, he is able to suppress the animal lust. Thus he is a pretty orthodox werewolf toon, with the only twist being that he is in touch with his wolf spirit guide, hence the ritual summon and he is equipped with a machine gun, to start bleeds and do ranged damage as I couldn't justify venemous breath for thematic reasons. Since targets will usually be bleeding, will the advantage for massacre not be better than R3?

It's an extra 10% damage on a bleeding target, vs 20% less for targets that arent bleeding. Its worth it if you make sure everything is bleeding all the time.
The biggest thing on your build is that you use both Submachinegun and Frenzy as cone AoE damage. Plus you have the bleed advantages on both Submachinegun and your energy builder. Those things are redundant.
If you ditched the machine gun and concentrated on Frenzy for AoE, you could take that to rank 3. Then you're all melee, so you could swap Enrage for Form of the Master, which works well since you're using STR and DEX. You'll still get a single stack of Rage from Howl. Overall that would be higher damage - Forms have a higher damage boost than Enrage with the right stats.
You could then take Two Gun Mojo for another Rage trigger and a token ranged attack. Or use Holdout Shot, which deals increased critical damage, plus double damage when you're low on energy. Or try out Lead Tempest for PBAoE damage.
Actually you could ditch your energy builder for Steady Shot and take Killer Instinct as your energy unlock too. I don't see you getting a lot of benefit from Supernatural Power. Its great with Venomous Breath, but not so great with the melee attacks. Killer Instinct might be better energy overall. That would work better with Holdout Shot as well, if you like that suggestion. Then you'd ditch bleeds completely and just take rank 3 Massacre.
Just a couple of options for you there. I'd picture a private eye as a pistols user but YMMV.

Some very good points. Ironically, in closed beta and early launch he was mainly munitions, Colt 45s, shotgun and Winchester, with a few token melee attacks and a smattering of arcane buffs. I based him loosely on the main from the film Angel Heart, with a Cajun Native American heritage, but the twist was he was bitten by a werewolf. He wore a trenchcoat over jeans, Native American boots, white shirt and bolo tie. However, once I created Witchfinder, I found I preferred playing him. I took the opportunity of revamping him after the supernatural pass and made him more feral and less detective. Ideally he would have two forms, like the PnP version, one mystic detective and one feral. My original beta version was a hybrid of the two.
I really want to have a less stereotypical werewolf, so pure melee is out. Whilst I agree that pistols would be more apt, the bleed synergy of SMG was too good to ignore. Besides, I want to distance him from Witchfinder, a pistol DEX/INT quarry build. Thus in the build below, 2GM is used solely or the enrage buff and SMG is my main ranged attack. I dropped frenzy and added bite, to avoid redundancy, add a stun and for concept. Thus, he will engage a group at range, with SMG then when they close he will target the boss with bite and kill him with massacre.
How does this build look to you? The energy builder could be switched to steady shot, but I hate it when in melee you have to whip out a pistol to gain energy. It seems counter-intuitive to me. However, it would improve the efficiency of KI. Hopefully energy won't be a problem, but maybe this build is a bit squishy? Was considering taking conviction instead of masterful dodge. Feedback welcome and if you squeeze in any magical powers, all the better.
I like this build but venom breath does not match my character, what would be best to replace it with,he is going to be more of a melee player, and if i dropped venom breath would i need to change any of the other powers that boost venom breath for something more geared to melee.
I hope you get the general idea of what im trying to explain lol.

Its hard to be squishy with Invulnerability. If you're worried about it, you could drop Bite for Conviction or an active defense. You really dont need Bite with Massacre.
Since you're using Form of the Tempest now, how about swapping Submachine gun for Arc of Ruin? That gives you an AoE boosted by your form. You could use the No Quarter advantage as a 10% debuff for all physical damage. That works for all your attacks, plus your pets. That's assuming there's a weapon that fits your concept. I can't believe there's no telephone pole or something that's looks improvised, like an iron girder.
You also mentioned magical powers, so alternatively you could try using Lightning Storm as your AoE. That's nice and easy for clearing mobs. Your real damage is going to come from Massacre anyway. The knockdown advantage is nice on that power with pets.

Thanks for replying If I dropped SMG, wouldn't KI be redundant? Whilst I admit the idea of an AoE KB would be handy, I still think SMGs bleed synergy would be good. However, it got me thinking. Since he is meant to be part Native American in heritage, how about archery? I have kept bite for the enrage and stun, shred for the defense debuff and added ToA with KB advantage and focused shot for a boss opener. How does this look compared to my last build?
Hopefully I will get some feedback this time After realizing how bad Focused shot is, I decided to take gas arrow on the basis it could be explained by the burning of secret herbs wrapped around the head of the arrow. So this build would use archery as an opener and against mobs and then switch to melee to mop up any that get close and use massacre on the tougher bosses. How does this build look, all advice welcome, bearing in mind it is a concept PvE build?
Edit, not sure if CC is worth taking on shred, other than a boss weakener. If I saved the points, where else should I spend them?

I usually put Crippling Challenge on my 'Pounce' attack if I take one. That frees up your damage dealers for more damage. I'd drop Shred completely though. I wouldnt expect you to use it much. You can get bleeds through your energy builder and the damage reduction on Shred isnt worth the power slot. When you are in close combat you will either be using your EB or Massacre.
I'd also drop the Form and just take Enrage. The form increases the energy costs of your archery attacks and only boosts damage to Massacre. While Enrage would boost all damage with no increase to energy costs. Trade Shred for Unbreakable w Better You Than Me for Rage stacks.
If you haven't done a Rage of Majesty build yet, this would actually be a decent candidate. You've got 2 pets that would get the Aura of Majesty bonus. And the stat bonuses would make Enrage better and give better criticals and energy. You'd just have to decide whether you want to be tougher to kill or you want to deal a lot more damage.

Thanks Pulsewave. Originally he was an Enrage toon and your comments make sense. As much as I love the Rage of Majesty build, I have one already, thinking of a second and wanted this toon to be tough as werewolves are meant to be. I dropped Shred and took Frenzy, as a way of building enrage, unless you can suggest another way. Alternatives could be bite or if redundant pounce and take another power in place of pounce. I had to change to regeneration to avoid taking more bestial powers. Took the advantage on Resurgence to get enraged, but with Unbreakable and Regeneration, maybe it is redundant and I should take a block or a buff? Here is the amended build:

Im not sure why you dropped Invulnerability. Regen is fine though. Defiance would work fine too.
Evanescent Resurgence wont build Rage, it will just break holds. You can drop that advantage. And Frenzy wont build Rage either. It just gives you one stack. So you could drop that too. All you need is Enrage, Howl, and Unbreakable with Better You than Me. That's perma-rage and it will build fairly quick. If you switched to Defiance you could drop Unbreakable.
I think that you only need your energy builder with the bleed advantage, and Massacre for melee. The archery attacks will already keep you busy enough. If you really want another melee attack and/or you worry about Enrage stacks, try Roomsweeper. The knockback would set up archery attacks and it would build Rage. You could trade that for Unbreakable since they are both Rage builders.

Thanks again. The reason for switching to regeneration is that otherwise at level 6 there is no other suitable power I could take. For the rest I did as you suggested and took intensity as it boosts his two primary stats. How does this look?
No replies yet, but would the last build benefit more from R3 or bloody mess advantage from massacre? As his only energy unlock is for archery attacks, I assume he will be using his bestial fury energy builder a lot. As this causes bleeds, I suspect bloody mess will be more useful, especially as massacre will be his primary boss attack.

I prefer R3 to Bloody Mess. It's only a 10% bonus when it works, vs a 20% loss when it doesnt.

Thanks once more. As he hasn't got many bleed attacks now he has switched from SMG to archery, it makes sense to drop Bloody Mess. He is level 34 just now and is great fun to play. Unsure about Gas arrow, as it is another archery attack with a cooldown. May experiment with snap shot.
Phew, I've just reviewed the entire thread, I hope. I've two alts based on the OP, one at level 33, the other at lvl 26. Loving it, varied each slightly in line with theme and the slow insight as I learn the game (and read more posts).
In the very first post, we have "Otherwise you keep Rage maxed by cycling Enrage and Howl. Once you have Rank 3 Enrage, you can keep it at 8 stacks most of the time by cycling Enrage and Howl. You just have to click either power every 15-20 seconds."
This confused/confuses me! My 4th month in game, and now things begin to become clearer where I hope I can ask sensible questions.
I'm new enough I have only encountered enrage as a toggle. On my lvl 26, running with Enrage, I can get to 8 stacks and keep them there consistently. Unlike my lvl 33, my 26 took Frenzy in lieu of Venomous Breath.
(And yes, Supernatural Breath on my 33 is awesome, things just... melt. Took Frenzy/Invulnerability for theme on my 26. I've found with Supernatural Power I can cycle Massacre > a very small pause > Massacre reliably enough. My 26 has +7.3% dmg per stack or Enraged)
My questions, this for the 26 Frenzy version:
Drop Aspect of the Bestial, and keep just Enrage as my toggle form?
I never use Aspect Of The Bestial, I could drop it and get Supernatural Breath instead (bonus)
And drop Pestilence at 32, and find something fun to work with the Invul/Enrage/Frenzy/Unreakable-BytMe core
Does the above make sense given the changes to mechanics since the OP?
Unfortunately, this build is woefully out of date as well. Aspect of the Bestial now replaces Enrage for the Bestial set. Enraged is now quite simple to stack and maintain with bleeds.
Here's my take on the Bestial set with some fire thrown in for a fire dragon theme. You could easily swap out Fire Breath and Immolation for Venomous Breath and Shadow Shroud or whichever other active offense you choose. I tried Invulnerability for this build initially, but found that the new Regeneration works better. Pestilence would make you more offense-oriented, but a lot squishier. Gear for additional crit and dodge. Try to get your STR as high as you can for your Enraged buff and melee crit rate (Overpower). Don't neglect your secondary stats too much, though, as they're important for Brutality. With the crit rate diminishing returns of DEX, I value CON>DEX in this instance.
Presently, I can solo Elite lairs with this build. Typical rotation is Shred to apply the debuff and a bleed, then start tapping Massacre until mob is dead or until the bleed drops off. Rinse and repeat. With over a 56% melee crit rate, Massacre (and Shred, too at 62%) crit quite often for really big numbers. Drop an Unleashed Rage bomb on groups if you have 8 Enraged stacks up for mass ridiculousness. Fire Breath works great on Normal groups of mobs but is practically useless on Elite mobs except as a ranged finisher.

Loving the build, some feedback:
1. Regeneration works a treat
2. Durable!
3. Alrighty, found Fire Breath does not trigger Supernatural Power, which Venemous Breath does. Using FireBreath leaves me on empty, using Venemous Breath does not.
4. A retcon build, as Unleashed rage can only be slotted at 26 after reaching level 35.
3. Alrighty, found Fire Breath does not trigger Supernatural Power, which Venemous Breath does. Using FireBreath leaves me on empty, using Venemous Breath does not.
That's right, the fire powers are purely thematic and not efficient at all. In fact, I hardly use Fire Breath playing Elite content. Immolation's energy cost discount is pretty handy when tap-spamming Massacre, however. Venomous Breath will work much better for a Bestial setup, and is more in line with the original Leatherback build, which is why I mentioned it.
Glad you're enjoying the build. I wish Pulse would come back and update more of his builds; I'm certain he could do a better job.

I prefer R3 to Bloody Mess. It's only a 10% bonus when it works, vs a 20% loss when it doesnt.
Thanks once more. As he hasn't got many bleed attacks now he has switched from SMG to archery, it makes sense to drop Bloody Mess. He is level 34 just now and is great fun to play. Unsure about Gas arrow, as it is another archery attack with a cooldown. May experiment with snap shot.
Does the above make sense given the changes to mechanics since the OP?
And as always Cpt, kudos.
