I haven't been around in a while, but after seeing the following I have been re-energized about the future of Cryptic Studios and Champions online:
Amazing new content released by Crytpic!
I have full faith that pretty soon Champions will benefit from the experience and expertise Crytpic has gained while working on thier new game. I mean can you imagine Martial arts in Champions revamped on the order of that new video?
What I am telling you guys who have lost faith is that you must give Cryptic time!
As the dev said last year, GREAT THINGS ARE COMING, we just have to be patient.
So I am asking you guys to keep getting friends and family to try the game, keep spending money on the C-Store, and keep shouting down the haters. Cryptic Studios and Champions are two of the greatest things in gaming and people who don't see that are fools.
We need to keep the faith guys and hold out for the great things Cryptic has coming to us in the future!

So...how long have you worked for Cryptic?
You know nobody from Cryptic cares enough to look at our forums, let alone talk to us.
Wow... we're not even important enough for astroturfing?
When Cryptic adds something to the Zen Store that I find worth buying I will buy it. But I am not going to buy something just for the sake of buying it to help Cryptic. The ball is in their corner if they want me spending money on them.
No, I will not give them my money. They will not spend it on champs so neither will I. The Devs have had enough time.
*PS: and don't forget to give Cryptic your money.
Pretty much this.
How can you so stupidly tell us to have faith when they've been pulling devs from CO and all the money gained from crap-bags and mock-box scams have all been sent to fund thier other game 100% I doubt even a single $ made from them went to CO at all.
And before anyone jumps down my throat for the comment about them using money to fund a new game, i have no issue with a gaming company making more games. I just have a problem when they funnell ALL of the money made from one game and sent it elsewhere. It's like infrastructure, you have maintence for roads, electricity, water etc. You don't pay your water bill so they can pass all that money off to build a new toll bridge in a useless area, resulting in the water company not maintening their facilities and then something breaks that they have no money to repair. You pay your water bill so they keep it up and running.
Have had issues like that in the past with the Australian Government taking resources out of coffers for infrastructure to use on something else. then there's nothing left.
I'm not sure if I understand the way you think- because there's some hype about a new game released by Cryptic under the Chinese gaming model, you're excited for Champs?
The way your faith works, remind me to start a religion and recruit you as a follower- with, of course, a few meager payments 'for the church'.
I can imagine a lot of things. And that's where they'll remain- in my imagination. Obviously, you're not too familiar with the Asian online gaming concept: Make throwaway game, milk for every dollar, let game die, make new game, rinse and repeat.
The Dev last year said that great things are coming, and we had a solid year of garbage for the most part and about 6 months of outright laziness.
No. I do not reward lackluster and abysmal service and products with money, praise, and encouragement. This is not how a successful business, or even a relationship works. If you are not getting what you want, do not spend money on it. To think otherwise just means you're stupid and shouldn't be allowed near the internet, sharp things, plastic bags, or anything more dangerous than a boiled egg.
For a lot of players that limit came a short time after they got all of their toons to level cap. We vets are the morons.
Wait? Whaaaa..?
All of that was fail for me.
Come back to the game that isn't another fantasy piece of crap
Agreeing with you here.
Look at Cryptic's record its not the trainwreck some would have us think it is.
City of Heroes, Champions Online , Star Trek Online and soon Neverwinter. 3 of those said games are good will have to wait and see with Neverwinter but saying I have yet to play a bad game from Cryptic it should be full of awesomejuice.
Hell I have yet to play a bad game from our not so new overlords at PW also. Things are far from the doom and gloom some are saying.

Come on you cant seriously think NO new zones or expansion in 3 YEARS, and no actual new things to do outside of temp events and recycled 2 min zerg fests in over 1 YEAR (since whiteout) is worthy of praise or even optomism can you?
See that word in capitals? its YEARS!
Maybe you should remind those who may read you that you've got some Perfect World shares and thus may be a little biased?
Source please.
He's right I do. BUY MOAR LOCKBOXES NOW!
My teeny tiny amount of shares have never stopped me from ranting. May I point out last years stick it up your **** I'ma off to TOR wikigate Twilight Sparkle rage quit.
The only reason I bought em was because I like the games PW make, and it is really a tiny amount XD

I like CO, but I'm also intrigued by this new game with Cryptic. However after Neverwinter, I do hope they return back to their first love, Champions Online.

Yeah, not gunna happen.
I'd love Champions to be revamped into something more dynamic and overall impressive, but you're out of your mind if you think they're going to do that for a 3 year old game.
Hell, I'm skeptical that video isn't just cherry picked footage meant to make the game look good.
...I just recently realized something really disturbing. We're all eating Sodapop3's "humble pie."
I assume that it is.
Then again it is pretty normal for a company (gaming or otherwise) to try to show their best when looking to make an impression. I've yet to have food purchased in a restaurant look quite as good as advertised.
At this point I've tried three games created by Cryptic, subbed to one, and bought an LTS to another.
Its going to take a lot more than a promotional video to get me to buy into (investing time and/or money) another.
'Caine, miss you bud. Fly high.
AND I believe NWN will suffer the same fate as CO, shortly after release their DEVs will be shipped to the next secret project, so I have little hope for CO.

Champions Online: Be the hero you wish you could be in a better game.
Neverwinter was supposed to go similar route since ATARI would not put much money into it, so it was supposed to be a basic cooperative online game but not a MMO.
Then, PWE bought Cryptic and decides that NWO would be a MMO and put money and time on it. Suddenly, it is getting attention and good reviews on conventions. It is the best chance that PWE/Cryptic has to get a game into the major league in the western market. The problem, current competition is pretty strong, GW2, Rift even Wow. They want to invest but not to get crazy like SWTOR, so whenever they can cut costs they do. One way, it is basically borrowing people from other games, and since STO has more visibility and they are not the onwer of ST IP they can't just neglect it too hard. Cryptic owns Champions IP and it is not as visible as other games so CO is pretty much the sacrifized lamb.
This is a done thing, not much that it can be done at this point. The real question would be if CO would get some advantage and/or compensation once NWO succeed in the MMO market.
NWO will not succeed.
Define 'succeed', and why it won't.
I've given them time to fix the Pick up and throw bug...and it's amazing that it's still not fixed.

Yes, at this point the best we can do is suppositions and plausible deductions but knowing how competition and economy work on a market, Cryptic would have no interest to put more effort into a game which already cost them a lot for very tiny benefit. It wouldn't make sense and I don't even think PWE would agree about this financial management.
Edit : STO isn't going that bad, you can see it highlighted as one of their top games along with RaiderZ, Torchlight 2, PWI,...

I'm sorry.

This has nothing to do with Champions Online... and the video link doesn't even work.
Champions will NOT benefit from anything from that game... or anything for that matter. They hired developers from Paragon Studios (you know, the people who worked on Cryptic's first game City of Heroes), and people thought "Hey! They're bringing on people with experience with superhero MMORPGs and will put that expertise to work on Champs Online"... only to find out they're working on STO and NW. To me that shows that PWE and Cryptic cares not about Champions Online anymore other than to see how much they can monetize it to fund their other games. City of Heroes lasted 8 1/2 years... but the trend that Champions is taking, it'll never last that long. Cryptic's still stuck in the "Make new shiny, neglect previous work" mindset and there are absolutely no signs of that changing. The only reason STO is getting more developer time is because Paramount and CBS would yank the license in a second if it ever got treated like CO has for YEARS, even AFTER the PWE buyout.
You can't have faith with no signs to even have faith in concerning CO; they knew of City of Heroes closing and had THREE MONTHS to do something to intice the CoH refugees to come to CO and make it their new home; sales on LTS subs, more content... hell, even bugfixes for stuff like the "disappearing object once you pick it up" bug that has been around even LONGER than the announcement of CoH sunset. The only thing they've added is the Carrier Alert, and that is nothing more than a boring advertisement to get you to buy keys for Hovertank lockboxes. No real content, no Comic Series, no Adventure Packs, no new zones with story arcs. An MMORPG with three years under its belt should have content ratio of around 75-80% content at launch and 20-25% content since launch... it's more like 85-90% content at launch to 10-15% content since launch. Granted, the Atari regime didn't help much in that respect, but PWE sure aren't doing much to change the situation either.
And where is the dev who said that? Probably over in STO or NW, because in 2012 great things have NOT come to CO, and still looks like they never will... unless you count pseudo-gambling lockboxes as "great things", which sane human beings would not.
As long as PWE and Cryptic continue to keep treating CO as the red-headed stepchild of the company's MMO line, I cannot and will not suggest CO to anyone; I'd suggest STO before CO because it actually gets CONTENT, not Zerg-rush 2 minute one small map Alerts that are mainly used as PL fodder. As CO stands now, I would suggest DCUO over CO for a superhero MMO (and I cannot stand DCUO) because they get... REAL CONTENT!
And those great things are not in the works for CO and never will be. You can't hold out faith when the faith has been depleted utterly thanks to the mishandling and mismanagement of Champions Online from Atari, Perfect World, and worst of all... Cryptic Studios (who owns the Champions IP).
-END OF LINE
If your view of CO, and Cryptic's (admittedly poor) treatment of it is so unrelentingly bleak, if you sincerely believe that nothing good is ever going to be added to this game and there's nothing to enjoy here for anyone - why are you still here? Why are you wasting your time on something that brings you neither profit nor pleasure?

I still find the forums extremely entertaining.
I play other games now though.
Some people operate under the assumption that if they use enough negativity that they'll goad the people they're being negative about into somehow proving them wrong.
Forums: "Cryptic can't do anything right and never will."
Cryptic: "Challenge accepted." *does something "right"*
Forums: "Good job Cryptic, we knew you could do it."
You might need new hobbies.
Well, I can tell you why it won't succeed. When Michael Jordan had the ball in his hands everybody knew what was going to happen because the same thing had happened hundreds of times before. Now tell me, who's got the ball?
Anyway I wish the best for NW, Cryptic, PW, etc.
I see what you're saying but...STO seems to be successful.

So you're saying, Neverwinter has always failed before, so it's going to fail this time too. Gotcha.
Or you're saying, every one of Cryptic's games have always failed. Hmm. Not sure if that's true either.
Still waitin' on them Lottery numbers. I could use another big screen TV for my bathroom.
I don't have the numbers but, is STO comparable to swtor, dcuo, wow, gw2...? maybe it is (I really don't know, that's why I'm asking) but in my opinion they're not in the same league. Maybe I'm wrong.
And the fan base from the ST franchise is huge. I'm not sure if it's so big for NWN.
