This post is directly to you. You told me you would not leave PVP out of the On-Alert pass. So why don't we have gear rewards equal to the Questionite reward system? You placed two items on the vendor. Will you please take some time to finish what you started?
Another thing, why don't we recieve Questionite for PVPing? You said you were going to do this. But then you never followed through.
I'm not asking you for anything new, just what you promised.

Unfortunately for us, Crush has a boss that has a great deal more weight on how Crush spends his time at work than we do. Based on the code errors we've been seeing make it to live however, I'm pretty sure this stuff is in the works for at least the AP & lairs.
While there is no technical rule against it, I recommend against calling anyone out -- just better form to phrase it as a general question, and ask if Crush could answer it since he's an expert.

It may be rude, but rudeness is obviously the only way to get some response, here.
I've seen a LOT of Ask-A-Dev posts, none answered, yet the three rude ones all got a response, even if the question was not answered.

Also, Xeno kinda has a point. I don't pvp because of the lack of rewards. I used to be a die hard pvper. A fix of this would rock, especially the acclaim/recog conversion and a daily. I'm not even immediately asking for acclaim gear worth mentioning, but that would rule too. Just, you know, something. I love pvp, but I just can't bring myself to do it. Too much dying for too little reward. I *know* I'm not alone in this, every conversation I've ever had about pvp, when people don't just say "they're all overpowered. pvp is impossible", end in the fact that everyone would at least fiddle, but for the fact that you get precisely nothing for doing so.
In game, I am @EvilTaco. Happily killing purple gang members since May 2008.
Yeah, gotta agree with most of the post here,PVP rewards aren't good at all,if I may suggest something for the rewards
1:questionite:give questionite rewards per match, not just a tiny 100 Q,thats not enough to get the hordes of CO into PVP again, now 500,I think 500 is reasonable.
2:better costume unlocks, such as unlocks of the old power-replacers,or better costume unlocks like tights and such, maybe better capes, stuff to fit heroes, not many of us are "Luchadores".
Epee or foil? Or was it saber? There IS a reason for this username.
Sabre. I started in foil, but late in sophomore year of college, I switched to sabre -- at first because there were spots open on the sabre squad while foil was getting squeezed, but pretty quickly it just clicked for me in a way that foil never did.
Epee... Well, good epee is a wonderful thing, but the way the rules are balanced reinforces un-fun behaviors. I watched a gold medal bout end 2-1, and two of those points were from red cards.

You would probably rip me apart... but I'd love to have a go sometime. All I have extensively trained in is epee and my group never followed Olympic rules standards. I was in the Society for Creative Anachronism when I did my fencing. Then again... maybe I might do better than I think, I did win three of the five tournaments I fought in.

Xeno's lack of diplomacy is understandable since On Alert PvP has been in a sorry state.
Cryptic has had time to do Grav rampage , Jets and a full power armor review but cant take a little time to make some gear for PvP. Heck gear doesnt even need 3D models just recycle a pic add some epic stats shove it in the Hero Games vendor, job done.

If there was an exchange rate between Acclaim and Recognition, it wouldn't be necessary to make new gear or costume pieces for pvp.
PVPers would be able to shop at recognition venders like every one else.

Love the fact that the issue has not been addressed/spoken of, and all three dev posts are more-or-less off-topic. Honestly, it feels like demagogy.
Except that Trailturtle isn't a dev, he's a moderator. That means that he only knows what they tell him. If they don't tell him anything, he can't tell us anything...
Doesn't mean he can't socialize and respond to posts directed specifically towards him...

As for PvP being brought in line with On Alert I agree it seemed to just get forgotten about with that patch. I don't PvP but even I think it needs some love and not ignored like some ginger haired ugly step kid.

As for my own interaction with this... I mean, I'll bring it up with the devs, of course, but I don't really have the necessary elements to weigh in on it. I'm not a PvPer when I play Champs, so I can't really say what it does or doesn't need. I can make a judgment call based on what other people say, but that's about all I can do.

Honest question here,
Are you saying that is recommended to not politely (saying please and all) ask a question or make a request of a dev ?
Are you saying that is recommended to not politely (saying please and all) ask a question or make a request of a dev ?
Primarily it's a question of how the post acts. The expectation of a response is probably what you want to avoid. If possible, I or one of the other devs will answer, but sometimes a question will go without an answer. Phrases like "If you've got time, I'm curious to hear a dev's thoughts on this" are very helpful.
Also, while it isn't mentioned in the community rules for the CO forums, at least on the JD forums players are technically not supposed to post asking directly for a PWE employee, or PM them. Obviously I bend that rule backward in my own case, but I really don't want the devs to feel like they have to be checking the forums or answering questions. Not only does that distract them from making content, that's something I should be tanking, not them.
Ok, I just found this post, I was bored while I wait for Champs' maintainence to finish...
Anyway, first thing, Trailturtle is awesome, because he's actually responding to us, and he logs on ingame, just saying.
On topic, Crush had several store items available during the beta testing, and a special new PvP currency (which was unnecessary). When the currency left, so did most of all the gear, what we need...
1) Malvan Mods pretty much the Penetration(Off)/Resiliance(Def)/Perception(Utility) mod
2) Mod (R1-R6) grab bags, like the ones in the Recognition vendors, (These should also be cheap, like how cheap the recognition vendor's are).
3) Primary Defense gear
4) Secondary slot gear. Similar to the Questionite secondaries, but they grant PvP stat bonuses.
(I still am a proponent of reviewing stealth so the use of Perception gear is obsoleted...power based sight would be better).
5) FIX the Malvan Gauntlet (currently only grants 50% of the correct amount of penetration it should grant).
6) Buffing the Penetration stat (because its rather weak).
7) Buffing the Resilience stat (also silly weak).
I may be forgetting something but I think thats most-...Oh yeah.
8) Daily PvP missions setup the way Alert missions are A few examples would be:
- Participate in 3 Stronghold Matches
- Participate in 3 UTC Matches
- Participate in 3 King of The Hill matches
- Participate in 3 BASH matches
- Participate in 5 Zombie Apocalypses
- Participate in Every Hero Games match once
- Participate in every Team Hero Games match once.
9) Questionite rewards for winning a Hero Games match.
10) Revert the teams matches' requisites of 8 players down to 6, enable autobalancing of teams if teams become skewed (5v2, 5v1, 4v1, 3v1, etc)
11) Reduction of acclaim costs of items (Gear should cost the equivalent of Questionite gear, more or less).
12) New costume pieces aquireable through the PvP vendor  (Just a personal touch, oh hello Ultimate Ninja set, do you have that dual katana backpiece for me?).
And I think thats it, feel free to chime in if I missed something as far as PvP rewards are concerned.

I'm sure you can understand how it would have been frustrating for our Community Management Specialist to make multiple posts in a thread about an on-going issue that many feel strongly about without acknowledging the topic.

What really gets to me is the small stuff, it just comes across as lazy.
* the two items you did add to pvp vendors are on all vendors primary, secondary etc.. and they obviously dont fit all those vendors.
* the phone cables/poles have been distorted since on alert, how hard would it be to just make them upright again?
*the turrets in stronghold, sometimes they work as intended other times they are invincible
unprofessional things:
* insulting parts of your own playerbase in chat channels in game
* Saying part of your own playerbase doesnt matter cause they are the "2%"
* Changing subject or arguing with any player that brings up pvp inside a in game chat channel. Don't you know the customer is always right! (now debating or explaining is fine but the way things were handled in the gc channel would get any employee or manager fired in any other business)
I can add alot more but i have a feeling that i will have plenty to respond to in the little bit i have here. Have a good one!

This too, forgot to mention this, but yeah, Immune turrets make a match unfun (however, I suggest for a more comprehensive match, a way to rebuild turrets and their mobs)

trailturtle, because of the things listed in bloodx13s post its known that "certain devs" have a personal dislike for pvp and because of that we know pvp will always be on the back burner, but:
But seeing "PVP daily missions with questionite rewards" on the next Until Field Reports would put a lot of hearts at ease and prevent more threads like this from popping up.

The customer is not only NOT always right, most of the time there are so many conflicting views from various customers that there is no possible way to please everyone that uses the product.
If the customer were "Always right" most businesses would be in a shambles trying to bend over backwards giving away their products to dissatisfied people who always want more for less.
Just passing that along. Not to any one person in particular, so don't freak out at me about it.

Wasnt meaning it in the literal form more as a philosophy for dealing with customers. "Of course, these entrepreneurs didn't intend to be taken literally. What they were attempting to do was to make the customer feel special by inculcating into their staff the disposition to behave as if the customer was right, even when they weren't." If you want the link to the origins of the phrase etc.. just ask im here for my fellow champs!!

I'm pretty sure this isn't literal, this is a philisophical statement on how PR works, if you tell the customer how wrong they are, they'll simple not patronize your business, you'll go out in a short time.
The customer is not only NOT always right, most of the time there are so many conflicting views from various customers that there is no possible way to please everyone that uses the product.
Anyone who has ever worked for....anything really, knows the customer is always a ****ing moron, and only on rare occasion are they actually correct about something, and even then its likely unrelated to the issue.
"Yes, you are correct sir or madam. Today is, in fact, Thursday. It is not, however, 2003. The coupon is no longer valid."
I do hope that the items do finish getting sorted out. Even PVE didn't have all of its items rounded out. AP/CS/Lairs, to my knowledge, have nothing vaguely special to their drops now. Just generic loot tables. In fact, I recall running Therakiel's and getting Pre-Alert drops from bosses!
On the PVP side, the large-scale powers and metagame changes from On Alert combined with the as of yet unfulfilled promise of rewards being updated, has resulted in hemorrhaging of players from The Saikashuu and other PVP scenes. Good, friendly people, who didn't really have anything left to do after that. I'd honestly rather that the old rewards were left up there, if only for access to the power replacers that are now dead and gone.
While some will play just to play, a lot still need a carrot on a stick to coax them. There's a serious carrot shortage over there.

Of course, pion is not implying that PVPers are morons or that what they are asking for is unreasonable.
In this case, the customer IS right because having rewards for game play in a MMO is a standard practice that Cryptic supports, as proven by the "On Alert" patch which is largely focused on improving (PVE)rewards. Also, the fact that Questionite rewards are scheduled to be added to Lairs during the lair review speaks for it self.
Imagine what would happen to the PVE player-base if Questionite and gear rewards were removed from PVE game play.
Obviously, a large part of the PVE player base would stop playing.
This is what happened to PVP when On Alert came out. Before On Alert, i was able to level up almost exclusively on PVP, but now that there are no rewards, people dont queue up for PVP (much like they wouldn't queue for Alerts if Alerts didn't provide any reward).
The "On Alert" patch has removed PVP rewards and thereby reduced PVP participation and made it virtually impossible to level up through PVP (you cant lv up in pvp if the Queues stop popping). The final result is the elimination of an alternate leveling path in a game that is already short on content.

Side note - The Wieners Circle. Abusing your customers makes you phat loot. Also, bewbs.
p.s. What ever happened to the good old days when PvP was just about beating the **** out of your friends or proving you were better than everyone else? When did we suddenly need to be rewarded for being anti-social? Wasn't the douchebaggery reward in itself?
Personally I find dancing over the fallen bodies of my fellows infinitely more satisfying than new purples.

loot is the means, people, not the ends!!
To be honest I find sitting on my fallen foes to be more fun than dancing especially when said fallen foes calls you a "haxer" and threatens to leave the game and uninstall said game from 300 computers in "her town".
So yeah taking down your "friends" in PvP is more rewarding that new purples

loot is the means, people, not the ends!!
For some, that's still enough. Many other people, either innately or through conditioning of the current MMO atmosphere, have a conscious or unconscious need to have that carrot dangling in front of them. Ideally, they'll have fun while doing it, but their perception for whatever reason is that they're doing it for the loot.
The loot itself is usually both a means and and end. You play to get your loot to play better to get more loot to play better...and so on, until you cap out. At which point, if all's well, you're "into" the activity enough to keep going at it just for the fun of it.
That said, it wasn't only the lack of PVP rewards that caused the abrupt decline. It was a noteworthy part of it, but far from all of it.

Trash talking is part of any competitive activity, but not not the motivation for it. Lets not go down the road of stereotyping PVPers as egotistical anti social douche bags. Some of us know of sportsmanship, and as you can see, this thread is full of calm rational posts, and no antisocial behavior or ranting.
As stated in my previous post, rewards are a key motivator in all kinds of games (especially MMOs) and the sudden and sharp drop in PVP participation after rewards were removed speaks to that.
Maybe the devs see PVPers the same way you do and that's why they didn't feel the need to keep rewards in PVP.
This is why its not good to let personal prejudices based on stereotypes of certain groups drive game design.

All of this, and I could add, isn't the reward in doing those daily UNITY missions completing them? Why do you need a reward?
(Obvious sarcasm, I'm just pointing out the flip side of the arguement).

Ideally, they'll have fun while doing it, but their perception for whatever reason is that they're doing it for the loot.
To add to this, many PVPers also enjoy other parts of the game as well and aren't exclusively PVPers. For example i may enjoy PVP, but i think those Cyber Punk Questionite costume pieces would look great on my Metal Gear Cyber punk tribute toon.
Now im faced with the cognitive dissonance of having to choose between the costume loot i want and the game play style i enjoy. When cognitive dissonance arises most people will resolve it by picking one thing and sticking to it.
Most people choose and stick with the activity that gives tangible gain.
Keep in mind that this game is very character focused and the PVE rewards system (costume and gear) allows you to realize your hero as you envisioned it.
Also you will come across other people who will have obtained the costume pieces you want, reminding you how much you want it and how good it would look on you.
To put it another way, in PVP, you want a competitive advantage, for that you need gear, to get gear you need to PVE, while your PVEing, your getting other rewards too and so-on.

I'm teasing of course, but kidding aside, not the best argument lol

Please don't treat us like we matter when your need our feedback and then treat us like we don't exist when we just want simple rewards like any MMO player would.
Please read my sig.

He's that little known 5th ninja turtle: Bosch.
RIP Caine
1:questionite:give questionite rewards per match, not just a tiny 100 Q,thats not enough to get the hordes of CO into PVP again, now 500,I think 500 is reasonable.
2:better costume unlocks, such as unlocks of the old power-replacers,or better costume unlocks like tights and such, maybe better capes, stuff to fit heroes, not many of us are "Luchadores".
3:more PVP maps and modes
thats about all I've got now

If you want my money, there is a fairly simple way to get it since I am fairly free with how I spend it. First, produce something I consider to be worth buying. Second, offer it up for sale. Don't lock it behind a gambling scam. If I want something, I am perfectly happy to pay for it. But I will not purchase a CHANCE to get it, When I pay money, I have a perfectly logical right to expect to get what I want.

Cryptic has had time to do Grav rampage , Jets and a full power armor review but cant take a little time to make some gear for PvP. Heck gear doesnt even need 3D models just recycle a pic add some epic stats shove it in the Hero Games vendor, job done.

Except that Trailturtle isn't a dev, he's a moderator. That means that he only knows what they tell him. If they don't tell him anything, he can't tell us anything...
Doesn't mean he can't socialize and respond to posts directed specifically towards him...

Hey now, TT is the CO COMMUNITY MANAGER, not some lowly moderator.
As for PvP being brought in line with On Alert I agree it seemed to just get forgotten about with that patch. I don't PvP but even I think it needs some love and not ignored like some ginger haired ugly step kid.

Not only that -- my technical title is "Community Management Specialist."
'Caine, miss you bud. Fly high.

Fair enough, thank you.
'Caine, miss you bud. Fly high.
I understand that bringing it up is all you can do and i appreciate you commenting on the topic.
I'm sure you can understand how it would have been frustrating for our Community Management Specialist to make multiple posts in a thread about an on-going issue that many feel strongly about without acknowledging the topic.

I can't agree more here.
But seeing "PVP daily missions with questionite rewards" on the next Until Field Reports would put a lot of hearts at ease and prevent more threads like this from popping up.

Listen to this Cryptic.

They all thought I was out of the game....But I'm holding all the lockboxes now..

PVP is starving without rewards
1. Please give us Daily PVP missions that reward Questionite.
2. Please give us an exchange rate between Acclaim and Recognition so that PVP has access to all "On Alert" PVE rewards.
All of this, and I could add, isn't the reward in doing those daily UNITY missions completing them? Why do you need a reward?
(Obvious sarcasm, I'm just pointing out the flip side of the arguement).

Because they're lame?
I'm teasing of course, but kidding aside, not the best argument lol
I do get what you guys are saying, I like to PvP for the fun and challenge, not just the epeen lol you guys are too serious
Anyway, I agree, there should be a currency conversion or something.
There needs to be equivocal rewards, not better, not worse, equivocal.
Anyone who would be against that, should IMO be ignored and perhaps ridiculed for being excessively dense.
I'd also go a step farther maybe... And say that there needs to be equivalent rewards from 6th to 40th from doing PvP, and not just lvl 40 rewards.
Ideally if you dig PvP you should be able to PvP to max level.
