Anniversary Art Contest

How does a screenshot/fan art contest sound? We'll be taking submissions in four categories: 1) Best overall screenshot, 2) Best action shot, 3) Best hero spotlight, and 4) Best fan art. Whether you wield a pencil, pen or the might PrintScreen, this is the event for you.

Just so everyone knows, I have to announce that I have an ulterior motive here. Yes, it's a truly insidious motive: I want more awesome images. When I ran these kinds of events on Jade Dynasty, we got some jaw-dropping submissions -- photo-realistic, dynamic poses, chibi, you name it.

Right now, I don't know everything that the Champs community can pull off with the massive customization of our character creation, because I can't be at every CC. I'd love to see what you can draw and screenshot, because I've got a sneaking suspicion that a comic book-inspired game like this is going to draw some real artists.

We'll have prizes for eight winners, the best in each category plus four more randomly-chosen among all entries. Each winner will get custom titles: "The Resplendent," "The Dazzling," and "The Stunning." This will probably just be in-game, but I can try to make them forum titles as well.

So, Trailturtle, what exactly do you mean by 'fan art'?

Is it art that's drawn of the in game NPCs and characters (the Champions, Foxbat, Destroyer, etc etc)?

Or is it art that you or someone else has drawn for their characters that they actually play?

I do have to agree with Somebob though - what counts as fan-art? NPCs only? Your own characters? The setting itself?

Since screenshots are acceptable, I'm sure our characters are part of the equation.
Really can't get great screenshots with the limited availability of the NPC.

I wish I was a fresh faced Champions noob, this contest would have me so excited.
But I have like 40,000 screenshots and looking through them to clean them up is such a job, I need an intern.

Currently it's technically September 4, but that's only because I tied it with the leveling contest in my head. I'm asking tomorrow about extending it -- this is mostly a for-fun contest, so the longer you get to make art, the better.

flyingfinn speaks the truth. For me, this is mostly a for-fun event, so I'm extremely open to any art submissions. It does not need to be canon characters, it can totally be your own character; it can be either screenshots or drawings (I'll be sorting most/all drawings into the Fan Art category). Pretty much as long as no one steals art from someone else, I'm open to most any art (or poems or fanfics!) submitted.

Also, because I didn't post this earlier: You can post any of your art here, just host it on Photobucket or somewhere and link to here. Also, unless anyone requests otherwise, I'll probably be making a Facebook photo album with some of my favorites.

I tried to not include characters that weren't played by me in the shots. Not because of fannish reasons but because I don't know if I have the player's authorizations. There are quite a few multiple heroes shot I did wanted to join but... Well.

I have been working on an action fight scene piece of my character, Captain Mirage (@Red-Wraith), and my friends characters: Thunderhawk (@Riderfourze), and Valkaria (@SirMahdi), the three founding members of the SG, The Oracles of Justice. The three heroes engaged in epic battle against a rampaging Hoarde of aliens. the best part...Captain Mirage bellowing the Oracles battlecry, "ORACLES ON GUARD!" It will be epic, and the most difficult piece I've yet to work on. Hopefully it will come out well.

Here's a link to the one I'm currently working on - it just so happens to be CO related!

I've also got another webcomic on hiatus while I finish the CO comic, and another project I plan to do after that one is finished. < . .> Basically I just do little webcomics here and there, these are all basically practice to get my art skills somewhere halfway decent, not to mention keep my writing in practice as well.

Oh yeah, I read that one last night! It's interesting how in CO, there's the failed Qularr invasion always there in the background, but it gets talked about so rarely.
