    Energy Slide? Sweet. Flight has no effects, Fire Flight has constant smoke & kindling sounds, Power Flight has the fugly pose, everyone's STILL grinding Mystic Flight & Electro Flight... now we finally have something that resembles a generic, non-descript type of energy-based flight power, and it's a slide.

    Oh, I'm still gonna buy it. But this issue-skirting is freakin' hilarious.

    Unless it is different than the Lemuria PA Device, it is not even a slide, it is a superspeed reskin with different speed coding (lists actual speeds like flight does but uses the SS jump/run rules).

    EDIT: Looking over the advanced description, it does not have a stealth boost mentioned as the SS powers do.

    By that video this TP seems to use the same annoying movement controls as Ice Slide without the ability to at least get vertical and accelerate to a much higher speed. So am I current in thinking that they just released a new travel power that is worse then the most unused travel power in the game currently?:confused:

    I sure hope the other ranks look a whole lot better too, rank 1 just looks pitiful. Almost a near ripoff of Superspeeds FX with a little cloud. I think I'm gonna have to actually pass on this one, and I usually swipe up just about every TP that hits the store.:(

    So, since I did the vid: it's indeed a cross breed between SuperSpeed and Ice Slide.
    It feels very glidy, has a good bit of inertia.
    What you see is R1 (sorry, I purchased it for a new toon), and effects are improved for R2 and R3.
    Will update the vid before posting it (the very reason I didn't post it first, since I usually does so for powers at R3)

    It has the same jump height as SS, but seems to have a slow-mo effect (like teleport but a lot less marked).

    Give me a bit and I'll post the updated version.

    It's pretty nice, but now I keep imagining a version with new animations to make roller blading/skating. But that's just a dream of mine.

    So, basically, it's just a non-animated pose -- just like someone riding a hovering object (disc, piece of concrete, chunk of ice, carpet, etc.), minus the vertical options, with glowing effects from the hands and feet?

    Nice travel power. But if you think I'd buy this in the middle of the current crisis, you're only just thinking that. :rolleyes:

    I might have considered it if it was a Hoverboard... maybe...

    It is essencially Acrobatics with a "Surfing" character animation.

    As lazy as this travel power is, it's still rad as hell and I might buy it.

    Oh wait, I've got the Lemurian Armor Become Device that has it R3, and the device is otherwise useless save for the travel power.

    It's not bad, though I was hoping for an ice slide reskin. It seems like we already have plenty of superspeed/acro travel powers.

    I'd say give me a reskin of ice slide.

    This just looks like you set antigrav on low, and have a very lame particle effect.

    Why isn't the distortion acro trail additive??? Flat color particles are reserved for unholy/black hole powers.

    I'm tired of the superspeed reskins that are reserved to superspeed.

    Fire run trail, you can only get it if you hate jumping.
    Lightspeed trail, must hate jumping.
    Slide pose, must hate jumping.

    I appreciate the acrobatics reskins.

    I think your particle effects have been taken about as far as they can. You can't even make an ice slide that leaves a proper ice pillar.

    I really need an ice slide without the ice. A snowboard would be nice.

    Hell, make it a back to the future 2 hover board, and we have a deal.

    You know what.

    During one of the beta tests, you could select a stance (heroic, beastial, etc) that looked like hovering (the static animation of flying), and when you landed you glided while your feet touched and stood back up to the hovering pose.

    I was ecstatic by the uncanny resemblance to the ultimate outfit from Kingdom Hearts 2, the most awesome demi-god kung-fu I've ever seen. (two floating swords that loosely follow hand motions and fan out into tornadoes of death).

    If they could unlock that pose, it would do way better for this energy slide than the hover disk pose they reused.

    That actually was a collaborative choice before the game was originally released regarding the lack of a pillar in that they asked us if we would like something like that at the sacrifice of performance for everyone else in the area of the ice slide being used. I think there was a non-response so it was left how it was for economical reasons.

    Looks cool to me, but I dont buy C-Store items that I cannot test on PTS to ensure that they work with my characters' costumes/other powers.

    Not a new skin for Ice Slide=Money goes to ice cream.

    For not only is ice cream tasty. if I drop some on the floor and slip on I'll gracefully float towards the sky where the clouds are made of cotton candy.

    It's not a real slide power is all. As one knows from Ice Slide.
    And aren't there already enough skins for SS? The 2 regular ones, TRON, displacement and that fire one.
    And I suppose one could count the ball ones as SS.
    Why would someone complain it wasn't a new one? (beyond the fact people complain about anything even if they don't have a basis for it.. Hurrhurr)



    Ice Slide is the sole unique travel power in the game. It only exist in one form. And it has a relatively limited thematic use because of it.
    A fire character got 3 travels to chose from for instance.



    Also I was referring to gladiolus. :p
    But I like thistles. When I was a child I would often pick bouquets of thistles for my mother. :) Because they were pretty.

    More like Acrobatics. You can jump, but not fly with it. And it has the cornering of Hover Disk and the like.

    Ice slide is ugly and not at all what the name suggests. It should be called "Ice Surfboard Frustrating To Use".

    This new slide power suffers where Tornado Flight suffers: Lack of decent animations.

    How cool would Tornado Flight have been had they used the animation from say, Wind Framework's Hurricane? Instead, it looks like you are trying to fly through a filthy tornado.

    This energy slide power could have greatly benefited from some sliding animations. Leaning into turns, crouching at higher ranks. It's a common problem with TPs in that there's mostly only an FX change setting them apart from one another.

    Progress though: We are seeing mechanically different TP's now, just nothing actually NEW.

    Please Cryptic, PLEASE consider redoing the animations for travel powers.

    Sorry, you miss your point. I love the game. i play at it since 2009 in closed beta.

    I don't rage, it's just funny to see that.
    No matter for me that Cryptic add fluff, even if i would prefer they add content. This is my point. We don't have the same priority it seems.

    I like it (I liked it on the Lemurian Armor before this came out anyway). I only wished since it's an acrobatics skin mainly that it had flips and jumps like acrobatics, but maybe incorpoprating a snowboard/skateboard flare. Maybe if you guys do another skin like this, consider it, and add it in a variation of the energy slide too (like you guys did with Superspeed and Acrobatics). It would make it more fun and stylish, and we could better use things like the skateboard ramp on West Side to show off and play around on. :)

    I'd love to see more tp for electric & perhaps some new wind tp could be pretty cool....but what I think would rock most is vehicle tp for a completely diffferent look & feel to the game...like batman he=ad vehicles..green hornet had one...the justice league & X-men had them...they would be sweet....give us something new & unique plz......& plz don't insult us & say none of this is possible...I'm a programer:P:cool:

    Vehicles are comming already. They were announced on the last State of the Game.

    It was more of a hint, without promises, than an announcement that they were coming.

    I wouldn't get too excited about vehicles until you see the actual details. I'm thinking what a lot of folks would consider "vehicles" to mean (freely being able to use powers while using the vehicle as a travel power) and what Cryptic will actually implement (99% positive this means a become critter device with specific powers) aren't anywhere close to one another.

    And people are going to be mad.

    I don't know about you, but that's pretty much what I expected. So I wouldn't be that disappointed.
