  • Confuses affected targets. Deals increased damage instead against immune targets.

    Is there scope to divorce the two sections of this PVD?

    I think Sniper Rifle would really benefit from having its own PVD rather than being combined with another AR PVD. I do get the synergy but with the Gadgeteering changes so fresh, there's plenty of options out there now so I think Sniper Rifle would do well as a standalone PVD.

    Whilst I haven't formally tested this PVD either, my other suggestion would be for the rupturing of the Plasma Burn stacks to just deal damage to the primary target in a similar fashion to the stacks advantage on Defile.

    Alternatively, to make the PVD a bit more unique for the Sniper Rifle...

    - If your target is affected by 3 or more stacks of Plasma Burn, this applies a XXX point "particle barrier" shield to you which prevents you from being interrupted whilst charging this ability. If the shield is depleted before you finish shooting, you are interrupted and the shield detonates, dealing minor particle damage to enemies around you.

    Furthermore, I think separating the two would allow the Pulp Fiction Rifle to then be 100ft right? (Maybe?).

    I think the different ranges thing worked for 2GM and the Ray Gun because it was an increased range, this is a range decrease which although only being 10ft probably won't feel great.

    This. Exactly and entirely this.

    Pulp Fiction Rifle is neat in concept, but the glaring issue is that, fundamentally, it does what Pulp Fiction Ray Guns already does, with an extra power as a requirement in exchange for being able to be used as a ranged PB rupture at a specific narrow band of range. If you subtract the Sniper Rifle portion of Pulp Fiction Rifle then it is essentially identical in function to Ray Guns, all the way down to the Unified Theory/MSA reliance. If you implemented exclusively the Sniper Rifle portion of this PVD as a standalone PVD then it would be better.

    So. How about this as a suggestion? Separate the two PVDs. Give us Pulp Fiction Sniper Rifle, which inherits the Sniper Rifle portion of the currently proposed Pulp Fiction Rifle (but as a standalone would work at any range, just like base Sniper Rifle,) and then give us Pulp Fiction Assault Rifle as well. Potentially make Pulp Fiction Assault Rifle slightly higher base damage than Pulp Fiction Ray Guns in exchange for giving it base Assault Rifle's slowing effect, or give it more, eh, "parity" by instead making it gain a base damage boost for each stack of Plasma Burn on the target similar to its Toxic and Ice counterparts. There's other possibilities too; maybe an increase to Critical Chance and/or Critical Severity instead of Base Damage for its "extra damage" gimmick, or maybe make it a narrow cylinder AoE innately.

    My point is, the Assault Rifle portion of this current PVD is entirely redundant, and the Assault Rifle and Sniper Rifle portions get in each-others' ways. It'd be better to see both be introduced separately, since this isn't like the Blight Touch situation where there's a very strong divide between the two halves of the joint PVD that don't interfere with each-other nearly as much.
    The fact that the forums refuse to tell you how close you are to the character/post size limit until you attempt to post something that happens to be too big- and the automated spam filter will immediately completely lock you out of posting long-term if you attempt to post or edit posts too close to the character limit- is genuine agony.

    My two characters who use Pulp Fiction Ray Gun don't want other AOE than Bullet Hail that fits their theme

    My first thought was "Why Plasma PVD for Assault Riffle? When Pulse Beam Rifle itself is a reskin of Assault Riffle"

    Then I saw its going to be a Dual-PVD (can we coin this term for those Type of PVDs) and things got more interesting
    but at the same time, I wish both PVDs were separated

    Somehow, I knew Sniper would get a PVD and I would be Plasma

    The PVD is a nice rifle alternative to the pistols. It performs similarly, as expected in assault rifle mode. The Sniper is also an interesting addition as an option to long-range rupture particle stacks. A bit hard to pull off in certain encounters, but that's always been Sniper Rifle's gimmick.

    The Good:
    If the target (or you) leave the Assault Rifle's range during a maintain, the maintain continues but deals no damage (normal behavior for maintains) and does not try to use the Pulp Lance mode. So if you opt not to take Sniper Rifle, you don't risk putting the entire device on cooldown by leaving Pulp Rifle's range. The reverse is also true; if a target moves into short range while charging the Pulp Lance, it will not trigger cooldown in the event that you don't have Assault Rifle. Likewise if you try to use Pulp Lance without Sniper Rifle, you can abort the charge without hitting the cooldown because it never activates.

    The Bad:
    Having to dance the far range of the device curbs its usability in order to gain access to the rupture effect, and then return to normal attack range. In theory it works, but in practice it is janky.

    Having Sniper Rifle without Assault Rifle also creates a problem that isn't present the other way around. If you misjudge and are in short range, even a simple tap of the PVD will activate Pulp Rifle, putting the entire thing on cooldown.

    The Bug:
    Using Pulp Rifle without Assault Rifle puts Sniper Rifle (base power) on cooldown alongside the PVD.


    The Maybe:
    The PVD could be split in half. I'd rather two drops with choice and control over how I use them, given the above issues.

    If the PVD can not be split in half, I noticed that it grants itself as a "power" that can be slotted normally in the powers bar (and oh do I wish all PVDs would do that). If it could grant both the Pulp Lance and Pulp Rifle as separate "powers" for slotting, that would give the player control over using them instead of dancing the 90' line (which some encounters simply will not allow).

    What I would love to see is the big boom without the rest of the effects, which could then be tintable as an ultimate for some of the energy/radiation/atomic power themes. Perhaps as another power or PVD.

    I agree that making this tintable as well would be great but I'd love to see more done with the big boom animation.

    Forgot to mention, Prismatic Detonation is actually listed as "Primastic Detonation" in the debugger.

    Also, the Timewarp Aura is very cool.

    I know its super late in the day but I do agree with this.

    Could we get a 0 point advantage that either:
    1. Makes the base power colourable and removes all rainbow hues
      OR
    2. Move the glitter and rainbow hue to a zero point advantage.
