Cybernetic warrior archetype

senzsunsenzsun Posts: 70 Arc User
I bought this archetype just for a change and advanced the character to lvl 40. Boy was it a slog.
I was hoping there would be a level 40 power that made a big difference, only to find them both disappointing.
As a melee DPS, this archetype doesn't come anywhere near the metal weapon or even bare fist builds. What's more, It has no self heal and you have to choose between active offense and defense. I don't find Endurance and Intelligence coupled with the Brawler specialization very helpful either.
So my question is this: has anyone succeeded in making an effective Cybernetic Warrior? If so, do tell your secrets. Thanks.

There are a few options for heals on the AT (Recharge on Tether, Illum on Particle Wave, LE adv on Particle Smash, and/or Recharge on Energy Wave), but it's like many dps ATs in having somewhat limited options there, and you may need to lean more into healing devices. Choosing between an AD or an AO is also not that odd for a melee dps AT (most AOs aren't that great for dps anyways, so having the option of not taking one can actually be fine), and at least this one has Con SS, which isn't as common for dps ATs. Int SS makes sense for the build using the Particle Accel toggle/form (which would make it the main dps stat here), End SS helps w/ Unified Theory, and Brawler can be the best spec for melee dmg (esp if you can take adv of Flanking in group content). Plasma Cutter is also kinda iffy as an attack, imo, as Lumi Slash is better for single-target dmg, and Cutter's delayed explosion effect just takes too long to setup in AoE. But you can also just opt to take Particle Smash at lvl 40 instead (which at least has more potential use cases).

Not saying the AT itself is great, but its build is also not that out-of-line w/ other dps ATs. Hard to say much else w/o knowing what in particular you were struggling with.

While I don't have a Cybernetic Warrior AT, I did notice a couple things in your screenshot:
    1. Increase your form stat (INT) from 209. A DPS character really should have at least 500 in the form stat.
    2. Slot crit mods for crit instead of slotting non-superstat (DEX) mods.
    3. Consider taking the flanking spec in brawler. That's one of the best specs because it is a bonus to base damage.
    4. Buy some blue primary gear in AH for cheap so you can mod effectively.
    5. Buy the new Ultimate Particle Smash device if you haven't already.
    6. Particle Smash is way better than Plasma Cutter, go retcon that level 40 power.

One more thing to consider. That INT spec for resist penetration is only useful in endgame encounters. Most enemies in the game do not have resists. If you have no intention of bringing this character to endgame, consider spending those spec points elsewhere.

Thanks for the advice. The character has only just reached lvl 40 and is still in the powerhouse trying out powers. Upgrading the gear would come next.
I'd respec anyway if I was going to continue with it; but I first wanted to know if it is really worth continuing.

Eh, this is only partially true. Henchman have 0% base resist, afaik, but mobs above that rank can have 5-15% resist. And ofc bosses can also have some resist. So although Detect Vuln isn't as good in easier content, it's not completely w/o merit there either.

My mistake if that is the case. It always seemed to me they didn't have resists, but I admit to not looking at the combat logs for easier content carefully.
