The Color Picker In Tailors

I wanted to suggest a new implementation of the color picker in character customisation. I first thought of asking for a hex color picker as seen in things like Photoshop, Illustrator or even the character customisation system in games like DCUO. (See picture.)

I then realised that the main issue with this would likely be coding incompatibility and other issues surrounding adding such a feature to the game, therefore, I thought about something that could hopefully provide the same result:
As far as I'm aware the devs (Kai, unless I've been misinformed) added a couple of new color swatches to our selection in tailor back in October, with this in mind - my updated suggestion is, why not expand that further and add a larger selection swatches in EVERY hue? When the player clicks on a color slot it could open a much larger window (possible including a scroll bar, given it's potential size).

I'm suggesting all this because, well, ask most people and they'll tell you that one of this game's strengths is it's vast character customisation options - it's a part of what keeps many coming back to CO year after year - we use our hero's appearances for gameplay, RPing and even community activities like costume contests (both player AND dev-organised!), I'm even reminded of the passing of our friend Thundrax when many players donned his colors and symbol out of mourning and respect. My point is, the creative players of this game thrive from all these customisation options but limiting their imaginations to a range of certain colors seems needless. It also prevents things like completely faithful homages (see the exact glow tint for the Roin'esh or the precise unique grey of Nighthawk's armor or even the specific shade of blue that is used on Defender's power armor).

Hopefully this suggestion will prompt a discussion into potentially implementing changes of this kind, a better and more colorful world - for ALL Champions!

Along with this suggestion; I've a question...Why are we so limited on skin colors? You cannot duplicate skin colors on armor & tights & such. Many times when I want to blend costumes seamlessly with costumes; It's just not possible to get a match. Anyone know why that is?

I'd just settle for the colored squares to be set up in a more reasonable way.

It looks like the "whites" are all over the board, and there is only one deep black and then it seems to go to grays.

I'd like the colors to be set in rows. Whatever color on top, ranging from light to dark or dark to light from left to right. Doesn't matter, just put them in order.
Then next row down, next color.

Ideally it would follow some sensible pattern top-to-bottom; If we start with reds on top then the next row should be oranges or a more reddish-orange, then orange below that, then a yellow-orange row, yellow, yellow-green, green, blue-green, blue, indigo, and then purple with a final row ranging from black to white or white to black.

As it is now the squares are all over. This column may have a lot of blue, with lighter shades on top moving to darker, and on either side is a column that might move towards indigo or one that is more blue-green, but then after the colors get darker and darker the columns just switch to something else entirely while there are other shades of blue scattered around the window.

It just doesn't make good sense.

If, however, they implement the suggested design, I would like for them to add numbers to the slider.
I want to know exactly what colors I selected for a costume, not have to make a best guess according to the approximate location of the slider and the eyeball test.

On the costume? Not quite "auto-cycling", but just make a seocnd, third, etc costume with different colors and change costumes on the fly.

I don't really think making it where people can have "costume changes colors at set intervals" is something worth the time or effort to install.

The short answer for this is "nudity." Back when the game was launched, a conscious effort was made on the Dev's end, to ensure skin color did not match costume color, so that they could prevent people from making characters that looked fully nude. In fact, I remember them stating this as the reason very early on, when asked that question. Nowadays, It's possible to do something like that, because they have become more laxed in the restrictions of costumes.

The reason why the skin color options haven't change since then, however, is another issue entirely. The most likely response you might get is "CO's Spaghetti Code makes it to hard to change it."

    +1 to this.

As an addendum, it was in part done to avoid getting hit with an 18+ rating.

That's funny with all them critters running around.

On the other hand an 18+ rating just might save this game. I'd argue that the younger population is not creative or interested in creating superheroes or superhero universes. They just want to play as Spiderman or Thor. Lmao.
