But...my objective isn't to avoid being pestered by fun devices. It's to avoid being pestered by people using no fun devices. Those are completely different goals.
Don't know what to say other than to wear the device. Those players with the device will not pester you with the vanity item.
If people don't own cars no cars will be stolen. You're wasting police resources demanding police investigate car thefts. Just don't own a car.
Foxbatcon is over. Both vendors will stick around for another week.
Sorry to ask, but where are these vendors? I have spent hours looking in failure. I started the game during the event and never got any information about it.
As I said earlier, that's the golden rule: do onto others as you'd have them do onto you.
And yet you want to to request that the No Fun Allowed Device prevent them from using those vanity device. Please stick with one point instead of contradicting yourself.
I didn't contradict myself. I said if you don't want vanity devices use on you then you shouldn't use them on other people. The fun nullifier should do that. If you want to use vanity devices then unequip the No Fun Allowed Device. This isn't complex logic here. It's literally the opposite of what you think is a good solution for everyone else, except of course, without the exploits.

They should be where they were when the event was active. They're in the bowl of the Ren Center, just behind the powerhouse.
< I'm still upset about Heroic Bow, you are right this is an outright DOWNGRADE, it sucked out the uniqueness of the weapon, and since weapons DO NOT have material choices we cannot change it back to the original
DEVs, NOBODY Complained about the texture, nobody wanted the texture to change, the original texture was 100 times better than this generic metal-plastic
Now the boy looks like a cheap plastic toy for kids
Seriously DEVs, you should revert it back to the previous textures
If it works, DON'T FIX IT
You screwed up, change it back, sell this as feature
This was the most unique weapon skin for archery due to the wood textures
as a costume fan, this change simply upsets me, I'm using the heroic bow on 2 characters because how fantasy themed it was
I don't own this costume piece yet but the changes don't look good. I don't think the new version is an improvement and I'm not sure I'd bother trying to get the costume piece as it currently is.
In relation to the nullifier device, if someone has it equipped, their "fun"/trolling should be nullified too, that's why it's called the fun nullifier device, not the "YOUR fun is nullified but I can still mess with you all I want" device. If it works to remove the use of fun devices on that person, that said person should not be allowed to mess with other people while having it. Don't get why that's so hard for some people to understand.
I'm a raging whirlwind like the tornadoes I can make. WATCH OUT!!!
I just don't want to waste as a device slot to opt out of this kind of nonsense. Why should the onus to do something be on the victim?
I can also agree with the idea of being able to opt out without getting a device to opt out. It would be nice, for example, if we just had to click a box in the settings panel, however I guess the Devs didn't go that route, so all we can do is try to improve the options we were given.
If people don't own cars no cars will be stolen. You're wasting police resources demanding police investigate car thefts. Just don't own a car.
Car theft can cause screw a person over financially, leaving someone in debt they can't handle if they have to buy a new one just to get to work. Cops don't investigate snowball and water balloon fight, which is the appropriate comparison.
It's not about being too complex to understand it's about an issues that is so stupid and insignificant having people flip their **** over it. The only thing that ever needed to be said is "I hope Kai makes it so people with the no fun device can't use devices themselves". That's it. One, simple sentence said only once by one person.
Hey Kai, if you do implement the people using the "No Fun" device not being able to use devices, stealth patch it in and see how long it takes for anyone to notice. Seriously, don't tell anyone. Not even your BFFs in game.

Sure it did. You want to put faith in players that they won't pestering you... only for you to enforce the change so they can't pester you. I don't see how hard is it to wear the No Fun Allowed Device if you don't want to get those tacos or snowballs.

That would suggest that people haven't invested in game currency and time into obtaining vanity items though. It is a stupid example of course, and it was intended as such. I don't really think that people should stop driving cars because of a couple assholes, but then I also don't think people should be forced to get a nullifier because of a few assholes either. If we lived in a world were people weren't dicks we wouldn't be having this problem, but that's not our world.

You say that and I agree, but sadly we're not in that world where people aren't dicks to each other.

There'd only be a handful, maybe a dozen who would even notice, folks using the device because they don't want to be bothered wouldn't notice, folks who don't use the device because they love these items wouldn't notice, the only one that would care are the dicks who think it's great to pester people without fear of reprisal.

Wrong. Again. I don't know how many ways we can spell this out to you, but let me try a different approach: I love the fun items, I don't have a problem with people using them on me, so long as I can use them back. A one sided snowball fight is fun for exactly one person. If everyone has a nullifier than it's fun for nobody. If only people that don't want to throw snowballs have nullifiers then people who want to throw snowballs will have to accept that others will throw snowballs back.
I do think that disabling any other Vanity devices while the Fun Nullifier is equipped actually would be fair.
And yes, it's really not that much effort for legit players to defend themselves against trolls by just equipping the damn device.
This is one of those arguments where more than one point of view is right. Any arguing past this is people that just want to force their way onto others.
Yeah, the way it is now, it's like being able to go into laser tag with duct tape over your sensor target thingies. It's not a big issue or anything, but it's sort of irritating when someone, say, smacks you with a giant snowball, you chuckle, turn to throw one back and... whoops, invulnerable. That really is fun nullification! It's also true that if someone is bothering you with this "exploit", you could just slot the Fun Nullifier temporarily. By my understanding (haven't bought one yet) it only works if it's actually in your device tray?
And just ignore qawsada, it's pretty obvious they're trolling at this point!
And just ignore qawsada, it's pretty obvious they're trolling at this point!
They're not trolling. They just think that any more dev time spent on this would be a waste given the widely available counter if, for whatever reason, you don't want the fun devices to be used on you.
They're saying that the specific use case of, "if someone throws a snowball at me, I need to be able to throw one back instead of just preventing further snowballs being thrown at me" is not worthy of more attention. I tend to agree with this.

It's not a big enough deal.
Hey if they devs thought that the nullification device was worthy of being created in the first place it's worthy of being fixed. If something is broken it is their job to fix it. I am sure there is a long list of other things that call out for their attention, but this is something that at the very least needs to be added to that list.

Then you should not use the No Fun Allowed Device and let them hit you. It's not a hard concept to follow. You either use it or your don't.

People ask for something to block the vanity device and they got it. You don't even use it so why would you care for such an item in the first place.
For all the reasons previously mentioned by myself and others.
Most of the solution to that is just slotting the device. You guys are simply over complicating a small problem for a device that does exact what it does and was requested for some time.
While I don't see this as a big issue, I do think it's odd that a "fun nullifier" would cancel out fun devices on yourself but still let you use them on others. That seems hypocritical. I'm sure there's specific reasons this was allowed to happen though. I generally trust the Dev team, so I would like to think they thought of it.
Also, in a note actually related to the Foxbat vendors, one of my characters couldn't trade his ping pong guns for credits. It just wouldn't register me clicking the button to exchange it, but it would register the exchanges I couldn't do by telling me I couldn't do it. Did/does anyone else have this problem?
I say stuff and I say things, sometimes together but only when I'm feeling adventurous.

I never found them when the event was active, I would not be asking if I had. I can not seem to find any building called powerhouse anywhere in the area. Can someone please tell me where these vendors are?

Okay, do you know where Defender is? There's a big rotating gear near him, that's the powerhouse, behind that there's a big circular area, both vendor are down there around the lowest part.

As the one who started this little run I will state; I don't mind getting hit with a fish/snowball/water balloon/party bomb/fun cannon/cowboy ray or whatever other devices they want to make, they are fun devices for a reason.
Forcing us to get the nullifier to avoid trolls is a waste of a device spot, and yeah, the trolls are already tying up the spot but they don't care about device slots, all they care about is being able to troll you. Which making us use a slot to avoid them gives them more power than they need.
The devices should be left alone, if we get rid of them we lose even more programming, and waste even more of the energy being put into this game which we all know is not as much as we'd like to see. A complete shut down of giving or recieving fun or white listing are the sensible options for the good of the communtiy.
Keep up the good work and I hope this thread will make a difference for a positive outcome of fun devices and a negative one for the trolls using them.

You can trade things for credits? I never saw this option.
2nd weeks patch. Same Vendor who traded old credits to bags. Was mentioned in the Patch Notes. And, if you didn't even find that vendor, he's left from the event vendor's table.

I was referring to the fact that the vendor has no option to do this. I checked today - no option.
Yes. Makes me many sad. Luckily, I had some drifter salvage and was able to use it, AND that they left the event merchants around long enough that I could be reminded I could do that. lol.
Okay, just so we're all clear on the vendors I'm going to say some things that will seem obvious but I'm going to say them anyways so we don't have any confusion:
1) the vendor that we're talking about is the Exchange Merchant 2) he gives out Foxbat Cred from his store 3) you need a lot of a particular item to get Foxbat cred, 50 of the single use items for example, which is 2 and 1/2 stacks of that particular item as they stack to 20. 4) To trade in these items you need to find the option by scrolling through the store. Should you have enough of the item, 50 cheaply made ping pong guns for example, the option to trade those in should be blue.
I'm assuming we were all clear on that but when I read people talking about trading for credits I assume they realize that they mean Foxbat Cred, but it also occurs to me that they could be confused and be thinking credit as in Globals or some other in game currency. Now that I've said that, please continue with the conversation.

Yes, all that. No workie. Someone else already posted that it doesn't work and I was echoing that post.

What the devs INTEND for the device. If it is not working as they INTENDED, then it's bugged and the bug should be fixed.
If it's working as INTENDED then no bug.
Any other arguments are silly. If there are bugs they should be fixed.
