Is there a strong RP community?

The only place I see RP happening is inside Club Caprice. I want to RP as a superhero, not an alter ego at a club. Will I find plenty of that in this game?

    It's popcorn RP. I wouldn't try to expect much out of it, if I were you.

    By closed, I imagine that he means it's not openly advertised and you have to be affiliated in some way with the organisers. One way you can get some info on some events is by joining the CORP (Champions Online Role Players) channel. They also have a website you can join that will have RP events you can sign up for on their forums.

    There's an "apply" button next to the log-in button... http://championsonlineroleplayers.shivtr.com/

    If you want, you could also join a SG that specialises in Superhero RP. One of best is The Silver Age Sentinels. They have a thread about joining their SG here.... http://www.arcgames.com/en/forums/championsonline/#/discussion/242561/the-silver-age-sentinels

    Caprice can be very "meh" for RP......... unless you are a werewolf/vampire/demon looking for love in all the wrong places.

    Derived from the term "popcorn flick." Not much of substance, might be entertaining or might be completely terrible, won't be getting nominated for an Oscar any time soon.

    I hang out at Club Caprice most nights, RPing isn't what I'd call high heroic, there have been long drawn out story lines but usually it's where we pretend to be heroes relaxing in their off time. A few people use Caprice as a place to hook up for ERP. I don't judge, that's not something that interests me, but it's the thing that most people here associate with Club Caprice. I don't run across it that often though.

    I think people can be somewhat insular as far as role play and specific communities because this genre lends itself to such a wide spectrum. For example, I'm personally a fan of straight up comics such as Avengers, JLA, Titans, etc etc, so my SG tends to skewer towards that particular playstyle. Others prefer different things... I won't lie, I think you kinda have to look to find things here moreso than other MMOs.

    There is definitely more places to RP aside from Caprice. I don't want to paint in broad strokes here but I think the place has given the overall RP community in the game a bad name. It's simply not the community as a whole though it does attract a diverse crowd. I don't really go there much but I do know there are a few decent RP'ers who frequent it and some, well... yeah. Not so much.

    Good luck in your hunt, btw! I DO think that there is something for everyone here, its just a matter of locating like minded people to share in it with you. :)

    See, to me having to answer like this just means overall the answer to the OP's question is no.
    I mean... if we look at examples of "public" rp in the game, we understand why rpers might want to conduct anything they care about in private.

    OK I will say this to people and it might shock em. Nupht is open to walk up role play nothing deep. I do enjoy when heroes turn up to try and stop my evil schemes (via dueling).

    Yup ima Roleplaying PvPer this is a thing.

    There is plenty of non-Caprice roleplaying. Generally, it is contained within Supergroups, using private chat channels.

    I usually put numbers or EXE at the end of of each Nepht. Part of her roleplay as a virus thats infected an MMO.

    (Hopefully) Useful CO Resources: HeroCreator (character planner), Cosmic Timers/Alert Checklist, Blood Moon Map, Anniversary Cat Map, and more (eventually, anyway).
