Anyone else getting progressively worse lag/rubberbanding and DCs since the last patch?

I'm a CO lifer and checked everything on my end but all day I've had progressively worse lag/rubberbanding and finally it's just been straight DCs if and when I can get into the game. I've launched from Arc and straight from the launcher (which is also running slowly) on my PC.

Anyone else getting this or anyone have solutions/ideas?

Thanks for the help.

With my old equipment and awful hotel internet, I've seen no unusual amount of SNRs and no rubberbanding lately. Seems to only be affecting a select group of users, which points to it probably being more of those internet access wars going on (doesn't PROVE, of course, but points to). I forget the company names involved, but it screws things up for a lot of people whose info gets routed through that mess.

yeah I had some issues myself, but that was AFTER being logged in with no issues for 20+ minutes. But the lag suddenly got so bad I could barely move.

nope, no problems today. yesterday was laggy but I've had it off and on since I started
try running tracert to the patchserver adn see if it's getting held up anywhere

Disconnect your router, connect your PC directly to your modem using an ethernet cable. If you have a router/modem hybrid, connect the cable to that.

Open command prompt, (start menu -> run -> cmd) and use the following commands

ipconfig /all (copy and paste the info to a .txt file)

    ping www.crypticstudios.com
    tracert www.crypticstudios.com

If you get a couple of "request time out" messages, then you're facing packet losses. If so you should copy and paste the info to that .txt file as well, send it to your ISP and ask them to do a reroute to crypticstudios.com

Yup, this used to happen to me waaaaaaaaaaaay back when.

I was locked out of the PTS and LIVE yesterday after being able to play for roughly 20 minutes, going to try now to see if it will let me in.

It's always the last hop which has packet loss. But yes, lots of lag this week.

PS Chaelk - wouldn't be putting the first three entries in that traceroute on the web. You probably don't want some people knowing your IP address...

sometimes a "request timed out" indicates that that particular network node has been configured to NOT respond to pings. (which is what traceroute is)

Today I can barely even log in. literally taking about 10 minutes from starting the launcher to actually getting in-game. When I finally get to the loading screen, I get several SNR messages. And then disconnected.

And then after 20 minutes, crash while trying to load in.

Haha, I don't think I'll be able to play today.

PS - I very rarely get this kind of connection problems. Like, I can think of one other time in the seven years I've played.

Took 40 minutes to log in, but I have SNRs every couple seconds. They last from like 45 seconds to... minutes.

And sometimes it's Cogent deliberately throttling traffic, as they've been accused of repeatedly.

hmm.... not sure if throttling causes pings to fail or if it causes them to be returned late.

If there are multiple "request timed out" messages one after another in succession, I doubt that's anything considered okay or normal. When I was having severe constant rubberbanding in the past, the tracert I did showed exactly that. Surprise surprise it was Cogent's servers involved.
  • chaelkchaelk Posts: 7,732 Arc User
also if you look at my previous tracert, you see those same ones showing numbers. so they do accept the check.

It has been horrible, today. A full second out of sync at times, constant rubberbanding.
  • chaelkchaelk Posts: 7,732 Arc User
only 1 second. try having 5-10 seconds between hitting a button and anything happening. It's when that starts, I just switch the game off. Tako and Colosus fights used to be like that, couldn't do anything even with all floaters off.

Once in a while after I start the game I get one SNR, but then I logout and back in and then the game runs smooth for no matter how long I have it running for the rest of the night. Strange.

Been getting lag across the board, Not just here but on Freelancer Multiplayer as well (Crossfire 2.0 Mod). Made the Liberty Rouges start flying off in the distance in space and never comming back and still take damage to my shields even though there model was not there, Eventully I got killed by "Invisable" Liberty Rouge Ships.

That is how bad It gotten for me. It's hard to tell where the lag comes from sense fixing Net issue is a headache.
