Please make auras/skins available year round!

With the passing of the 4th of July event, all of those auras sold by the Liberty Guard are now out of reach until next year...and that's just one example. We also cannot get invisible weapons, or any number of other event-only things which could very easily be put up for sale on the Zen and/or Questionite markets.

To make matters worse, many of these are Bind on Pickup...meaning that unless you had that particular character already made (and at least 10th level to participate in Alerts such as Red Winter, to accumulate Patriot tokens), you are out of luck. C'mon guys, it isn't like these are rare uber-powerful pieces of gear that require dedicated grinding. It's Tailor-fodder! Please just put them up for sale!

Sad to say that they might not consider making it available all-year round. Those auras(and some trinkets) are what motivates players into engaging events.

    This ^^

Having things available all the time means that events aren't really events.

Regarding invisible weapons (MA / TK exclusive), you can just buy an energy dagger and dye it black. Since black cannot be displayed as said weapon - type, the weapon becomes invisible. You can do the same with the telekinetic swords.

    Enjoy :)

TK swords ignore your color choice in costume editor. They are colored based on your power tint.

But you cannot make it "black" or disappear entirely. :p

    Nerp.

Everyone pretty much answered why. I missed items as well but that's what I get for not being apart of the grind.

if event auras are going to be bound to character, they might as well make them available elsewhere

No real logic to that statement.

last two events i didnt grind for auras cause i had no immediate use for them, halloween and foxbatcon? i grinded for auras cause there was a chance i could use them at a later date.

say tomorrow i have an idea for a character where one of the auras in the last event, i would have to wait a year to get it, whereas if it could use the spectral aura from halloween i could grab one out of the bank.

needless to say, character #1 would probably not be made, and by the time the event rolls around again i will have forgot, or not care

Of course there is. If they are going to make the auras BoP (which in and of itself is stupid, but whatever), then they ought to put them in the Zen or Questionite stores for sale year round. You could get them 'free' during the event by grinding content for tokens, or just purchase them later with Zen. Or, at the very least, they should have been Bind to Account in case you have a toon with enough of the appropriate currency to buy them for one of your alts that doesn't.

That latter situation is what happened to me--I had a concept for a character that would have used the Star Trail aura, but hadn't made the character yet. I figured I could buy it with one of my mains and hand it over...then I discovered you can't. By then it was too late...I created the alt and desperately started grinding Red Winter, then the event ended before I had time to accumulate enough Patriot Tokens. Very disappointing. I'd happily pay for it if I had that option, and really there is no business-savvy reason for them not to allow it.

That's still no reason to make event auras available when the event isn't going. The goal here isn't to make the auras available according to your needs.

Auras that bind to account and not character would be great but I would not like to see rewards from events made avaliable year round as it would make people less likely to participate in events.

In that case you could have bought the patriot tokens from the drifter store(or q store..I don't recall exactly)
During an event they almost always have a way to buy the currency in some way or another.

I don't think it's unreasonable for the event vendors to be available year-round (we have this on STO in a sense) but the currency required should be limited to only the event period. Events are a very effective tool for boosting player engagement levels, and there's already plenty of year-round content grinds to engage in for random vanity items.

I don't really see any harm in the vendors staying.

They'd add some clutter. Maybe a single vendor with a bunch of tabs.

Yeah, nope. I experimented & dyeing TK weapons black in the Tailor has no effect when the power is used (they just show as the default pink anyway), and they cannot be dyed black in the Power colors palette. Same with the Energy weapons--they just appear as black swords when the power is used. Thanks for trying though.

Sure, but the good would outweigh the bad by a lot, I think.

By MA, I think he means martial weapons. The energy dagger can be dyed black to appear invisible. Details:

    "Normal" energy dagger

    "Black" energy dagger

This is a martial (single blade or dual blades) appearance unlock. As far as I know, TK weapons and Laser Sword colors are determined entirely by what you select (if anything) for power colors.
