It's been a while since I last played CO. I just jump in once in a while to see if freeform slots price has dropped. Looking around, I saw that there are discounts offered once in a while. There was even a giveaway in 2015.
The issue is that I'm not getting any emails when these deals happen. I've checked under the settings, but didn't notice anything to subscribe to the CO deals/giveaways.
Does anyone know how I can get notified through email when these deals happen?
I don't know what to tell you. It might be getting filtered to your junk mail. Best I can tell you is check back around Thursday or Friday to see if there are any deals available. While I hope they do another free freeform to new accounts and such, i am sure a freeform discount is planned for sometime in the future, possibly around July 4th.
Alright, I'll be sure to check this Thursday/Friday. And yes, I've checked the junk/spam box as well and there was nothing in it from Champions Online.
@chaelk That used to be the case up until a certain point. As I mentioned above, I stopped receiving mails after Sep 18, 2015. I remember how the forums used to look differently back in the days, did something happen at the end of 2015?

Hm. When did the transition to Vanilla forums happen?
Ever since that Black Friday Sale a couple years back where the had EVERYTHING at 50% off but people were notified the day after the sale, they've been caring less about CO customers. I still get STO and NWO notifications though.
They should've made the free freeform slot a permanent item in cstore. On the bonus tab or under services not a limited time offer.
Or they should add one freeform slot to every existing account and all new future accounts so that new players can see what this game is really capable of offering. I mean literally, I wouldn't even still be playing this game had I not been around when the free freeform slot was given away. It gave me a taste of what this game was really capable of offering--something the boring, horribly-unbalanced, and gameplay-limiting ATs utterly fail to do.
(Hopefully) Useful CO Resources: HeroCreator (character planner), Cosmic Timers/Alert Checklist, Blood Moon Map, Anniversary Cat Map, and more (eventually, anyway).
which ATs did you try? I personally found the Grimoire to be reasonably effective, and Specialist to be quite capable as a dodge tank.
My first was a Glacier, but aside from how Invulnerability made me feel tough despite being a lowbie, it was pretty unpleasant. I actually quit the game a few weeks after making this character and didn't come back until the freeform slot giveaway. To help get more questionite for my freeform, I put the other 2 slots to use and made a Grimoire and a Soldier. Grimoire is downright awful for aoe until you get Skarn's Bane and even then, it could be more mobile. Finally, I made a soldier because at this point, I realized I preferred maintains over charged blasts. It's alright once you get the energy unlock, but having to wait until 25 for the energy unlock makes over half of the leveling experience terrible. And even then, it's way too glassy for my tastes.
To me, the game really is all about being able to pick and choose what I want. If I wanted a game where my characters were limited to what's essentially pre-designed classes, other games have a lot more to offer. Freeform really is CO's greatest offering, and yet I suspect a most of the people who've tried this game came and went without ever being able to see it for themselves.
Edit: Oh right, I did try a few others, but I deleted them because I hated them: The Mind and the Unleashed. Working on an Automaton now because I realized I should probably level it to unlock the extra powers, because completionism.

I've tried Grimoire, Specialist, and Marksman. Grimoire can be kinda squishy, but is REALLY good at obliterating things at range. Yeah your early attacks are mostly single target or PBAoE, but you can one-shot a lot of smaller enemies.
Marksman is also a ranged DPS class.
Specialist mixes ranged and melee in an interesting way, but also has damage mitigation. From what I've heard Unleashed is rather similar.
Never tried Glacier, but it strikes me as the sort of character that is too defensive to have good DPS.

Automaton is (on PTR) losing the "awakened AT" status and everyone's getting the powers from it, just FYI.

Oh. Well how's that for me showing up way too late to the party?

Glacier I found worked well for a dps, by concentrating on crits and spamming avalanche.

The latest email I received from CO was from championsonline@perfectworld.com on September 18th 2015.
It was about the Onslaught: http://www.arcgames.com/en/games/champions-online/news/detail/9554543
YOU mean we can get email notification?

That I don't know. But I'd assume somewhere at the end of 2015.
Either way, I guess email notification is something of the past then?
They do have a news feed (RSS), so I should probably hook it up with an RSS-reader and let it email me all the news.
