Retcon

Hey guys, so here's my thoughts on the retconning as it stands right now. It needs to be fixed, not because it's broken, but because it's not very easy to use. For example say you have the passive Defiance and you want to get rid of it, instead of going to the powerhouse, and depending on how low down the power is that you want to get rid of is, and finding out how much it will cost you just to change one power, grinding out the global to get to the power, and then getting rid of said power or if you have a retcon or 2 stored using those, well that resets EVERYTHING you have and so you have to go through and remember all the specializations and advantages and the powers you had and all your stats, just to change one power. When it would, at least I think, giving us the ability(maybe in the form of a button of some type) to remove one power at a time by us selecting it and removing it, and if there are advantages on them then we would have to get rid of those first and then removing the power.
Thank you for listening.

I getcha :) and it is most definately a pain to have to use a token for a power I thought I would need and use at higher levels..

You can always use the Powerhouse Planner. Makes keeping track of builds so darn easy. http://powerhouse.nullware.com/powerhouse.html

It can..though the hard part of that is making sure your not tempted to deviate. It got the point with me where I just said screw it, and made my builds in-game :p

sadly, the high cost of retcons keeps the economy sane, as it's *the* major drain of G from the game. Now, it would be totally reasonable to let you choose which powers specifically you wanted to retcon and leave the rest - but you should have to pay about as much as you do now if you use that option. (Just remove associated advantages automagically when you pop a power out this way so you don't get over-penalized).

What about those crazy AH prices? Seems they're doing alright to balance the economy?

AH prices, aside from the AH cut, don't take Gs out of the economy. Gs spent on respec costs are *poof* gone.

It would be very nice to do it the way the OP suggests. Especially so we could change out travel powers or use new powers we unlock. Sometimes I think about working for a new power but then think "Yeeeah but I'd have to go through all the expense and trouble of retconning to use this thing so why bother?"

It'd be nice if travel powers were their own retcon group. Unlike CoH we don't, and can't, pick travel powers at the expense of any other sort of power. Their advantage points are the only thing they potentially share with other powers.

Yeah you should be able to choose any one power for a flat price, also Respecs are WAY too expensive.

I definitely agree with all of this. The current system is utterly repulsive, because in order to remove a power near the bottom of the "undo stack," I have to pay to remove a bunch of other powers and advantages that I actually want to keep. Who thought this system was a good idea? Seriously...

Comparing CO to it main rival DCUO here. As bad as DCUO is its a lot cheaper to retcon there. I know its not as in depth as CO but the casual player wont care about the differences they will just think its easier to retcon in the other game.

I really do think this is something cryptic needs to fix.

And please allow me to toss in my agreement also. Though I do agree that the "older" the power/advantage the greater the cost, the system of having to remove everything above that one power/advantage you want to change sucks.

And in that last sentence I noticed that the system places both "powers" and "advantages" in the same stack. Shouldn't powers be in one stack and advantages in another? Probably a lot of work to re-write the system, but if they do the one ("Pick Power") than maybe the other would be possible at the same time?
