Same with every Cryptic game ATM. It's probably another DDOS attack.

And they don't bother to take two seconds to drop an announcement on their forums, Facebook page or Twitter? Just pathetic management.

Looking at Warframe for comparison, Digital Extremes would have already announced knowledge of the problem within minutes, had a team in the office fixing the issue, -and- be giving out high end alert rewards as an apology for the downtime. Yes, on a weekend.

Yes, I am aware of this. "Come in" in this context being a substitution for "work".

Just FYI, the Champs social media accounts are rarely posted on, while the NW and STO accounts are both posted on regularly. That being the case, there is really no expectation that someone is suddenly going to post on the Champs account tonight, because of the current issues. If you want current info on problems, you will have to follow the STO or NW accounts.

I don't scream, I make sarcastic comments in a dry, sardonic tone. And no one would even have to do that if there were signs that people who are employed to do so were actually paying attention first.

Ummm... not being able to log in is a big thing when that is your primary, really only, product. That's like going to a grocery store and they have no groceries. It's not a small thing, it's the only thing.

Minor bugs and whatever are minor, but not being able to get into the game at all? That is total failure on their part.

    Hyperbole is grand. Actually looked it up, the only thing DE did was say they would work through the night and their acknowledgement of an issue didn't occur within minutes. And they didn't give alert rewards they compensated people for time sensitive things;
“What about my (time sensitive booster)?”

Rest assured we will be compensating anyone who purchased a booster and is affected by these interruptions. Full details to follow.

    “What about my Argon decaying?”

Indeed, this DDOS attack has caused a Void Distortion, decaying has subsided. Argon will not be decaying until server stability returns. Please note this won’t fix timers (they will still appear to countdown), but no Argon will be deducted.

    “What about Dark Sector conflicts?”

All active or pending Dark Sector conflicts/deploys have been extended by 1 day (24 hours) to make up for the lack of playability during this downtime.

“What about my Login reward streak?”

Login rewards have been given a 2 day leeway for users who could not login during this time.

Actually both STO and Neverwinter are rather good money makers for Sony and Hasbro. That would warrant a lot of cops kicking down doors.

Story time, I once worked at MCI Relay Operations, it's a calling center for the hearing impaired.
Well they had the bright idea to use a website interface to make calls, anyone could go there and make free relay calls.
Well one kid had me call a number and a woman answered, the kid then proceeded to say vulgar things after i did the "Operator Here, this is a relay call, When finished speaking say Go Ahead". and eventually after about ten minutes I went "Operator here, ma'am this is a prank call apparently, check on your kids", and heard a door open and saw "isht" on the text interface and heard this kid's mom read him the riot act. She apologized for him wasting the time for a service that was used to help people.

One time someone prank called 911, and by law I had to resolve the IP and give the 911 operator the address.
I would have loved to see the faces on that kid's parents.

This aint a prank call though. This kid is screwing with China's biggest game company, one of Japan's biggest companies and one of the USA's biggest toy makers. Its not just little old Cryptic that he is p***ing off.

He will regret this. He might think its all haha fun fun...but he wont be laughing so hard when he is sharing a prison shower with a fat redneck named Jim Bob Bob and the soap gets dropped.

Screwing with big companies gets you in deep s***.

*EXPLANATION!* Hasbro is involved via Neverwinter, Sony owns CBS which in turn owns Star Trek and Perfect World owns Cryptic.

That's only a cherry picked bunch of things, all of which are supporting my argument. But they also often put up reactor, catalyst, and/or Forma alerts for a few hours after any sort of DDoS or service interruption.

I can't remember the last time CO players received like, even a direct acknowledgment of service issues in our own channels, let alone nice (and admittedly totally unnecessary) compensation for loss of playtime due to service interruptions.

I suppose by now I should have zero standards when it comes to communications and just not acknowledge our lack of them with our devs now, since we're going on several years with only intermittent change on that front. But it would be nice to have that stuff on a regular basis, you know?

A simple CO Tweet of: 8:00pm EST: "Hey guys, we're currently experiencing service interruptions, launcher and login servers are down. We're working to figure it out."

Could help to maybe not have the toxic seepage spread so quickly from our desiccated veteran corpses.

It's not just my mmo stuff, it's my HDD encryption pws, my OS pws, my alarm passwords, Garage door (had to change that twice as my ex came back within a day of leaving, and then again when somehow someone guessed it, nothing was taken), SIM pin and Cell OS pin. It's a good habit to change your passwords, never know when someone wrote it down or saw you use it. Really helps prevent identity theft or unauthorized access. To this day I have some weird china account trying to gain access to my GW2 and SWTOR accounts (the latter someone DID, disabled my keyfob generator and ran up enough store charges to empty my debit account, thankfully Bioware was understanding and immediately refunded it and locked the account until I could regain access). Had someone find my wallet once and try to buy things with it, they took that and the money and left everything else. (Hospital had called me to inform me they had it, and then the cops to inform them they had video of the card thief).

People think it's pessimistic to always think of the possibilities and take them into consideration, I say that's how I have way less terrible stupidity stories than all of my friends.

I found out who's behind it.

    WHAT?

Two words: Dr. Newbton. So... six years since any kind of "meaningful" compensation. Acknowledgement? Possibly more recently, but it's difficult to keep track of things that barely exist. Ask Sasquatch.

Now, if your Stockholm syndrome were as advanced as everyone else's, you might not mind that Cryptic is okay with putting in the effort to nerf a mechanic that's been static for 2 - 3 years even though no other corresponding mechanics have, or will, change accordingly to compensate, but they won't break a multi-year silence to post a Facebook status update saying the game is down and they're fixing it. You expect them to Tweet? Why? It's not like it's someone's healthy breakfast with an egg white omelet and wheat bread toast, or something.

I utterly agree. I never use credit cards, never give out my bank details online, if I do sub to a mmo I use top up debit cards. I wont get a phone on contract I will just buy a phone outright and get a Pay as you go sim. When I shop online I either use said top up debit card or amazon gift cards and I tell you trying to find power companies and internet providers that send you out old fashioned bills that you can pay down your local post masters is an absolute pain in the butt these days -_-"
